В Оманській затоці ВМС США перехопили рибальське судно, яке перевозило понад 2000 автоматів АК-47 з Ірану до Ємену.
Корабель був арештований ВМС США 6 січня, на борту на момент спецоперації перебувало шість громадян Ємену. Зброю знайшли моряки з прибережного патрульного корабля USS Chinook і захопили за допомогою есмінців USS Monsoon та USS The Sullivans, – повідомляє Reuters.
Вилучення зброї також підтвердило центральне командування ВМС на своєму вебсайті, загалом на рибальському човні було виявлено 2116 автоматів АК-47.
Корабель, перехоплений військово-морськими силами, прямував маршрутом, яким місцеві контрабандисти довгий час доставляли різні нелегальні вантажі керівництву єменських хуситів. Ця діяльність не тільки незаконна, а й порушує міжнародне право.
Цей вантаж є частиною поточної дестабілізуючої діяльності з Ірану. Ці загрози привернули нашу увагу. Ми продовжуємо відстежувати будь-яку морську діяльність, яка перешкоджає свободі судноплавства або загрожує безпеці регіону, – заявив віцеадмірал Бред Купер, командувач 5-го флоту ВМС США та Об’єднаних морських сил в Оманській затоці.
За останні два місяці флот списав з експлуатації два додаткові рибальські судна, які також перевозили зброю з Ірану до Ємену.

У Новій Зеландії човен зіткнувся з китом, в результаті п’ятеро людей загинуло, шістьох людей вдалося врятувати.

“У Новій Зеландії п’ятеро людей загинули в результаті ймовірного зіткнення з китом, коли їхній човен перекинувся. Ще шістьох людей на борту вдалося врятувати”, – йдеться у повідомленні.
Зазначається, що під час аварії на борту човна перебували 11 людей, і шістьох з них вдалося благополучно повернути на берег.
Аварія сталася сьогодні вранці біля Південного Острову Нової Зеландії Кайкура.
За попередньою інформацією, це начебто був рибальський човен, і його пасажири, ймовірно, ловили рибу. Але, за даними ЗМІ, це була група спостерігачів за птахами.
Варто зазначити, що Кайкура є також популярним місцем для спостереження за китами.
Різні компанії пропонують прогулянки на човні та гелікоптерні тури, щоб туристи могли наблизитися до китів, дельфінів та інших морських мешканців.

Щонайменше одинадцять людей загинуло внаслідок аварії на неліцензійному пасажирському судні на півночі Бразилії, ще восьмеро осіб вважаються зниклими безвісти, – повідомив у четвер бразильський інформаційний портал G1 із посиланням на уряд федерального штату Пара.
Серед загиблих дев’ять жінок і дитина, – повідомили ВМС Бразилії та Секретаріат громадської безпеки штату Пара. Повідомляється, що на борту було вісімдесят осіб, шістдесят двоє з яких були врятовані або дісталися берега власними силами, коли корабель затонув біля острова Котіжуба.
У своєму першому повідомленні уряд оголосив про чотирнадцять загиблих. Відповідно до цього повідомлення, судно, яке курсувало між островом Маражо в гирлі Амазонки та містом Белен, не мало ліцензії на перевезення пасажирів і вирушило з Камари із також неліцензійного порту. Там додали, що рятувальному судну одразу після цього довелося прийняти ще один сигнал лиха.
Більшість врятованих є вихідцями з Північної та Центральної Африки, найближча точка яких знаходиться лише за 100 кілометрів на схід від іспанських островів.

Міністр соціальних питань Конго Стів Мбікаї заявив, що транспортний засіб був перевантажений і перевозив пасажирів вночі, що незаконно.
«Місцеві жителі повідомили, що бачили кілька трупів, які пливли по воді», – поінформував представник місцевої влади.
Смертельні корабельні аварії поширені в Конго. Це пояснюється тим, що на кораблях регулярно подорожує більше людей, ніж дозволено, до того ж, вони нечасто вдягають рятувальні жилети і зазвичай не вміють плавати.

Двоє людей загинули (їхні тіла витягли з води близько 13-ї години), ще десять зникли внаслідок нещасного випадку на човні, який перекинувся за 26 км від південно-східного узбережжя Флориди, поінформувала берегова охорона США.
Вісім інших пасажирів урятували працівники берегової охорони, котрі помітили у воді кількох людей під час звичного патрулювання, ідеться в повідомленні.
«Наші співробітники зосереджені на виявленні тих, хто вижив, – зазначив Сет Хейнс, керівник командного центру берегової охорони о. Кі-Вест. – Пошуки зниклих триватимуть усю ніч. Якщо хтось на морі щось побачить або почує, надайте допомогу і зв’яжіться з береговою охороною».
Пасажири розповіли, що вони вирушили з Пуерто-де-Марієль, Куба, у неділю, а в середу ввечері човен перекинувся.
Урятовані вже в безпеці, вони отримують їжу, воду та медичну допомогу, ідеться в заяві берегової охорони. Пошуки зниклих пасажирів тривають, до робіт було долучено кілька кораблів і вертольотів, повідомляє New York Post.
