A vadászgépnek engedélyezték, hogy átlépje a hangsebességet, ezért Washingtonban vasárnap délután hangrobbanás volt hallható. A kisrepülő végül semmire nem reagált, és Virginia államban lezuhant.
A pilóta nem válaszolt, és a gép végül a George Washington nemzeti parknál, Virginia államban lezuhant.
„Az észak-amerikai légtérvédelem, a NORAD az utolsó pillanatig próbált kapcsolatban lépni a pilótával” – tudatta a Pentagon.
