Ismeretlen tettesek vasárnapra virradóra megrongálták Petőfi Sándornak a kelet-szlavóniai Harasztiban lévő egyetlen horvátországi kültéri mellszobrát – közölte Szenn Péter, a Horvátországi Református Keresztyén Kálvini Egyház (HRKKE) püspöke az MTI-vel.
A bronzból készült mű Hunyadi László marosvásárhelyi szobrászművész alkotása. Az alkotást közadományokból állították az egyház kezdeményezésére, és 2014. március 15-én avatták fel Haraszti főterén.
A püspök elmondta: nem tudják, hogy a mellszobrot színesfémtolvajok próbálták-e meg eltulajdonítani, és tettüket anyagi haszonszerzés motiválta, vagy magyarellenes cselekedetről van szó, de a felháborodás óriási.
„Az így is gyenge lábakon álló haraszti magyar identitás most a földön hever” – fogalmazott, utalva arra, hogy a szobor a talpazatról ledöntve, arccal a földre dőlt.
A HRKKE felszólította a rendőrséget, hogy mihamarabb kerítse kézre a bűncselekmény elkövetőit.
