„Nyilvános bujaságért” akár hat hónap börtön- és pénzbüntetés is jár Dubajban. Ezt kockáztatták azok a nők, akik meztelen fotózáson vettek részt egy erkélyen a dubaji kikötőben.
A BBC információi szerint 11 ukrán nőt letartóztattak, az orosz sajtó egy orosz letartóztatottról is tud – állítólag ő szervezte a fotózást, és ezért 18 hónap börtönbüntetés várhat rá.
A dubaji rendőrség figyelmeztett, hogy börtön és pénzbüntetés fenyeget bárkit, aki pornográf vagy erköcsöket veszélyeztető anyagot tesz közzé – ez nemcsak az Egyesült Arab Emirátus polgáraira, hanem a turistákra is vonatkozik.
Nem ez az első alkalom, hogy „erkölcsi okok” miatt kerülnek bajba turisták Dubajban. 2017-ben egy brit nőt ítéltek egy év börtönre, mert olyan férfival feküdt le, aki nem a férje volt. A kapcsolatra az után derült fény, hogy a nő feljelentette a férfit, mert fenyegető üzeneteket küldött neki.

Az ENSZ közölte, hogy Latifa hercegnőt, Dubaj emírjének a lányát fogva tartják az Egyesült Arab Emírségekben – számolt be a BBC.
Latifa hercegnő egy videót juttatott el a BBC-hez, amiben azt mondta, hogy egy börtönné átalakított villában él.

Dominic Raab brit külügyminiszter aggodalmát fejezte ki, az ENSZ emberi jogi főbiztosának hivatala pedig közölte, hogy a felvételeket elemzik, és lépéseket fognak tenni az ügyben.
Latifa hercegnő három éve próbált megszökni az apjától. Akkor egy korábbi sikertelen szökési kísérlet tanulságait levonva hét éven át tervezgette az újabb menekülését. Titokban felvette a kapcsolatot Hervé Jaubert francia üzletemberrel, volt haditengerészeti tiszttel. Róla azt olvasta ugyanis, hogy évekkel korábban a dubaji hatóságok elől búvárkodva lógott meg a tengeren, ahol egy csónakkal Indiába szökött.
Másik segítőtársa a finn Tiina Jauhiainen volt, aki a palotában capoeira brazil harcművészetből adott leckéket. Barátokká váltak, és gyakran mutatkoztak együtt, hogy elaltassák a királyi testőrök éberségét. Végül elszánták magukat a szökésre, és sikerült átautózniuk Ománba, majd tengerre szálltak egy felfújható csónakkal és jetskivel. A viharos tengeren 13 kilométer után elérték a nemzetközi vizeket, ahol Jaubert várt rájuk egy jachttal. Azt tervezték, hogy az amerikai zászló alatt hajózva az indiai Goáig mennek.
De 15 kilométerre az indiai partoktól egy – feltételezhetően az udvar által felbérelt – fegyveres kommandó elfogta Latifát, aki valószínűleg azóta a villában raboskodik.

Lezuhant és meghalt Dubajban Vincent Reffet a hátára erősített rakétahajtóművel röpködő francia denevérember. Halálának körülményeit még vizsgálják.
A hátára erősített, leginkább egy rakétahajtóműves hátizsák és egy denevérszárnyra hasonlító szerkezet segítségével állított be rekordokat a Jetman Dubai pilótája, Vincent Reffet.
