Eredménytelenül zárult az amerikai titkosszolgálat nyomozása a Fehér Házban július elején talált kokain ügyében – közölte az elnöki hivatal őrizetét ellátó hatóság csütörtökön.
A titkosszolgálat (Secret Service) közleményt adott ki, miszerint lezárult a nyomozást, amely a fizikai bizonyíték hiányában nem tudta megállapítani, hogy kitől származott a kábítószer. Az egygrammnyi kokaint tartalmazó tasakot július 2-án találták a Fehér Ház nyugati szárnyának bejárata közelében, egy tárolóban, amely személyes elektronikai eszközök átmeneti megőrzésére szolgál.
A közlemény szerint a Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda (FBI) laboratóriuma szerdán juttatta el a titkosszolgálathoz a tasakról vett minták vizsgálati eredményét, de sem használható ujjlenyomatot, sem személyazonosság megállapításához elegendő DNS-mintát nem találtak.
A hatóság egy több száz nevet tartalmazó listát állított össze azokról, akiknek hozzáférése volt a területhez, ahol a kábítószert megtalálták, és „módszeresen áttekintette a biztonsági rendszereket és minden jegyzőkönyvet” több napra visszamenőleg.
A titkosszolgálat azt is közölte, hogy csütörtökön a Kongresszus képviselőit is tájékoztatták az nyomozás eredménytelen lezárásáról.
A Fehér Házban talált kokain esete komoly politikai vitát váltott ki az amerikai politikában. Az elnöki hivatal azt hangsúlyozta, hogy az incidens idején Joe Biden és családja nem tartózkodott az épületben, miközben a republikánusok egy része arról a meggyőződéséről beszélt, hogy az adminisztrációnak nem érdeke, hogy megtalálja a személyt, aki a kábítószert bevitte a Fehér Házba.

Azt nem közölték pontosan, hogy a kábítószergyanús anyagot a nyugati szárnyban pontosan hol találták meg, de a helyszínen elvégzett gyorsteszt segítségével megerősítették a feltételezést, hogy a talált fehér por valójában kokain volt.
„A talált kábítószert további laboratóriumi elemzésre küldtük, arra vonatkozóan, hogy a kábítószer hogyan került a Fehér házba, zajlik a nyomozás” – közölte a Titkos Szolgálat.

Hétfő este egy teherautó nekiütközött a Fehér Ház kordonjának a Lafayette téren. A sofőrt őrizetbe vették – ezt közölte a Reuters szerint Anthony Guglielmi, az amerikai titkosszolgálat kommunikációs vezetője.
Azt is hozzátette, hogy sem a Fehér Házat védő szolgálat tagjai, sem civilek nem sérültek meg.
A Reuters által idézett beszámolók azonban arra utalnak, hogy nem baleset történhetett. A bérelhető költöztetős teherautót vezető férfi ugyanis az első ütközés után másodszor is nekihajtott a kordonnak, amit akkor sem tudott áttörni.
A baleset után a titkosszolgálat emberei távirányítású bombakereső robot segítségével vizsgálták át a teherautót, de nem találtak semmi gyanúsat a raktérben.

Az amerikai hatóságok „eddig nem láttak semmi olyan jelet, ami kifejezetten arra utalna, hogy ez a három objektum a Kínai Népköztársaság kémléggömbprogramjának része lett volna, vagy hogy határozottan részt vettek volna külső hírszerzési erőfeszítésekben” − mondta újságíróknak John Kirby, a Nemzetbiztonsági Tanács szóvivője.
Kirby szerint a három objektum − kettőt az Egyesült Államok felett, egyet pedig Kanada felett lőttek le − „lehet, hogy egyszerűen kereskedelmi vagy kutatási egységekhez kötődő, tehát nem rosszindulatú léggömbök voltak” − közölte az AFP hírügynökség.
John Kirby azonban hangsúlyozta, hogy Kína egy „jól finanszírozott, konkrét programot” folytat, amelynek célja, hogy nagy magasságú, nehezen észlelhető léggömböket használjon az Egyesült Államok és más országok elleni kémkedésre.
Amerikai tisztviselők szerint egy ilyen léggömböt február 4-én lőttek le az Egyesült Államok keleti partjai felett − ez az incidens fokozott riasztást váltott ki, ezért lőttek le később elővigyázatosságból három azonosítatlan objektumot.
Peking tagadja, hogy kémballonokat használna, és azt állítja, hogy a partoknál lelőtt hatalmas tárgy meteorológiai célokat szolgált.
A Pentagon és a Fehér Ház szerint a három rejtélyes objektum felderítését megnehezíti, hogy a roncsok felkutatására kiküldött csapatok nehéz körülményekkel szembesülnek. A „meglehetősen nehéz” időjárási és földrajzi körülményekre hivatkozva Kirby azt mondta, hogy „eltarthat egy ideig, amíg megtaláljuk a roncsokat”.
A japán védelmi minisztérium kedden közölte: „erős a gyanúja”, hogy 2019 óta a japán légtérbe behatoló azonosítatlan repülő tárgyak kínai hírszerző léggömbök voltak.
A tárca közleménye szerint a léggömböket 2019-ben, 2020-ban és 2021-ben észlelték. Japán felszólította a kínai kormányt, hogy erősítse meg a tényeket, és garantálja, hogy ilyen a jövőben nem fordul elő. A kormány azt is közölte Pekinggel, hogy Japán sosem fogja eltűrni légterének megsértését.

Lloyd Austin védelmi miniszter Brüsszelbe érkezése után a repülőtéren újságírók előtt arról beszélt, hogy a szóban forgó tárgyak nem jelentenek katonai fenyegetést, illetve veszélyt a földön tartózkodók számára, ugyanakkor kockázatot testesítenek meg a polgári repülés és információbiztonság szempontjából.
Lloyd Austin az eszközök megsemmisítését azzal indokolta, hogy miután nem tudták pontosan meghatározni, miről van szó, elővigyázatosságból cselekedtek az ország biztonsága és érdekének védelmében. Megjegyezte: tisztában vannak azzal, hogy országok, vállalatok, tudományos szervezetek tevékenykednek a szóban forgó légtér-magasságokban, akár legitim kutatási célokból.
Jelenleg a lelőtt tárgyak maradványait próbálják megtalálni, hogy teljesebb képet kaphassanak arról, milyen eszközökről van szó, de a körülmények nehezítik a keresést – mondta el a Pentagon vezetője. Kifejtette, hogy Alaszka közelében a tengeri jégen kell dolgozni, míg Kanadában az ottani hatóságokkal együttműködve a lakott területtől távol eső térségeket kell átfésülni, míg a Huron-tó térségében az amerikai parti őrség, a hadsereg északi parancsnoksága, a Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda (FBI) és a kanadai hatóságok közösen kezdték meg a munkát. Hozzátette, hogy az esetek különleges jellege miatt a vizsgálat is hosszabb időt vehet igénybe.
Ahogy elmondta, a védelmi tárca a vizsgálat során együttműködik a szövetségi légiirányítással, az FBI-jal, valamint a szövetségi űrkutatási hivatallal (NASA).
Lloyd Austin külön felhívta a figyelmet arra, hogy a hétvégén megsemmisített eszközök eltérnek a Dél-Karolina közelében február 4-én lelőtt eszköztől, amelyről a miniszter azt mondta, tudják, mi volt, „a Kínai Népköztársaság megfigyelő léggömbje”.
Hétfőn a Fehér Ház sajtótájékoztatóján a nemzetbiztonsági tanács kommunikációs koordinátora igyekezett eloszlatni azokat a híreszteléseket, miszerint földönkívüli légi eszközökről van szó. John Kirby úgy fogalmazott, „az amerikaiaknak nincs okuk aggódni amiatt, hogy földönkívüliekről van szó”.
A feltételezések annak nyomán kezdtek el terjedni, hogy az Észak-amerikai Légtérvédelmi Parancsnokság (NORAD) parancsnoka vasárnap úgy fogalmazott, semmilyen lehetőséget nem zárna ki az azonosítatlan légi tárgyak származásával kapcsolatban.
Glen VanHerck tábornok ugyanakkor arról is beszélt, hogy a megszaporodott észlelések azzal is összefüggésben lehetnek, hogy a kínai eszköz körüli incidens nyomán a légtérvédelem növelte a radarok teljesítményét, azok érzékenységét.
Az elmúlt hét végén az amerikai légierő három ismeretlen eredetű légi eszközt semmisített meg: pénteken Alaszka északi partjai közelében, szombaton Kanada kérésére és együttműködve a szomszédos országgal Yukon tartomány fölött, majd vasárnap az Egyesült Államok Michigan állama közelében, a Huron-tó térségében.

Mintegy ezer ember gyűlt össze szombaton a washingtoni Fehér Ház előtt, hogy követelje Joe Biden amerikai elnöktől, álljon ki határozottabban az abortuszjogok mellett.
A főváros utcáin haladó menet az ikonikus oszlopos épület előtt ért véget. Joe Biden a hétvégét nem töltötte a Fehér Házban, hanem attól több száz kilométerre, a Delaware államban lévő tengerparti házában tartózkodott.
A tüntetés résztvevői zöld sálakat tettek ki a Fehér Ház kerítésére, emlékeztetve az argentin nők abortuszhoz való jogért folytatott küzdelemre.
Amióta a konzervatív beállítottságú amerikai legfelsőbb bíróság június 24-én az egész Egyesült Államokban megsemmisítette az abortuszhoz való jogot, a demokrata elnököt azzal vádolják, hogy nem reagált elég határozottan a döntésre.
Joe Biden azzal érvel, végrehajtó hatalma korlátozott, és hogy a terhességmegszakításhoz való jog visszaállításának legjobb módja – többek között azokban a konzervatív államokban, amelyek már eltörölték azt – egy szövetségi törvény elfogadása.
Ehhez szerinte a választóknak a novemberi általános választásokon szilárd többséget kell biztosítaniuk a demokratáknak.
Joe Biden pénteken rendeletet adott ki az abortuszt végeztetni akaró nőknek nyújtandó szövetségi segítségről, miután az amerikai legfelsőbb bíróság két héttel ezelőtt érvénytelenítette a Roe kontra Wade döntést, vagyis a bíróság szövetségi szinten hatályon kívül helyezte az abortuszjogot, lehetővé tette a tagállamok számára, hogy maguk döntsenek arról, betiltják-e az abortuszt.
A rendeletben az elnök utasította az egészségügyi minisztériumot, hogy tegye szélesebb körben elérhetővé azokat az abortusztablettákat, amelyeket jóváhagyott a szövetségi élelmiszer- és gyógyszerfelügyeleti hatóság (FDA).
Szakértők szerint azonban a tabletták még évekig csak vényre lesznek kaphatók. Azokban az államokban, amelyekben már korlátozták a hozzáférést ezekhez, az elnöki rendelet hatástalan lesz.
Biden ezenkívül arra utasította az igazságügyi minisztert és fehér házi tanácsadóit, hogy toborozzanak olyan ügyvédi csapatot, amely ingyen ad tanácsot abortuszt végeztetni akaró nőknek és az abortuszt végző orvosoknak.

Ricint tartalmazott egy levél, amelyet a washingtoni Fehér Házba küldtek Kanadából, szövetségi tisztségviselőknek sikerült ártalmatlanítaniuk, mielőtt bárkit megmérgezett volna – közölték meg nem nevezett tisztségviselők hírügynökségekkel és más médiumokkal.
A kanadai rendőrség, amely az ügyben együttműködött az amerikai Szövetségi Nyomozó Irodával (FBI), megerősítette, hogy a levelet az országban adták fel, de egyelőre nem tudják, azon belül hol és ki. Az FBI annyit közölt, hogy elfogtak egy gyanús levelet, de senkit nem veszélyeztet.
A ricin fehérje, amely természetes módon megtalálható a ricinus gyógy- és dísznövény magjában, és belőle már egy gombostűfej nagyságú mennyiség is halált okozhat. Ellenmérge nem ismert.
Már több hasonló merényletkísérlet történt az Egyesült Államokban.
