Balesetet szenvedett Claudia Sheinbaum leendő mexikói államfő konvojának egyik autója pénteken, a karambolban érintett másik jármű egyik utasa elhunyt – közölte a hónap elején megválasztott elnök irodája.
Sheinbaum és kísérete Coahulia északi államba tartott, a baleset Monclovánál történt. A város polgármestere úgy nyilatkozott, hogy a konvoj a megengedettnél gyorsabban közlekedett.
A halálos áldozat egy idős nő. Az ütközésnek több sérültje is volt, őket kórházba kellett szállítani. Sheinbaumnak nem esett baja, és a közlemény szerint a helyszínen kiszállt járművéből, hogy személyesen győződjön meg a sérültek állapotáról.
A hónap elején megválasztott új elnök – aki még nem lépett hivatalba – elődjével, Andrés Manuel López Obradorral együtt azoknak a bányászoknak a hozzátartozóival találkozott Coahuliában, akik egy 2006-os szerencsétlenségben meghaltak.
