За даними правоохоронців, протестувальник облив себе бензином перед тим, як підпалити, чоловік мав при собі прапор Палестини.
BBC повідомляє, що особа і вік чоловіка наразі невідомі. Внаслідок інциденту опіки отримав і охоронець, який намагався перешкодити чоловіку здійснити самопідпал. Обох постраждалих доправили до лікарні.
Генеральний консул Ізраїлю в Південно-Східній Америці Анат Султан-Дадон після інциденту заявив, що «засмучений фактом самоспалення біля входу в будівлю дипломатичної установи».
