Több ember meghalt, és zavargások törtek ki Mexikóban azután, hogy őrizetbe vették a Köpcös (El Chapo) néven ismert maffiavezér fiát.
A mexikói hatóságok nemrég fogták el Joaquín Guzmán maffiavezér fiát, Ovidio Guzmán-Lópezt. Erre reagálva Mexikó Sinaloa nevű szövetségi államában a bűnbandák azzal válaszoltak, hogy útzárakat állítottak fel, járműveket gyújtottak fel, és még egy repteret is megtámadtak.
A harcokban legalább három rendőr meghalt, és a sinaloai kormányzó szerint legalább 18 embert kórházba kellett szállítani. A reptéren két repülőt is találat ért, egyet épp akkor, amikor felszállásra készült.
A megtámadott reptéren, valamint két másik reptéren is törölni kellett számos járatot (összesen több mint százat). A lövöldözések csütörtök délután is folytatódtak, és pénteken az iskolák egyáltalán nem nyitnak ki Sinaloában.
Valószínűleg nem független a belpolitikai fejleményektől az sem, hogy Joe Biden amerikai elnök mexikói látogatását is egy nappal előrébb hozták a tervezetthez képest. Az USA elnöke így vasárnap érkezik az országba.

A BBC szerint Ovidio Guzmán-Lópezt (becenevén: az Egér) azzal gyanúsítják a hatóságok, hogy ő vezette az édesapja által létrehozott drogkartellt. Maga a Köpcös már 2019 óta rács mögött van, mivel drogkereskedelem és pénzmosás miatt életfogytiglanra ítélték.
El Chapo fiát 2019-ben egyszer már elfogták, de akkor rövid időn belül szabadon engedték, attól tartva, hogy a támogatói erőszakos cselekményekkel válaszolhatnak. Most egy hat hónapos akció eredményeként, az Egyesült Államok segítségével sikerült ismét elfogniuk őt a mexikóiaknak. Az Egér az amerikaiaknak is a bögyükben volt, ugyanis korábban 5 millió dolláros jutalmat ajánlottak fel annak, aki az elfogásához vezető információval tud szolgálni.
Az amerikai külügy szerint Ovidio Guzmán-López és testvére, Joaquín jelenleg 11 droglabort irányítanak Sinaloában, ahol havonta körülbelül 1300-2200 kilogrammnyi drogot állíthatnak elő. Ezen túl Ovidio Guzmán-Lópezt azzal is gyanúsítják, hogy számos gyilkosságra adott parancsot, többek között egy mexikói énekest is meggyilkoltatott azért, mert nem volt hajlandó fellépni az esküvőjén.
