A két gyanúsított a gyerek anyja, és egy nő, aki az ördögűzést végrehajtotta. Hétfőn állnak bíróság elé.
A rendőrség szóvivője szerint az anya azt hitte, a kislányát megszállta egy démon, ezért elvitte az ördögűző otthonába, hogy kiűzhessék belőle a gonosz szellemet.
Az ördögűző nő először olajat öntött a lányra, majd egy pálcával ütni kezdte az arcát. Addig verte, míg a kislány elájult.
A gyereket kórházba vitték, de az orvosok már nem tudták megmenteni az életét.
A rendőrség nyomoz az ügyben, és vizsgálják, a nő máson is végrehajtott-e hasonló erőszakos cselekményt – írja az ABC News.
A rendőrség arra kéri a lakosságot, hogy legyenek óvatosak az ilyen szolgáltatásokkal, mivel nem a kislány volt az első, aki meghalt egy ilyen rituálé közben.

Belehalt egy tízéves lány egy hagyományos muszlim gyógyító szertartásba Algériában, a lány testén ütlegelések nyomai és égési sérülések voltak. Az eset nagy felháborodást váltott ki az észak-afrikai országban, ahol a vallási gyógyítás és ördögűzés most is elég elterjedt. A 28 éves gyógyítót letartóztatták.
A szertartásra a lány otthonában, Guelma városban került sor, ahonnan súlyos sérülésekkel vitték kórházba, de ott sem sikerült megmenteni az életét. Az ügyész elrendelte a test boncolását, az Allah nevében fellépő gyógyítót pedig letartóztatták.
A ruqya néven ismert vallási gyógyító szertartások ma is elég népszerűek az iszlámban, a modern korban alternatív gyógyászatként is jelen vannak. Az ördögűzés, démonoktól való megszállottság elleni szertartásoknak megvan a gyökere az iszlám vallásjogban és népi vallásosságban, ezek szabályozzák a megengedhető és tiltott gyakorlatokat is. A beteg agyonverése természetesen nem tartozik az utóbbiak közé. Különösen mentális problémák esetén azonban a szertartások könnyen visszaélésekhez vezethetnek a kritikusok szerint. A lány halála a Guardian cikke szerint nagy felháborodást váltott ki Algériában a közösségi médiában, ahol kínzásról és kivégzésről írnak.
