Кілька членів сім’ї сирійського диктатора у вигнанні Башара Асада були заарештовані в аеропорту Бейрута в п’ятницю, коли вони намагалися втекти до Єгипту за фальшивими паспортами, – передає інформаційний портал AP.
Дружина і дочка одного з двоюрідних братів Асада намагалися переправити родичів до Єгипту через Ліван, але ліванська влада втрутилася в цей процес. Проте дядькові поваленого диктатора, Ріфату Асаду, колишньому віцепрезиденту Сирії, вдалося покинути країну за один день, скориставшись справжнім паспортом. Швейцарська влада розшукувала його за військові злочини – тортури і вбивства, скоєні чотири десятиліття тому (двоє членів сім’ї заарештовані – дружина сина Ріфата, Раса, і його дочка, Самс).
Ріфаат відомий як «кат Хами» Асада, оскільки він очолював артилерійський підрозділ, який бомбардував місто Хама, в результаті чого загинули тисячі людей.
За даними з джерел ліванської влади, після падіння Асада на кордоні було заарештовано понад 20 високопоставлених військових і розвідників, багато з яких намагалися зібрати гроші, пропонуючи свою зброю на продаж.
В результаті авіаудару виникла пожежа в житловому будинку в мікрорайоні Башура, неподалік від штаб-квартири ООН, офісу прем’єр-міністра і будівлі парламенту.
Щонайменше шість людей загинуло та 11 отримали поранення в центрі Бейрута внаслідок ізраїльського авіаудару по житловому будинку, повідомило Міністерство охорони здоров’я Лівану.
В результаті цього авіаудару виникла пожежа в одній із квартир багатоповерхового будинку в мікрорайоні Башура, неподалік від штаб-квартири ООН, офісу прем’єр-міністра і будівлі парламенту. На місце події прибули карети швидкої допомоги.
Мешканці Бейрута повідомили про запах сірки в місті після авіаудару. Пізніше державне інформаційне агентство Лівану звинуватило Ізраїль у використанні заборонених міжнародним стандартом фосфорних бомб під час авіаудару по центральному району Бейрута Башура.
Раніше правозахисні групи звинувачували Ізраїль у використанні запалювальних снарядів з білого фосфору в охоплених конфліктом південних містах і селах Лівану.
Удари Ізраїлю по центру Бейрута – рідкість. Вищезгаданий став першим із часів лівано-ізраїльської війни 2006 року.

Жителі Бейрута стверджують, що північна частина елеватора впала після того, як пролунав звук, схожий на вибух.
До інциденту в порту кілька тижнів продовжувалася пожежа. Вогонь спалахнув через бродіння зерна в спекотну погоду. Пожежники Бейрута не змогли впоратися з пожежею, тому вогонь продовжував тліти.
Варто нагадати, що силосні зерносховища були пошкоджені в серпні 2020 року, коли в порту Бейрута прогриміли потужні вибухи. Тоді там здетонували 2750 тонн аміачної селітри.
В результаті події в столиці Лівану загинули не менше 280 осіб, ще понад 6 тисяч отримали поранення.

A quiet morning in Bucharest turned catastrophic when an explosion tore through the 5th and 6th floors of an 8-story apartment building, killing 3 people and injuring more than a dozen.

Один з очевидців, який знаходився за кілька кілометрів, розповів CNN, що все було наче землетрус, після вибуху квартира тряслася горизонтально, а хвиля виявилася такою потужною, що вибила вікна в будинках по всій столиці.
За інформацією Guardian, міністр охорони здоров’я Лівану заявив, що постраждали десятки людей, але більше деталей не розголошував. Однак, за його словами, вибухнув не склад, а корабель у порту, який перевозив феєрверки.
