Egy dél-afrikai autópályán iskolabuszba rohant egy teherautó. A frontális ütközésben tizenkilenc gyerek és két felnőtt meghalt.
A teherautó sofőrje egy másik teherautót próbált szabálytalanul megelőzni Pongola külterületén, mielőtt belerohant a buszba – írta a New York Post a News 24 helyi csatornára hivatkozva.
A sofőr ellen emberölés és gondatlan járművezetés miatt emeltek vádat. A csatorna szerint a férfi elmenekült a helyszínről, később azonban feladta magát a rendőrségen.
A meghalt gyerekek mindegyike 5 és 12 év közötti volt – közölték. Mellettük a buszvezető és egy felnőtt utas vesztette életét a balesetben. Az incidens helyi idő szerint péntek délután történt, a buszon 12 évnél fiatalabb gyerekek utaztak, akik éppen hazafelé tartottak az iskolából.
Augusztus elején Horvátországban történt egy komoly buszbaleset: tizenkét ember meghalt, és 31 megsérült, amikor az északnyugat-horvátországi Varaždin közelében egy vallási zarándokokkal teli lengyel autóbusz lecsúszott az útról, és balesetet szenvedett.

Legalább húsz embert gyilkoltak meg ismeretlen támadók egy Burkina Fasó-i jószágvásáron pénteken – közölte a nyugat-afrikai állam kormánya.
Egyelőre egy szélsőséges csoport sem jelentkezett az ország keleti felében található Fada N’Gourma településen végrehajtott vérengzés elkövetőjeként.
A hadsereg jelenleg kereső műveletet hajt végre a térségben. Májusban 25-en haltak meg egy hasonló támadásban a keleti Kompienga településen rendezett jószágvásáron.
Burkina Fasóban több mint félmillióan voltak kénytelenek elmenekülni a folytonos támadások elől otthonaikból.A kormány hatalma a fővároson kívüli területeken meggyengült. Mali, Burkina Faso és Niger hármashatárának térségében iszlamista szélsőségesek vetették meg a lábukat, és rendszeresen indítanak portyákat a polgári lakosság ellen. Egyes frakciók az al-Kaida nemzetközi terrorhálózathoz, mások az Iszlám Államhoz tartoznak.
Az ENSZ adatai szerint a dzsihadisták támadásaiban Maliban, Nigerben és Burkina Fasóban tavaly négyezren haltak meg.

Заявник повідомив, що у будинку на момент злочину перебувала його 18-річна донька. Оперативно прибувши за викликом, поліцейські встановили, що близько 9:00 ранку, до приватного будинку у селі Циганівці проник невідомий. Озброєний пістолетом чоловік, погрожуючи зброєю, незаконно заволодів наявною в будинку готівкою у сумі близько 50 тисяч гривень та втік з місця злочину. За описом дівчини, зловмисник був у темному спортивному костюмі, масці та рукавичках. Також, з її слів, у нього був спільник, який привіз нападника.Працівники кримінальної поліції Ужгородщини одразу ж склали орієнтування та розпочали пошуки зловмисників. Невдовзі у мікрорайоні Горяни поліцейські помітили чоловіка схожого за описом на нападника. Побачивши правоохоронців, останній почав утікати через поле. Двоє поліцейських переслідували його півтора кілометри та у підсумку затримали. У цей час оперативники Головного управління поліції Закарпаття спільно з колегами з району, встановили місце перебування спільника, який дочікував свого товариша в машині у попередньо визначеному місці.Особи фігурантів встановлено. Йдеться про 29-річного жителя села Розівка Ужгородського району та 40-річного мешканця обласного центру Закарпаття. Обидва неодноразово судимі за вчинення майнових злочинів. Наразі поліцейські затримали чоловіків у порядку статті 208 КПК України та помістили до ізолятора тимчасового тримання.За фактом злочину слідчі відкрили кримінальне провадження за ч. 3 ст. 187 Кримінального кодексу України, тобто розбій, вчинений групою осіб, із погрозою застосування насильства та поєднаний з проникненням у житло. Під час огляду у фігурантів виявлено та вилучено зброю, гроші та залізний ломик.За скоєне затриманим загрожує до 12 років позбавлення волі з конфіскацією майна.

„Hajnali négy óra volt, és nem tudhattuk pontosan, hogy kivel állunk szemben. Megpróbáltak elmenekülni, ezért azt hittük, hogy dzsihadistákról van szó, akiket bekerítettünk, hogy semlegesítsük őket” – mondta egy neve elhallgatását kérő katonai vezető az EFE spanyol hírügynökségnek.
„Az utólagos ellenőrzést követően jöttünk rá, hogy aranybányászok voltak” – tette hozzá.
Az incidens az aranyban gazdag Tibesti tartományban történt. Az illegális bányászok közül tizenegyen líbiaiak, tízen csádiak, hatan szudániak voltak. A térség nagy aranykészletei vonzzák a különböző milíciákat és csempészeket, rendszeresek az összecsapások az illegális aranybányászok és a biztonsági erők között.
Azem Bermandoa, a hadsereg szóvivője arról számolt be, hogy több mint egy éve katonák járőröznek a térségben, és nem az illegális bányászat miatt, hanem, hogy megelőzzék a dzsihadisták beszivárgását.
„Olyan területről van szó, ahová tilos a belépés, ezért azokat, akik az aranybányászat miatt bemerészkednek, (dzsihadistaként) fogják kezelni” – jelentette ki.

Tovább súlyosbíthatja az élelmiszerhiánnyal küzdő afrikai országok helyzetét a koronavírus-járvány, a Száhel-övezetben akár 2,1 millió ember maradhat élelem nélkül, ha a határok lezárása következtében nem jutnak humanitárius segítséghez – figyelmeztetett az az ENSZ Világélelmezési Programja (WFP).
Eric Branckaert, a szervezet régiós központjának a munkatársa
azt mondta, hogy míg 2019-ben 680 000 rászoruló volt a
Száhel-övezetben, ez a szám 2020-ra 77 százalékkal nőtt.
A példátlan növekedés okai elsősorban a helyi konfliktusok,
különösen Burkina Fasóban, Kamerunban, Csádban, és Maliban,
valamint Sierra Leonében és Libériában, ám a koronavírus-járvány
és a sáskajárás szintén nehezíti az ott élők helyzetét.
Branckaert hozzátette: a 2,1 milliós adatba még nem számították
bele a koronavírus-járvány lehetséges következményeit,
elsősorban azt, hogy a határok lezárása miatt a
segélyszállítmányok is elakadhatnak.
Lola Castro, a WFP helyi irodájának a vezetője bejelentette:
Afrika déli részén humanitárius folyosó kialakításáról
tárgyalnak, mert a kontinens ezen a részén körülbelül 45 millió
embert fenyeget éhínség.
„Jelenleg az élelmiszerosztás normális mederben folyik, ám
elképzelhető, hogy a jövőben, a vírusnak különösen a kisebb
gazdaságokra gyakorolt hatásától függően, emelkednek az
élelmiszerárak, nő a segélyekre szorulók száma” – tette
hozzá.
Matshidiso Moeti, az Egészségügyi Világszervezet (WHO)
Afrikáért felelős irodájának a vezetője azt mondta, a kontinens
kormányainak nem csupán a társadalmi távolságtartás fokozataira
kell ügyelniük, hanem biztosítaniuk kell állampolgáraik
élelmezését is. Moeti kiemelte: a járvány gazdasági
következményei tragikusak lehetnek az országok alacsonyabb
társadalmi-gazdasági rétegei számára.
Afrikában több mint 6400 regisztrált fertőzöttről tudnak, és
a vírus okozta betegségbe 241-en haltak bele. Elemzők
figyelmeztetnek arra, hogy a fertőzöttek pontos számát
képtelenség lenne megadni, mert még a kontinens legfejlettebb
országa, Dél-Afrika is el van maradva a tesztelésekkel.
A WHO adatai szerint február elején csupán két afrikai
országnak voltak tesztkészletei, ez a szám ma már 43 a kontinens
szubszaharai régiójában.
Egészségügyi tisztségviselők elképzelhetőnek tartják azt
is, hogy néhány afrikai országban április végére több mint 10
ezerre nő a fertőzöttek száma, és rámutattak arra, hogy
nincsenek pontos adatok a lélegeztetőgépek, tesztek és egyéb
orvosi eszközök számáról.
John Nkengasong, az afrikai járványügyi és betegségmegelőzési
központ (ACDC) vezetője újságíróknak a kontinensre leselkedő
„egzisztenciális fenyegetésnek” nevezte a vírust, hozzátéve:
Afrika-szerte nő a helyi fertőzések száma. Egészségügyi
szakértők egyelőre találgatnak a vírus afrikai kimenetelét
illetően.
Míg az optimista jóslatok hangsúlyozzák, hogy a kontinens
nagyobbik része fiatal, akiket kevésbé sújt a kór, mások
kiemelik, hogy Afrikában így is több súlyos betegség pusztít,
egyebek közt a malária, a tuberkulózis és az AIDS, valamint
rengetegen alultápláltak. Nkengasong újságíróknak leszögezte:
a járvány idején kiemelten fontos e betegségek kezelése is.
Meredith McMorrow, az amerikai járványügyi és betegségmegelőzési központ (CDC) munkatársa újságíróknak elismerte, hogy a koronavírus terjedése az Egyesült Államokban leszűkíti az ország lehetőségeit az azonnali segítségnyújtásra, ám hozzátette: Washington „amint lehet”, segít az afrikai országoknak a szükséges felszerelés beszerzésében.
