Több tucat embert evakuáltak otthonából Argentína központi Cordoba tartományában kedden, mivel az intenzív hőhullám közepette egyre nagyobb erdőtüzek tombolnak.
A helyi kormány kedd esti közlése szerint összesen 960 tűzoltó dolgozott az erdőtüzek leküzdésén nyolc tűzoltó repülőgéppel és két helikopterrel. A helyi média arról számolt be, hogy több tucat embert evakuáltak.
Az argentin nemzeti tűzvédelmi szolgálat szerint kedden öt aktív erdőtűz volt a régióban.
A tartományi kormány közölte, hogy ivóvizet, élelmiszert, matracokat és takarókat küldött az érintett területekre – számolt be az Origo az AP News-ra hivatkozva.

Két tucat, feltehetően madárinfluenza miatt elpusztult dél-amerikai oroszlánfókát találtak Argentína atlanti-óceáni partjainál, Punta Bermeja közelében – közölte hétfőn a helyi környezetvédelmi tárca.
A közlemény szerint további 53 fókánál azonosították a madárinfluenza tüneteit.A madárinfluenzát okozó H5N1-vírust már korábban kimutatták a térségben talált elpusztult fókákban.
A madárinfluenzás esetek regisztrálása ótaaz eddigi legnagyobb járvány terjed több kontinensen.A vírust már emlősökben, köztük mosómedvékben, rókákban és nyestekben is kimutatták, és a tudósok szerint nem zárható ki, hogy már emlősök között is közvetlen átvitellel terjedhet a betegség. Ez pedig arra utal, hogy a H5N1-vírus alkalmazkodik az emlősökhöz, tehátakár az emberre is nagyobb kockázatot jelenthet- közölték.
A Pánamerikai Egészségügyi Szervezet (PAHO) augusztus elején közzétett jelentése szerint Dél-Amerikában és a Karib-tenger térségében 15 országban észlelték a madárinfluenza megjelenését. Mint írták: a járványok főként a madarak csendes-óceáni vonulási útvonalán törtek ki.

Argentínában már több mint 60 ezer embernél mutatták ki a Dengue-láz fertőzés jeleit, ami rekord magas szám, mivel jóval meghaladja a 2020-as járványos évben mért számokat – számolt be az Origo.
A fertőzést az Aedes aegypti szúnyogok terjesztik. A védekezés érdekében a biológusok 2016 óta kísérleteznek a szúnyogok sterilizálásával. Abban reménykednek, hogy utódaik életképtelenek lesznek a DNS-károsodás miatt.
A szúnyogok rohamos szaporodása a globális felmelegedéssel hozható összefüggésbe – írja a BBC.
Populációjuk egyre délebbre vándorol. Már 40 ember halt bele a fertőzésbe, a legtöbb halálos esetet Argentína Chilével és Bolíviával határos részein regisztrálták. A Dengue-láz az egyik legelterjedtebb trópusi betegség. Tünetei a magas láz, fejfájás, émelygés, erőteljes izom- és ízületi fájdalmak.
A fertőzés súlyos vérzéses formában is felléphet, ami halálos kimenetelű. Az egészségügyi minisztérium felszólította az embereket, hogy fokozottan védekezzenek a szúnyogok ellen, használjanak szúnyoghálót, rovarriasztó szereket és kerüljék a víztartályok kihelyezését. Mivel a szúnyogok főként a házkörüli kisebb vizekben, esővizes pocsolyában szaporodnak és szívesen pihennek a hűvös lakásban.

Ismeretlen tolvajok mintegy 1 millió dollár értékű aranyat loptak el egy bányászati projekt területéről Argentína déli térségében.
A tolvajok a kanadai Vancouver városában bejegyzett Patagonia Gold nevű vállalathoz törtek be, a cég Cap-Oeste nevű kitermelési helyszínén, Santa Cruz tartományban, Argentínában. Az incidens április 17-én történt, helyi idő szerint a kora reggeli órákban.
A vállalat által kiadott közleményben az áll, hogy a rablók 500 unciányi arannyal távoztak a helyszínről. Ez a mennyiség a cég összesen egyhavi termelésének felel meg a Lomada és a Cap-Oeste kitermelési területeken.
A zsákmány körülbelül 1 millió dollárt ér. Az aranyat ezen a napon unciánként 1995 dollárért kereskedték.
A vállalat az eset kivizsgálásának idejére felfüggesztette a kitermelést, és új, szigorúbb biztonsági intézkedések bevezetését helyezte kilátásba – számol be róla a Mining.com.

Merényletet kíséreltek meg helyi idő szerint csütörtök este az argentin alelnök ellen, a politikus sértetlen maradt, a támadót a rendőrség elfogta.
A merényletkísérlet Cristina Fernández de Kirchner otthona előtt történt, ahol az alelnök éppen híveit fogadta, akik azért gyűltek össze, hogy támogatásukat fejezzék ki a korrupcióval gyanúsított politikus felé.
Sajtóértesülések szerint a támadó egyenesen Kirchnerre szegezte a fegyvert. Az ügyben megszólaló Alberto Fernández elnök azt mondta, a fegyver meg volt töltve, és a gyanúsított meg is próbálta elsütni, viszont egyelőre tisztázatlan okok miatt nem sült el, s az alelnök „csupán ennek köszönheti életét”.
„A támadást a lehető leghatározottabban el kell ítélnie egész Argentínának, beleértve az összes politikai erőt, mert a demokráciánkat érinti” – fogalmazott televíziós beszédében az elnök, aki egyébként péntekre munkaszüneti napot hirdetett a merényletkísérlet miatt.
„Vitatkozhatunk, lehetnek súlyos nézetkülönbségeink, de a gyűlöletbeszédnek nincs helye, mert erőszakot szül, amelynek nincs helye a demokráciákban” – szögezte le.
Sergio Massa gazdasági miniszter gyilkossági kísérletnek nevezte az esetet Twitteren, és szintén óva intett attól, hogy „a gyűlölet és az erőszak elharapózzon a vitás ügyekben”.
A rendőrség azt közölte, hogy a merényletkísérlet gyanújában őrizetbe vett férfi brazil származású.
Az ügy miatt megdöbbenését fejezte ki több ellenzéki politikus is, több latin-amerikai ország pedig szolidaritásáról biztosította az alelnököt, aki 2007 és 2015 között az ország elnöke volt.
Cristina Fernández de Kirchnerre az előző héten 12 év börtön és közhivataltól eltiltás kiszabását kezdeményezte az ügyészség, mert a vád szerint 1 milliárd dollárnak megfelelő összeggel károsította meg az országot bűnszervezet irányításával, melyen keresztül jogellenesen egyik barátjának és szövetségesének ítéltek oda 51 útépítési közbeszerzést.
