Троє ізраїльтян було вбито, ще семеро поранено в північній частині контрольованого палестинцями Західного берега річки Йордан озброєними людьми, які напали на автобус, повідомило військове радіо, із посиланням на інформацію ізраїльської служби з питань надзвичайних ситуацій.
Згідно з повідомленням, загинули дві 60-річні жінки і один 40-річний чоловік. Водій автобуса отримав важкі поранення, троє – травми середньої тяжкості, ще троє – легкі травми.
Бойовики прибули на автомобілі в палестинське село аль-Фундук, виїхали на шосе 55, яке там проходить, після чого обстріляли автобус із ізраїльтянами та два приватні автомобілі з ізраїльськими номерами, сіли знову в свою машину та втекли.
Згідно із заявою ізраїльської армії, військові вистежили нападників, встановили блокпости та оточили кілька прилеглих палестинських поселень.
Мешканці єврейських поселень Кедумім і Севі-Самарія мають використовувати маршрут через шосе 55, щоби перетнути Аль-Фундук і їхати на захід. Це одна з останніх ділянок дороги на Західному березі річки Йордан, де для поселенців ще не прокладено маршрут в обхід палестинських сіл.

Ізраїльський військовий і двоє палестинських бойовиків були вбиті в нічній перестрілці на кордоні, що на західному березі ріки Йордан, на північ від Дженіна, – повідомив новинний портал газети Yediót Ahronót ynet у середу.
За даними військового радіо, палестинці напали на ізраїльських солдатів біля переходу Джамла, що веде з території Ізраїлю 1967 року на західний берег. Спочатку один із військових вартових помітив палестинців, які ховалися за 15 метрів від прикордонної огорожі, на камерах спостереження. Хоча й не бачив, що у них була зброя. Він попередив ізраїльський підрозділ, який кинувся до кордону. Палестинці відкрили вогонь по ізраїльських солдатах, у результаті перестрілки були вбиті ізраїльський військовий і двоє палестинців.
Палестинські ЗМІ ідентифікували палестинських жертв як Ахмеда Абеда та Абдула Рахмана Абеда із села Кафр-Дан біля Дженіна. Ахмед Абед був офіцером розвідки служби безпеки Палестинської влади.
За даними ізраїльської армії, палестинці, можливо, готувалися стріляти в ізраїльських солдатів. Днем раніше вони також відкрили вогонь по військовій електростанції неподалік від місця сутички.
Останніми тижнями напруга значно зросла, головним чином у північній частині західного берега, навколо Дженіна, де ізраїльські сили провели численні рейди з метою арешту палестинців, підозрюваних у терористичній діяльності.
