A kínai kormány hazahívta manchesteri főkonzulátusának vezetőjét és öt másik diplomatáját, miután hónapokkal ezelőtt a képviselet területén megvertek egy tüntetőt. Az illető a bántalmazás következtében megsérült, a tüntetés helyszínét biztosító manchesteri rendőrök hozták ki a konzulátus területéről.
London az októberi incidens után felszólította az északnyugat-angliai nagyvárosban működő kínai képviselet érintett munkatársait, hogy mondjanak le diplomáciai mentelmi jogukról, annak érdekében, hogy a rendőrség kihallgathassa őket.
A brit kormány erről Pekinget is értesítette Kína londoni nagykövetségén keresztül, és szerdáig adott határidőt a kérés teljesítésére. A brit külügyminisztérium szerda esti ismertetése szerint azonban Peking ehelyett hazahívta a hat konzulátusi munkatársat, köztük Cseng Hszi-jüan főkonzult, aki tagadja a vádakat – számolt be az MTI.
Az eset előzményeként október 16-án hozzávetőleg negyven hongkongi demokráciapárti tüntető demonstrációt tartott a Manchesterben működő kínai konzulátus előtt. A képviseletről több, maszkot viselő ember kiment a tüntetők közé, akikkel összetűzésbe keveredtek, transzparenseiket letépték, egyiküket bevonszolták a konzulátus területére és ütlegelni kezdték.
A hongkongi illetőségű Bob Chant, aki a bántalmazás következtében megsérült, a tüntetés helyszínét biztosító manchesteri rendőrök hozták ki a konzulátus területéről.
Sértő tartalmú montázs miatt tüntettek
A kínai képviselet szóvivőjének nyilatkozata szerint az incidenst az okozta, hogy a tüntetők Hszi Csin-ping kínai elnököt ábrázoló, sértő tartalmú montázsokat helyeztek a konzulátus előtt, „ami bármely ország bármilyen szintű diplomáciai képviseleténél tűrhetetlen és elfogadhatatlan lenne”.
A helyszíni felvételek alapján az egyik portré kötéllel a nyakában ábrázolta a kínai államfőt. James Cleverly brit külügyminiszter a londoni parlamentnek küldött szerdai átiratában csalódottságának adott kifejezést amiatt, hogy a manchesteri konzulátus érintett munkatársait nem sikerült kihallgatni és szembesíteni az igazságszolgáltatással.
Cleverly ugyanakkor helyénvalónak nevezte, hogy „a szégyenteljes manchesteri jelenetek felelősei” a továbbiakban nem dolgoznak konzulátusi munkatársként az Egyesült Királyságban.

A bűnözők Londonban, Oxfordban, Bedfordshire-ben és Northamtonshire-ben ténykedtek, s 18 hónap alatt több mint 400 ezer fontot loptak el, Simon Moring főfelügyelő pedig jól szervezettnek titulálta őket.
Elmondása szerint lopott járműveket és klónozott rendszámokat használtak, valamint alaposan kiismerték a rendőrségi taktikákat, amely által jól tudták, mit is csinálnak, így kifejezetten nehéz volt kézre keríteni őket.
Az álcájuk alatt testpáncélt és töltött kézifegyvereket, valamint egyéb eszközöket rejtegettek, míg az arcukat símaszkkal takarták el, a bankautomatákat feltöltő biztonsági őrök ellen pedig erőszakot alkalmaztak.
Ennek során fegyvert tartottak az áldozatok fejéhez, vasrudakkal ütötték őket, valamint késeket, kalapácsokat és egyéb fegyvernek minősülő eszközöket is bevetettek – derül ki a Sky News beszámolójából.
Apránként sikerült a nyomukra bukkanni
A banda első tagját a Metropolitan Police Flying Squad nyomozta le néhány meglehetősen rossz minőségű felvétel alapján, miután beazonosították az egyik lopott kocsit, és az azt vezető rablót, s ennek köszönhetően a többieket is el tudták fogni.
Két elkövetőt akkor kerítettek kézre, amikor egy autós üldözés során egy busznak ütköztek, majd gyalogszerrel próbáltak ellógni a rendőrök elől, ám ezt nem sikerült véghez vinniük, másik kettőt pedig egy rajtaütés alatt, akik épp támadásra készültek Wimbledonban.

Bűnösnek vallotta magát Oroszország javára folytatott kémkedésben az Egyesült Királyság berlini nagykövetségének egyik volt biztonsági őre.
Az 58 éves David Smitht, aki nyolc évig dolgozott a diplomáciai képviseleten, tavaly augusztusban vette őrizetbe potsdami otthonában a német rendőrség, miután a vizsgálat szerint 2020 májusától több ízben államtitoknak minősített dokumentumokat adott át a berlini orosz nagykövetség katonai attaséjának.
A vád szerint a Smith által összegyűjtött és Oroszországnak kiadott információk a brit köztisztviselői kar egyes tagjainak személyes adatait – lakcímüket, telefonszámukat, tevékenységi területüket – tartalmazták.
Smith emellett a berlini brit nagykövetség működéséről is kiszolgáltatott adatokat az orosz katonai attasénak.
A BBC brit közszolgálati médiatársaság nemzetbiztonsági főszerkesztője, Gordon Corera az ügyet kommentálva pénteken kiemelte, hogy jóllehet Smith biztonsági őrként nem fért hozzá olyan dokumentumokhoz, amelyek a legszigorúbb titkosítási kategóriába tartoztak, az általa összegyűjtött és átadott anyagok azonban így is nagyon hasznosnak bizonyulhatnak Oroszország számára.
A szakértő szerint ugyanis e dokumentumok alapján potenciálisan azonosíthatóvá válhatnak a brit hírszerzés berlini emberei és azok az ügynökök, akikkel kapcsolatban állnak.
A londoni központi büntetőbíróság – utcája után közkeletű nevén az Old Bailey – bírói tanácsa előtt folyó perben az ügyészség nyolc vádpontot terjesztett elő David Smith ellen a brit államtitoktörvény alapján, és Smith mind a nyolc vádpontban beismerte bűnösségét.
Ez még november 4-én történt, de az ügyben hírzárlat volt érvényben, amelyet a bíróság pénteken oldott fel.
Az ügyészség szerint a vádlott „vehemensen gyűlölte hazáját”, különösen feldühítette például, amikor a brit nagykövetség az LMBTQ-közösség támogatásának szimbólumaként szivárványzászlót tűzött ki.
A vádhatóság részéről elhangzott az is, hogy Smith Oroszországba vagy Ukrajnába akart költözni.
A volt biztonsági őr ügyében később születik ítélet. A vonatkozó törvények alapján Smitht 14 évig terjedő szabadságvesztésre ítélhetik.

A Just Stop Oil (JSO) aktivistái tiltakozást szerveztek az M25-ös autópálya több szakaszára. Ez Anglia legforgalmasabb autópályája.
A tüntetéseket az éghajlatváltozás ellen küzdő aktivisták előre jelezték a londoni rendőrségnél és az Országos Autópálya Zrt.-nél, és arra kérték a szerveket, hogy rendeljenek el 30 mérföld per órás sebességkorlátozást az autópályán. A rendőrség fellépett a tüntetőkkel szemben, és közleményük szerint 35 embert letartóztattak – írta a BBC. A Just Stop Oil aktivistái annak ellenére folytatják az akciót, hogy a rendőrök egymás után veszik őrizetbe őket.
A tüntetést és demonstrációt az M25-ös autópályára a COP27 nemzetközi éghajlatváltozásról szóló egyiptomi tárgyalások idejére szervezték. A Metropolitan Police (Met Police – London és környéke területi rendőrsége) parancsnokának asszisztense, Matt Twist azt mondta: a JSO akciója nem tüntetés, hanem bűncselekmény, és ígéretet tett rá, hogy az érintetteket a lehető leggyorsabban bíróság elé állítják.
Ez egy jelentős és összehangolt akció volt, amely az M25-ös egészén nagy fennakadást okozott – mondta Twist. A demonstrációk az autópálya londoni, surrey-i és kenti csomópontjait érintették. Sok tüntető felmászott az autópálya fölött futó állványszerkezetekre, hogy molinókat és transzparenseket függesszen ki. A rendőrség szerint 14 embert kellett speciális csapatoknak eltávolítaniuk ezekről az állványokról.
Az egyik ilyen pontról egy Louise nevű tüntető osztott meg egy videót, amelyben arról beszélt, hogy miért vesz részt a demonstráción.

A Met Police közölte, hogy mindent megtesznek a klímaaktivisák azonosítására és letartóztatására. Vasárnap három személyt tartóztattak le, akiket a közrend megzavarásának tervezésével vádolnak.
Az akcióban részt vevők tevékenysége teljes mértékben kimeríti a tiltakozáshoz való jogot – mondta Twist.
A Surrey Police munkatársa, Graham Barnett szerint a békés tiltakozásokat támogatni kell, de a Just Stop Oil tevékenysége túlmutat ezen.
Bár a demonstrációk békések voltak, a hatásuk aránytalanul nagy volt a közösségre nézve – mondta Barnett.
A Just Stop Oil tájékoztatása szerint tevékenységük április elsejei kezdete óta már 2000 támogatójukat tartóztatták le, és öt tagjuk jelenleg is börtönben van.
A Just Stop Oil azt akarja, hogy a kormány adja fel több mint száz új olaj- és gázprojekt engedélyezésével kapcsolatos terveit 2025-ig, és tegyen többet a növekvő energiaszámlákkal küzdő emberek megsegítéséért. Nagy-Britanniában a Tan-y-Bwlch strandon műanyag flakonokhoz kötözött fóliába csavart csomagokat mosott a víz partra. A csomagokban több mint 42 millió font értékű drog volt – írja a BBC.
A walesi Aberystwyth melletti Tan-y-Bwlch strandon október 1-jén több fekete csomagot találtak. A rendőrök később máshol is találtak hasonló csomagokat, amiket műanyag flakonokhoz kötöztek.
A Dyfed-Powys-i rendőrség szerint a csomagokban kokain volt, a szállítmány mint egy 1200 kilogramm volt. A rendőrség figyelmeztette a lakosságot, ha további hasonló csomagot találnak, ne érjenek hozzá, azonnal értesítsék a hatóságokat.
A közleményük szerint a csomagok igazságügyi szakértői vizsgálata még folyamatban van, de úgy gondolják, hogy kokain van bennük. Az 1200 kilogramm drog kereskedelmi érték körülbelül kétmilliárd forintnak megfelelő összeg lehet.
Azt még nem tudják, hogy honnan moshatta a partra a víz a hatalmas mennyiségű drogot a víz, a nyomozás jelenleg még folyamatban van.

Az eddigi legnagyobb mértékű madárinfluenza-járvány következtében az EU és Nagy-Britannia területén közel 48millió szárnyast pusztítottak el.
A magas patogenitású madárinfluenzát (HPAI) Nagy-Britanniában 161 baromfinál és fogságban élő madárnál mutatták ki, a korábbi, 2020-2021-es rekord 26 volt. A veszély miatt 3,2 millió példányt kellett levágni, a hatóságok szerint ez a teljes hústermelést tekintve kis mennyiség – írja a BBCre hivatkozva a 24.hu.
Az Egyesült Királyág vadmadarai körében 1727 esetet regisztráltak, a betegség 406 helyszínen 59 fajt érintett. A járvány Észak-Európában a tengeri madarakat különösen veszélyezteti.
Dr. Christine Middlemiss, az Egyesült Királyság főállatorvosa szerint a vadon élő állatok magas fertőzöttségi szintje növeli a megbetegedések számát a gazdaságokban. Mivel a vándormadarak most térnek vissza az országba, arra számítanak, hogy a szám tovább nő az elkövetkező hónapokban.
„Sajnos arra számítunk, hogy a megbetegedések száma tovább fog növekedni az elkövetkező hónapokban, ahogy a vándormadarak visszatérnek Nagy-Britanniába, ami növeli a betegség fogságban tartott madarakra való átterjedésének kockázatát” – jelentette ki.
Az Európai Élelmiszerbiztonsági Hatóság (EFSA), az Európai Betegségmegelőzési és Járványvédelmi Központ (ECDC) és az Európai Madárinfluenza Referencialaboratórium hétfőn tette közzé az Európát és az Egyesült Királyságot érintő járvány legfrissebb adatait. A jelentésben a 2021 októbere és 2022. szeptember 9. közötti időszakot elemzik.
Az érintett periódusban 2600 alkalommal jelent meg a kórokozó baromfi és fogságban tartott madarak körében, emiatt 47,7 millió egyedet selejteztek.

A mentőket vasárnap hajnalban riasztották a város Easton negyedébe. A Wills Drive-i Twinnell House legfelső emeletén ütött ki a tűz.
Feltételezések szerint egy férfi azért halt szörnyet, mivel az ablakon keresztül próbált menekülni a tűz elől, ahonnan szerencsétlenül lezuhant.
A tűz során nyolc ember megsérült, akiket azonnal kórházba szállítottak. Egyikőjüket jeéenleg még kórházban ápolják, mivel súlyosabb égési sérüléseket szerzett – írja a Sky News.
Körülbelül 90 lakost evakuáltak a 17 emeletes épületből,valamint átmeneti pihenőközpontot állítottak fel egy templomban.
