Антитерористична поліція розслідує вибух, що стався в п’ятницю ввечері біля офісу Hellenic Train, головної залізничної компанії країни, на проспекті Сінгру в центрі Афін.

Бомбу, яка містилася в рюкзаку, залишеному біля будівлі, залишив на місці події хтось на мотоциклі без номерних знаків.
Поліцейські вивчають відеозаписи, щоб вивчити пересування зловмисників, зокрема, як вони прибули на місце події і покинули його.

Перш ніж вибухотехніки встигли провести контрольований вибух, пристрій спрацював. Вибух завдав незначних пошкоджень фасаду будівлі та прилеглим автомобілям.

Пожежі, що вирують на північному сході від грецької столиці, уже забрали життя однієї людини: уранці у вівторок у згорілій фабричній будівлі пожежники знайшли тіло жінки.
У понеділок удень полум’я досягло афінських передмість Врілісія та Пентелі, де згоріло або було пошкоджено кілька будинків. Пізно ввечері того ж дня представник пожежної служби заявив, що в багатьох місцях пожежу вдалося локалізувати. Полум’я тримають під контролем, але сильний вітер може спричинити виникнення загорань в інших місцях.
Для боротьби з пожежами був задіяний також Механізм цивільного захисту ЄС. Свою допомогу запропонували, зокрема, Чехія, Франція, Італія, Сербія, Румунія та Туреччина.

Біля Афін вирують лісові пожежі, через що влада Греції закликала жителів двох районів покинути свої будинки.
У Варнаві, яка розташована приблизно за 35 кілометрів на північ від грецької столиці, з полум’ям, яке дібралося до житлових будинків, борються близько пів тисячі пожежників.
На гасіння задіяли 40 пожежних машин, 19 літаків і гелікоптерів.
«Полум’я досягає висоти понад 25 метрів», — повідомив один із речників пожежної служби.
Управління цивільного захисту в СМС-повідомленні закликало місцевих жителів залишити свої домівки. За даними ЗМІ, кілька людей отруїлося димом і їх довелося госпіталізувати. Туристичним об’єктам наразі нічого не загрожує.
У Мегарі, на захід від Афін, з вогнем борються п’ять пожежних бригад.
Через лісові пожежі деякі квартали Афін накрив густий дим.
Цього літа у Греції виникли сотні лісових пожеж. У червні та липні в країні були зафіксовані рекордно високі температури повітр’я за всю історію спостережень, а також найтепліша зима. Ситуацію ускладнює і тривала посуха.

Представник Пожежного департаменту Янніс Артофіос зазначив, що операція буде дуже складною через північні вітри силою 7-8 за шкалою Бофорта.
Мешканцям найближчих до району пожежі вулиць наказали евакуюватися у напрямку містечка Кератеа, одну з доріг закрили для руху авто в обох напрямках.
Можливо доведеться евакуювати і монастир, що знаходиться у цьому районі.
Вже залучені півсотні місцевих пожежників і 20 одиниць техніки, 2 літаки і чотири гелікоптери. До грецьких пожежників приєдналися 40 румунських колег з п’ятьма одиницями техніки.

О 6:30 ранку до поліції надійшов дзвінок від невідомого про те, що на вулиці Сурмелі, 2, за адресою афінської масонської ложі, закладено бомбу.
Поліцейські прибули на місце події та перекрили частину вулиці. Невдовзі після прибуття правоохоронців пристрій спрацював, спричинивши невелику пожежу біля будівлі.
Сапери знайшли другий вибуховий пристрій всередині будівлі. Він був знищений контрольованим вибухом.
Зазначається, що внаслідок інциденту ніхто не постраждав.

Сильний вітер роздув полум’я в районі Схіматарі, приблизно за 50 км від столиці, через різке підвищення температури повітря.
Чиновники закликали мешканців залишити місто Ділесі та зупинили рух місцевих поїздів. Понад 100 пожежників за підтримки чотирьох літаків та двох вертольотів борються з вогнем.
Аварійні бригади також намагаються загасити пожежу в районі Ахайї на півдні півострова Пелопоннес, звідки було евакуйовано чотири села.
Минулого року лісові пожежі знищили близько 300 000 акрів лісу та чагарників. Греція пережила найсильнішу спеку за 30 років.
Влітку 2018 року внаслідок найсильнішої лісової пожежі в Греції загинули 102 людини, коли вогонь охопив приморське місто Маті та прилеглі райони неподалік Афін.
