A cikk szerint az iskolában egy tanév végi rendezvényt tartottak, és az ugrálóvár mellett más játékok is voltak. A helyiek beszámolója szerint aznap nem volt különösen erős a szél, de vélhetően egy erősebb lökés letéphette a játékot a rögzítéséről, miközben a gyerekek benne voltak. A gyerekek ezután mintegy tíz méterről zuhantak a földre.
A sérülteket ezután mentő helikopterrel szállították a kórházba. Az első jelentések még egy halálos áldozatról szóltak, ezt később pontosították. Öt gyereket kórházban ápolnak.
A baleset után Scott Morrison, ausztrál kormányfő, és Peter Gutwein, Tasmánia miniszterelnöke is részvétét fejezte ki az áldozatok családtagjainak.
