Két héten belül ez volt a második amerikai megtorló csapás Szíriában. Lloyd Austin figyelmeztetett, hogy az Egyesült Államok „teljes mértékben készen áll arra, hogy más szükséges lépéseket tegyen” csapatai és létesítményei védelme érdekében.

18 halottja van eddig az amerikai Maine állambeli Lewistonban szerda este történt lövöldözésnek, amiben egy férfi egymás után két helyszínen is tüzet nyitott az emberekre – jelentette csütörtök délután tartott sajtótájékoztatóján Janet Mills kormányzó. Az áldozatok közül nyolcat azonosítottak, tíznél még folyik az eljárás.
A gyanúsított egy bowlingpályán és egy étteremben lőtt rá az emberekre, az előzetes vizsgálat szerint egy gépkarabélyt használt. A két helyszín pár perces autóútra, körülbelül négy mérföldre (6,5 km) van egymástól. A fegyveres a bowlingpályán hat férfit és egy nőt ölt meg, az étteremnél pedig hét férfit a létesítményben, egyet pedig előtte lőtt le.
15 sérültet szállítottak összesen a Central Maine Healthcare Centerbe, közülük hárman a kórházban belehaltak a lőtt sérülésekbe. Két sérültet az orvosok elláttak és hazaengedtek, kettőt pedig átszállítottak másik kórházakba. A nyolc jelenleg ott kezelt közül ötnek stabil, háromnak pedig kritikus az állapota – mondta a központ főorvosa.

A Kábítószer-ellenes Hivatal (DEA) egy bronxi pizzériában több mint 40 kilogramm kokaint talált.
A New York-i bűnüldöző hatóságok három személyt fogtak el, akiket azzal gyanúsítanak, hogy kapcsolatban álltak egy kábítószer-kereskedő szervezettel, amely egy bronxi pizzériában működött – írja az OCCRP.
Az akcióban különböző kábítószereket foglaltak le, amelyek becsült értéke mintegy 4 millió dollárra tehető.
A Kábítószer-ellenes Hivatal (DEA) a szövetségi, állami és helyi hatóságokkal együttműködve megfigyelést folytatott az őrizetbe vett személyek ellen, majd később öt kilogramm, feltehetően kokainnak minősülő anyagot találtak az egyiküknél.
Az étteremben 42 kilogramm feltételezett kokaint, egy kilogramm heroint és fentanilt, 1000 tasak feltételezett oxikodont, körülbelül 40 000 dollár készpénzt és 100 fiola feltételezett cracket találtak.
A jelentés szerint a fiolákat a pizzapult közelében tárolták, valószínűleg azért, hogy könnyen eladhatóak legyenek, vagy hogy mintát adjanak a vásárlóknak.

A CDC szerint ez az első alkalom, hogy a lőfegyverekkel elkövetett gyilkosságok országos aránya csökkent azóta, hogy 2019 és 2020 között meredeken emelkedett az ilyen jellegű támadások száma – írta a CNN.
2019 és 2020 között a lőfegyverrel elkövetett gyilkosságok általános aránya mintegy 35 százalékkal nőtt, a 2019-es országos 100 ezer emberre jutó 4,4 halálesetről 2020-ban 5,8-ra.
Ez az arány az előző 20 évhez viszonyítva a legmagasabb volt, de ismét növekedett 2021 óta 6,3 halálozás jut 100 ezer emberre számítva. Az idén eddig több mint 1300 gyermeket és tinédzsert öltek meg fegyverrel.
A CDC adatai szerint a faji egyenlőtlenségek a korábbi évekhez képest szinten maradnak minden faji és etnikai csoportban.

a spanyolajkúak körében 2022-ben az arány kiegyenlített volt, de magasabb maradt, mint 2019-ben.

Élve gyújtottak fel egy texasi nőt Austin külvárosában. A nyomozók öngyújtót és égésgyorsítót is találtak a helyszínen, ezért gyilkossági ügyben indítottak nyomozást. Letartóztatás még nem történt.
A rendőrség talált egy öngyújtót a test közelében, és erős égésgyorsító nyomait is felfedezték a helyszínen. Egy keresőkutya henteskést talált a közeli erdős területen, a nyomozók szerint a feltételezett elkövető a kést is felgyújtotta, hogy elfedje a nyomait.
