31 жовтня в другій половині дня, коли яхта Grazie Mamma пливла вздовж узбережжя, її оточила зграя косаток. Вони тримали судно в облозі майже годину, пробили дірку в днищі й відірвали кермо. Через ці ушкодження яхта зрештою пішла під воду. Власник судна, Лех Левандовський, також був на борту. Незважаючи на зусилля капітана, екіпажу та рятувальників з ПАР, портових буксирів та ВМС Марокко, яхту не вдалося врятувати, і вона затонула недалеко від входу до порту Танжер Мед. Проте всіх членів екіпажу та мандрівників вдалося врятувати й доставити до Іспанії.
У заяві власник висловив занепокоєння з приводу збільшення кількості нападів косаток. Він додав, що яхта була спеціально обладнана, щоб витримувати екстремальні умови, але атака тварин знищила судно.
Останнім часом у водах Іспанії сталося багато подібних інцидентів. З травня 2020 року було зафіксовано кілька сотень атак косаток на човни.
