Augusztus 30-án, a nyugat-ukrajnai Lviv városában, a déli órákban egy lövöldözés során megölték Andrij Parubijt, az Ukrán Legfelsőbb Tanács volt elnökét. Erről az RBK-Ukrajina számolt be Volodimir Zelenszkij ukrán elnök Telegram-csatornájára, az Ukrán Nemzeti Rendőrség Telegramjára és a rendvédelmi szervek forrásaira hivatkozva. A rendőrség adatai szerint szombat dél körül a 102-es segélyhívóra egy lövöldözésről érkezett bejelentés Lviv Frankivszki kerületében. A sérült, akiről kiderült, hogy egy ismert ukrán közéleti és politikai személyiség, Andrij Parubij, a helyszínen életét vesztette. Makszim Kozickij, a Lviv Megyei Katonai Adminisztráció vezetője közölte, hogy keresik az elkövetőt. Tájékoztatása szerint minden illetékes szolgálat részt vesz a keresésben. A jelentések szerint az áldozat még az orvosok kiérkezése előtt meghalt. Az RBK-Ukrajina forrásai szerint a gyilkosság helyszínén hét töltényhüvelyt találtak, a tettes pedig előzetes információk szerint futárnak álcázta magát. Az esettel kapcsolatban Volodimir Zelenszkij is megszólalt. Közösségi oldalán azt írta: „Ukrajna belügyminisztere, Ihor Klimenko és Ruszlan Kravcsenko legfőbb ügyész éppen most számoltak be a Lvivben történt szörnyű gyilkosság első ismert körülményeiről. Meghalt Andrij Parubij. Őszinte részvétem a családnak és a hozzátartozóknak”. Az államfő hozzátette, hogy minden szükséges erőt és eszközt bevetnek a nyomozás és a gyilkos felkutatása érdekében. Andrij Szadovij, Lviv polgármestere mindeközben a médiához fordult a volt házelnök meggyilkolásával kapcsolatban: „Kérem az újságírókat, hogy viszonyuljanak megértéssel a helyzethez, és ne kérjenek további kommentárokat. Most a rendőrségnek kell dolgoznia és nyilatkoznia” – mondta a polgármester. Hangsúlyozta, hogy most a legfontosabb, hogy a rendvédelmi szervek elfogják a gyilkost és feltárják az összes körülményt. Ez biztonsági kérdés egy háborúban álló országban, ahol – mint fogalmazott – nincsenek teljesen biztonságos helyek.
