Azt írták, a tűzesetnek nincsenek sérültjei, ellenben az anyagi kár nagy. A tájékoztatás szerint a tűz a szomszédos épületben keletkezett, de a tűzoltók nem tudták megakadályozni a továbbterjedését a magyar házra. Az épület leégett, a berendezés nagy része is odaveszett.
„Ebben a házunkban napközis rendszerben működő óvoda, egy tanterem, egy ebédlő, konyha szolgálta a trunki gyermekeket, de ugyanitt szolgálati lakás is volt, melyben három pedagógusunk lakott” – írta a szövetség.

Közölték: a szövetség szeretné mielőbb helyreállítani a leégett épületet, és eredeti rendeltetésével visszaadni a trunki közösségnek. Ennek érdekében gyűjtést hirdetnek, az adományokat a szövetség bankszámláira várják.
A moldvai Bákó megyében található, Ferdinándújfalu községhez tartozó Trunknak mintegy 1200 lakosa van, korábbi becslések szerint nagy többségük magyar nemzetiségű.
A faluban – a többi moldvai csángó településhez hasonlóan – nincs hivatalos magyar nyelvű oktatás, a magyar nyelv tanítása délutáni oktatási program keretében zajlott a magyar házban.
A csángószövetség 35 Bákó megyei településen működteti a magyar oktatási programot a magyar kormány támogatásával, falvanként 15 és 100 között mozog a részt vevő gyermekek száma.
