Mintegy ötmillió méh pusztult el a Delta Air Line amerikai légitársaság Alaszka felé tartó járatán. A légitársaság szóvivője sajnálatosnak nevezte az esetet, az ügyben vizsgálatot indítanak.
A méheket egy alaszkai méhész rendelte Kaliforniából azzal a céllal, hogy az Alaszkában nem őshonos rovarok almafák és facsemeték beporzásában segédkezzenek. A méheket az eredeti terv szerint Alaszka legnagyobb városába, Anchorage-ba szállították volna múlt hét végén, de a rekeszek túl nagy helyet foglaltak, és emiatt egy atlantai járatra kerültek át, onnan kellett volna Alaszkába jutniuk.
A 48 ezer dollár (17,2 millió forint) értékű szállítmány azonban valahogy lekéste a csatlakozást, és az atlantai repülőtéren már csak azt fedezték fel, hogy a méhek rekeszeit több órára kitették a szabadba, és az állatok többsége elpusztult a hőségben.
A Delta Air Lines szóvivője szerencsétlennek nevezte az esetet, és arról tájékoztatott, hogy a társaság felülvizsgálja belső szabályzatát annak biztosítására, hogy hasonló incidens ne fordulhasson elő a jövőben.
A légitársaság bocsánatot kért a megkárosított alasykai méhésztől, aki elmondta, korábban már több alkalommal sikerrel szállíttatott méheket Kaliforniából Alaszkába Seattle érintésével.
Kaliforniai beszállítója most ismét feladja neki a megrendelt méheket, és a méhész abban reménykedik, hogy a légitársaság is valamilyen módon segítséget nyújt majd az állatok ismételt utaztatásához. Azt azonban a méhész is elismerte, hogy az élő állatok szállítása komoly kockázatokkal jár – számolt be az MTI.

A hágai Nemzetközi Bíróság ügyészeiből álló csapat már megérkezett Lengyelországba, hogy kivizsgálja az Orosz Föderáció háborús bűneit.
A hírt Andrzej Duda lengyel elnök közölte – írja a Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Duda hangsúlyozta, hogy Ukrajnából számos menekült érkezett Lengyelországba, akik szemtanúi voltak otthonaik lerombolásának, szomszédjaik meggyilkolásának, kórházak bombázásának, a civilek és gyerekek ellen elkövetett tánadásoknak.
A lengyel elnök elmondta, hogy sok bizonyíték van még feljegyzések formájában is Lengyelországban.
„Gyűjtjük a bizonyítékokat. A munka folyamatban van, és úgy gondolom, hogy nagyon súlyos vádakhoz fog vezetni, és hiszek abban, hogy elítélik a háborús bűnösöket” – jelentette ki.

Az Angol Futballszövetség (FA) vizsgálatot indított a Premier League-ben szereplő Arsenal egyik játékosa ellen egy fogadási csalás gyanúja miatt.
A játékost magát nem nevezték meg, de az kiderül a BBC cikkéből, hogy a szezon egy korábban lejátszott bajnokijáról van szó, ahol a londoniak egyik játékosának sárga lapja keltett gyanút. A szokatlan fogadási aktivitásra az egyik fogadóiroda hívta fel az FA figyelmét, amelyik azonnal vizsgálatot indított.
Az FA ugyan nem nevesítette a gyanúsítottat, szurkolók azonban tudni vélik, hogy az Arsenal svájci válogatott focistájáról, Granit Xhakáról lehet szó, aki a Leeds United ellen idegenbeli mérkőzésen 4-1-es vezetésnél a 86. percben időhúzásért kapott sárga lapot. Nem sokkal azt követően, hogy élő fogadás formájában valaki több mint 50 ezer fontot tett rá, hogy Xhaka sárgát kap.
Az angol futballban eddig egy hasonló eset volt: 2018-ban Lincoln City védője, Bradley Wood kapott hat évre szóló eltiltást, miután kiderült, hogy az FA-kupa előző kiírásában kétszer is szándékosan kapott sárga lapot, miután erre fogadott. A büntetéséből öt évet ezért kapott, további egy évet pedig azért mert elismerte, hogy legalább 22 alkalommal fogadott focimeccsek végkimenetelére, ami ugyancsak szigorúan tilos az angol fociban. És máshol is, a skót bajnokságban például az angol Joey Bartont tiltották el, miután kiderült, hogy több tucat alkalommal fogadott skót bajnoki meccsekre.

Vizsgálatot indított az amerikai Járványügyi és Betegségmegelőzési Központ (CDC) egy aggasztó felfedezés után.
A CDC-hez ugyanis egy pennsylvaniai laboratóriumból érkezett bejelentés, miszerint az egyik dolgozó hűtőtakarítás közben több fiolát is felfedett, ami a „himlő” címkével volt ellátva – számolt be róla a The Straits Times.
Belsie Gonzalez, a CDC szóvivője közölte, hogy ez pont egy olyan laboratóriumban történt, ahol védőoltások kutatása folyik. Hozzátette, hogy azonnal szoktak a rendvédelemnek is, akikkel közösen megkezdték a rejtélyes és aggasztó fiolák vizsgálatát.
Gonzalez hangsúlyozta, hogy a laboratóriumi dolgozó, aki felfedezte a fiolákat, kesztyűt és maszkot is viselt, így ő nem került kontaktusba a kórokozóval. Mint fogalmazott, egyelőre nincs tudomásuk arról, hogy bárki is kapcsolatba került a fiolákkal, amelyek csak kis számban voltak a hűtőkben.
Egyelőre nem tudni pontosan, merre található Pennsylvaniában az a laboratórium, ahol a fiolák voltak és pontosan mennyi lehetett. A New York Times több forrásból is azt a választ kapta, hogy kevés fioláról van szó.
A variola vírus által okozott himlő egy olyan fertőző betegség volt, amely évszázadokon át pusztító járványokat okozott, a CDC szerint minden 10 esetből mintegy 3 halálos kimenetellel zárult. A himlő leginkább a kiütéseiről ismert, de magas lázzal is járhat.
A WHO becslései szerint csak a huszadik században 300 millió ember életét követelte a betegség, azonban már oltásokkal el lehet nyomni. A világszervezet szerint utoljára 1977-ben, Szomáliában találtak olyan beteget, aki természetesen fertőződött meg a himlővel.

A rendőrség nyomozói vizsgálják a halálos kimenetelű közlekedési balesetek körülményeit az Ökörmező melletti Majdánkán és az ungvári járási Ungtölgyesen. Az egyik sofőr ittas volt. A vádlottat őrizetbe vették.
Október 12-én este 21:30-kor érkezett rendőrségi bejelentés, miszerint az Ökörmező melletti Majdánkán baleset történt, a sérültek között gyerekek is vannak. A bejelentésre egy nyomozó munkacsoport érkezett a helyszínre, amely megállapította, hogy Majdánka település 33 éves lakója elvesztette uralmát az általa vezetett Audi A4 felett, az árokba hajtott és felborult.
A baleset következtében a sofőr 12 éves fia a helyszínen belehalt sérüléseibe. A többi utas: sofőr 10 éves lánya és másfél éves fia különböző fokú sérülésekkel került kórházba. Maga a sofőr és 31 éves felesége nem sérültek meg. Az orvosi vizsgálat megállapította, hogy a volán mögött ülő férfi ittas volt: vérében 1,54 ppm alkoholt találtak.
Az eset kapcsán büntetőeljárást indult Ukrajna Büntető Törvénykönyve 286-1. cikkelyének 3. része alapján: közlekedésbiztonsági szabályok megsértése vagy közlekedési jármű ittas állapotban való vezetése, amely az áldozat halálához vezetett alapján. Az Audi A4 sofőrjét Ukrajna Büntető Törvénykönyve 208. Cikkelye értelmében ideiglenesen őrizetbe vették.
Még egy baleset történt ugyanazon a napon 21 órakor az ungvári járási Ungtölgyesen település határánál. A rendőrség nyomozói a bejelentést követően a helyszínre érkezve megállapították, hogy egy 18 éves ungvári lakos Volkswagen Caddyvel elütötte az 51 éves munkácsi járási ignéci lakost, aki kerékpárjával váratlanul a szembejövő sávra hajtott ki. Sérülések következtében a férfi a helyszínen életét vesztette. Az autó sofőrje nem volt ittas. Az eset kapcsán büntetőeljárást indult Ukrajna Büntető Törvénykönyve 286. cikkelyének 2. része – közlekedésbiztonsági szabályok megsértése – alapján.
A balesetekben érintett gépkocsikat a rendőrség lefoglalta. Az előzetes vizsgálat során a rendőrség meghatározza a balesetek objektív körülményeit, számolt be a kárpátaljai megyei rendőrség kommunikációs osztálya.

Vizsgálatot indítottak Brazíliában annak kiderítése érdekében, hogy az egyik legnagyobb amerikai befektetési banknak számító JPMorgan Chase részt vett-e egy állítólagos vesztegetési és pénzmosási ügyben. A vizsgálat egy 2011-es ügyletre vonatkozik, amelyben érintett a Petrobras állami olajóriás is.
Vesztegetési és pénzmosási ügyben indult vizsgálat Brazíliában az egyik legnagyobb amerikai befektetési banknak számító JPMorgan ellen. Az eljárás célja annak kivizsgálása, hogy az amerikai óriás megvesztegetett-e kereskedőket egy 2011-es olajüzlet során, amelyben az állami olajóriás Petrobras is érintett – írja az RT.com.
A Reuters által idézett dokumentumok és források alapján a brazil hatóságok annak kapcsán nyomoznak, hogy 2011-ben a JPMorgan nagyjából 300 000 hordó gázolajat vásárolt a Petrobrastól. A vizsgálat arra irányul, hogy kiderüljön, vajon az amerikai nagybank mesterségesen alacsony áron jutott-e hozzá a szállítmányhoz. Felmerült ugyanis, hogy a JPMorgan ezt úgy érhette el, hogy közvetítő feleken keresztül kenőpénzt fizethetett a Petrobras alkalmazottainak. Az eljárás – amely egy átfogó, a helyi árupiacokat érintő vizsgálat része – emellett arra is kiterjed, hogy ez a jelenség előfordulhatott-e 2011 után is.
A Petrobas közben e-mailben közölte a Reuters szerkesztőségével, hogy „zéró toleranciát tanúsítanak minden csalással és korrupcióval szemben.” Mindazonáltal az amerikai és a brazil hatóságok azt gyanítják, hogy a Petrobras egyes kereskedői 2018-ig több mint egy évtizeden át fogadhattak el kenőpénzt üzleti partnerektől. A kenőpénzért cserébe pedig ezek a kereskedők állítólag vagy túlzottan magas árakon vásároltak üzemanyagot, vagy túlzottan alacsony árakon adtak el nyersanyagot.
Noha a vizsgálat eredményét természetesen nem lehet megjósolni, nem ez lenne az első eset, hogy a JPMorgan hasonló ügybe keveredik. Miként arról az Origo is beszámolt, tavaly a nagybank 920 millió dollárt fizetett annak érdekében, hogy lezárják egy árfolyammanipulálással kapcsolatos ügyét, és elismerte a jogsértéseket.

A koronavírus-járvány miatt több mint egy évig tartó szünet után kedden folytatódott a 2001. szeptember 11-i terrortámadások szervezésével vádolt személyek, köztük Hálid Sejk Mohammed pakisztáni iszlamista pere a kubai területen lévő, amerikaiak által fenntartott guantánamói börtöntáborban – jelentette be az amerikai védelmi minisztérium.
Az MTI tájékoztatása szerint az előzetes meghallgatások – amelyeken várhatóan részt vesznek áldozatok hozzátartozói is – szeptember 17-ig tartanak.
Sejk Mohammeden kívül további négy vádlott ügyében tartanak meghallgatásokat. A szeptember 11-i támadások szervezésén kívül összeesküvéssel, gyilkosságok elkövetésével, civilek elleni támadással és terrorizmussal vádolják őket. Amennyiben bűnösnek találják őket, akár halálbüntetés is várhat rájuk, amelynek módjáról a védelmi minisztérium döntene.

Hét évvel ezelőtt, 2014-ben öt magas rangú tálib tisztségviselő szabadulhatott a táborból fogolycsere keretében, amelyben a másik oldalon amerikai katonát engedtek szabadon a tálibok.
