Четверо людей загинулo, ще одна людина отримала важкі травми в результаті падіння повітряної кулі в пустелі неподалік міста Елой, штат Арізона, повідомила місцева поліція.
Трагедія сталася в пустельному районі округу Пінал, приблизно за п’ять миль на північ від міста, о 7:30 ранку за місцевим часом, повідомила поліція Елоя.
Мер міста повідомив ЗМІ, що на момент аварії на повітряній кулі перебувало загалом 13 людей – восьмеро парашутистів, чотири інші пасажири та пілот.
За словами очевидців, інцидент стався відразу після того, як парашутисти покинули корзину повітряної кулі, яка почала хаотично крутитися і зрештою із великою силою вдарилася об землю.
Одна людина загинула на місці, інші троє постраждалих померли в лікарні, п’ятого госпіталізували у критичному стані.
Причину падіння повітряної кулі встановлюють правоохоронці.
