 Bejelentés érkezett a szolyvai rendőrségre, arról, hogy egy 42 éves férfit eszméletlen állapotban szállítottak a helyi kórház intenzív osztályára. Néhány órával később a férfi elhunyt.
 
 A rendőrök megállapították, hogy a férfi fejsérülései következtében vesztette életét.
 Kiderült, hogy a kórházba szállítást megelőzően a 42 éves férfi egy 41 éves hölgy ismerősével alkoholt fogyasztott az. Ekkor érkezett a házhoz az asszony élettársa, akivel hosszú ideje nem éltek együtt.
 Később féltékenység miatt konfliktus alakult ki a férfiak között. A konfliktus során az 50 éves férfi több ütést mért a 42 éves férfi arcára, majd meglökte, minek következtében a sértett elesett és a fejét egy betonfelülethez ütötte.
 Az 50 éves gyanúsítottat a rendőrök elfogták, és büntetőeljárást indítottak ellene.

 A rendőrség és az operatív nyomozócsoport azonnal elindult a hívásra. A helyszínen a rendőrök holtan találták a bejelentő 53 éves édesanyját, erőszakos halálra utaló jelekkel. A rendőrség munkatársai a helyszínen azonnal őrizetbe vették a gyilkosság feltételezett gyanúsítottját. A nyomozók átvizsgálták a bűncselekmény helyszínét, és számos tárgyi bizonyítékot foglaltak le.
 
 Később sikerült kideríteni a részleteket: az események a sértett és az elkövető közös ismerősének lakásában történtek. A férfi és a nő között féltékenységi alapon veszekedés alakult ki, melynek során a férfi ittas állapotban több mint 8 sebet ejtett élettársán egy konyhakéssel. A nő belehalt sérüléseibe.
 
 Az 50 éves gyanúsított a Luhanszk megyei Liszicsanszkban született, életéből 20 évet töltött börtönben különféle bűncselekmények elkövetéséért. Három hónapja vagyon elleni bűncselekmények miatt 5 év börtönbüntetésre ítélték az elkövetőt, de a bíróság 1 év próbaidővel felmentette a büntetés letöltése alól. A férfi beismerte a bűncselekmény elkövetését.
 Ideiglenes letartóztatásba helyezték. Szándékos emberölés miatt akár 15 év börtönbüntetést is kaphat. A nyomozás folyamatban van.

 A rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint koraeste 18:00 óra körül egy bolti eladó hívta a rendőrségi ügyeletet segítséget kérve. A megjelölt címre kiérkezve a rendőrök megállapították, hogy az eladót megkereste a 32 éves élettársa, aki féltékenységi jelenetet rendezett. A konfliktus közben a férfi gránátot dobott az üzlethelyiségbe.
 A férfi ellen a büntetőtörvénykönyv 296. cikkelyének 4. része alapján garázdaság (huliganizmus) címén indult büntetőeljárás. Az elkövetőt akár 7 év börtön is fenyegetheti. A férfit már őrizetbe vették.

Mint a gyilkosság után a nyomozóknak elmondta, december 25-e éjszakáján a felesége megígérte neki, hogy szexelni fog vele, és ő be is vette a viagrát, de az asszony nemet mondott, befordult és elaludt. Erre az öreg dühbe gurult, felkapott egy kést, és négyszer mellkason szúrta. Az egyik döfés a szívét találta el, amitől azonnal meghalt.
 Cangini másnap reggel kivitte a kutyáját sétáltatni, és egyik barátjának elmondta, mit tett, de az nem hitte el. Majd egy vendéglőben sok bor kíséretében megebédelt, és felhívta annak az étteremnek a tulajdonosát, ahol a felesége szakácsként dolgozott, és akit az asszony szeretőjének gondolt, közölve vele, hogy Natalja többet nem megy be hozzá, mert meghalt. A helyszínre kiérkező rendőrök az ukrán nőt vérbe fagyva találták.
