Білий дім розпорядився оприлюднити у повному обсязі тисячі документів про вбивство президента США Джона Кеннеді. Загальнодоступними в інтернеті стали понад 13 тис. файлів, це понад 97% архівних документів, присвячених цій справі.
Жодних гучних викриттів не очікується, але історики сподіваються дізнатися більше про підозрюваного вбивцю.
35-го президента США Джона Фіцджеральда Кеннеді застрелили під час візиту в Даллас, штат Техас, 22 листопада 1963 року.
Закон 1992 року вимагав, щоб уряд опублікував усі документи про вбивство до жовтня 2017 року.
У четвер президент Джо Байден видав указ, що дозволяє це розкриття інформації, але повідомив, що деякі файли залишаться засекреченими до червня 2023 року, оскільки їх публікація може завдати конкретної шкоди.
Національний архів США заявив, що повністю закритими залишаться 515 документів, а ще 2545 документів буде закрито частково.
Американське розслідування 1964 року, яке вела комісія Воррена, встановило, що Кеннеді убив американський громадянин Лі Гарві Освальд, який раніше проживав у Радянському Союзі, і що він діяв наодинці.
Смерть Джона Кеннеді породила численні теорії змови, зокрема про роль ЦРУ у цій справі. У четвер ЦРУ знову заявило, що ніколи не було пов’язане з Освальдом і не приховувало інформації про нього від американських слідчих.
Дослідники цієї справи сподівалися, що відкриття архіву розкриє більше інформації про те, що Освальд робив у Мехіко, де він у жовтні 1963 зустрічався з агентом КДБ.
У своїй останній заяві ЦРУ стверджує, що вся інформація, яка стосується його поїздки до Мехіко і наявна в агентстві, була раніше оприлюднена. Як заявляє ЦРУ, серед опублікованих документів нової інформації на цю тему немає.
Але дослідники з Фонду Мері Феррелл, некомерційної організації, яка вивчає історію та подала до суду на уряд з вимогою оприлюднити файли, заявили, що ЦРУ приховує інформацію про перебування Освальда в Мексиці.
У фонді стверджують, що деякі документи ЦРУ ніколи не вирушали до архівів і тому не увійшли до щойно опублікованої партії.
Один нещодавно оприлюднений документ показує, що президент Мексики допоміг США провести прослуховування телефонних розмов у радянському посольстві в Мексиці без відома інших офіційних осіб у мексиканському уряді.
Ця крихта інформації була прихована в раніше випущеній, відредагованій версії файлу, повідомляє телеканал CBS.
Білий дім заявив, що оприлюднення файлів дозволить громадськості краще зрозуміти перебіг розслідування вбивства.
Президент Байден також повідомив, що було перевірено майже 16 тис. записів, які раніше опублікували у відредагованому вигляді, і було вирішено, що понад 70% цих записів наразі можуть бути оприлюднені повністю.
Адміністрація Трампа опублікувала тисячі сторінок цієї справи за час його президентства, але залишила закритими інші міркування національної безпеки, попри закон 1992 року, який зобов’язує оприлюднити всю інформацію до 2017 року.
У жовтні 2021 року Байден оприлюднив ще близько 1500 документів, і ось зараз майже всі документи з архіву, присвяченого вбивству Джона Кеннеді, побачили світ.
