Як зазначили у пресслужбі Міністерства закордонних справ Швеції, співробітники посольства у Багдаді не постраждали.
Шведське МЗС засудили напад і наголосили на необхідності захисту дипломатичних представництв з боку іракської влади.
Демонстрацію скликали прихильники шиїтського священнослужителя Муктади Садра, щоб протестувати проти запланованого спалення Корану в Швеції.
Люди почали збиратися біля посольства близько першої години ночі в четвер, скандуючи гасла на підтримку Садра. Через годину вони почали штурмувати будівлю посольства.
Згодом з будівлі посольства почав підійматися дим.
Напередодні стало відомо, що поліція Стокгольма схвалила заявку на здійснення акції біля посольства Іраку у Швеції в четвер, під час якої планується спалення Корана та іракського прапора.
Попередні акції зі спаленням Корану у Швеції, проведені під різними приводами, також спровокували велике обурення у мусульманському світі та серйозний напад на посольство країни у Багдаді.

Посольство Нідерландів у Багдаді розташоване в «Зеленій зоні», навколо якої тривають перестрілки, а посольство Німеччини знаходиться за межами цієї зони. «Щойно ситуація знову стане безпечною, співробітники повернуться до посольства Нідерландів», – повідомили в міністерстві.
Міністерство закордонних справ Нідерландів закликало громадян покинути Ірак. «Ризик безпеці серйозний, не зволікайте з виїздом», – наголосили в МЗС. У відомстві також додали: якщо ситуація із безпекою погіршиться, посольство, ймовірно, не зможе допомогти голландцям, які вирішать залишитися в Іраку.
Із початку тижня у Багдаді в результаті сутичок загинуло вже понад 20 людей. Прихильники шиїтського священнослужителя Муктади аль-Садра, який подав у відставку, зайняли урядові будівлі у столиці і вступили в сутички в урядовому кварталі не тільки з поліцією, але й з представниками політичних груп, яких підтримує Іран. У вівторок ракети, випущені іракськими бойовиками, влучили в «Зелену зону». Наразі зіткнення між ворогуючими шиїтськими групами тривають.

У Багдаді виникли сутички, коли прихильники одного з домінуючих шиїтських політичних блоків після захоплення будівлі уряду в понеділок штурмували і президентський палац. Армія Іраку негайно оголосила комендантську годину. За наявною інформацією, щонайменше дванадцять людей загинуло, сотні отримали поранення.
Заворушення розпочалися після того, як лідер іракських шиїтів Муктада аль-Садр у понеділок оголосив про свою відставку. Його прихильники, які минулого місяця штурмували парламент, а потім кілька тижнів проводили сидячий страйк, у понеділок у відповідь штурмували кілька урядових будівель у столиці й зіткнулися не лише з поліцією, але й із політичними групами, які підтримує Іран.
Сили оборони Іраку в понеділок вдень оголосили про введення загальнонаціональної комендантської години з 19:00 за місцевим часом, закінчення якої ще не визначено. Подібні заворушення виникли в кількох провінціях на півдні країни, де більшість населення становлять шиїти. Виконуючий обов’язки прем’єр-міністра Іраку Мустафа аль-Кадімі призупинив засідання уряду через заворушення та закликав аль-Садра наказати своїм прихильникам покинути урядові будівлі.
Представництво ООН в Іраку також закликало протестувальників звільнити будівлі прихильників аль-Садра «остерігатися дій, які можуть спровокувати нестримний ланцюг подій».
У заяві наголошується, що «на кону – існування держави». Шиїтський проповідник користувався широкою підтримкою, оскільки відкидав як американське, так і іранське втручання у внутрішню політику Іраку. Він заявив, що не вважає, ніби хтось із тих, хто був при владі після вторгнення США в Ірак у 2003 році, повинен бути на посадах. Екстремальні погодні умови не сприяють Іраку в ці дні, оскільки раніше ЗМІ повідомляли про подібні випадки у травні: у понеділок через піщані бурі тимчасово закрили міжнародний аеропорт у столиці Іраку Багдаді та аеропорт в Наджафі, – пише MTI.
Білий пісок і хмара пилу, що заполонили центральний Ірак, покрили Багдад та його околиці, обмеживши видимість лише кількома сотнями метрів.
У Наджафі, священному місті шиїтів, яке щорічно приймає мільйони паломників з усього світу, аеропорт також зупинив свою роботу на короткий час.
У піщаних бурях, які повторюються із середини квітня, наразі загинула одна людина, а тисячі були госпіталізовані через утруднене дихання.
Президент Іраку Бархам Салах закликав до негайних дій проти зміни клімату, оскільки його країну влітку, на додаток до піщаних бур, останніми тижнями вразила екстремальна спека, температура повітря наближається до 50 градусів за Цельсієм.
Влада каже, що Ірак є однією з країн, які найбільше постраждали від зміни клімату та опустелювання. За оцінками експертів, подібна погода очікується в Іраку протягом 272 днів на рік найближчими десятиліттями.

Таким чином, цей запуск ракети став 28-м за сім місяців. “Ракета завдала матеріальної шкоди, однак внаслідок атаки ніхто не постраждав”, – повідомила Служба безпеки Іраку.
Жодна з груп не взяла на себе відповідальність за напад, але Вашингтон звинувачує у подібних атаках іракські збройні групи, які симпатизують Ірану.
