Tolvajok törtek be egy Los Angeles-i raktárba, és 30 millió dollárt vittek el a város történetének egyik legnagyobb készpénzrablásában.
A több mint 10 milliárd forintnak megfelelő összeget még húsvét vasárnap az éjjeli órákban tulajdonították el, azonban az amerikai hatóságok csak most számoltak be az incidensről. A lopás egy kanadai székhelyű globális készpénzkezelő raktárában történt.
A rablók olyannyira „jól végezték” a dolgukat, hogy a lopásra csak másnap reggel derült fény, amikor a tulaj kinyitotta a raktárat. A széf sértetlen volt, nem lehetett látni feszegetésre utaló nyomot.

A hatóságok szerint az incidens helyi idő szerint csütörtökön 16:30 körül történt. Egy sajtótájékoztatón elmondták, hogy egy építésen dolgozó brigád éppen a daru „lépcsőzését” végezte, amikor egy emelvény az épületről lezuhant, a daru darabjaival együtt – írja a Reuters.

Mobilházak alkotta lakótelepre zuhant egy kisrepülőgép a floridai Clearwaterben helyi idő szerint csütörtökön, a balesetben többen meghaltak – közölte a helyi tűzoltóság parancsnoka.
Scott Ehler beszámolója szerint a repülőgép a St. Pete-Clearwater nemzetközi repülőtérről szállt fel, és a kifutópályától öt kilométerre északra tűnt el a radarról.
A Szövetségi Légügyi Hatóság (FAA) közlése szerint a Beechcraft Bonanza V35 típusú, egymotoros könnyű repülőgép pilótája csütörtök este 7 órakor jelezte az irányítóközpont felé a motor meghibásodását.
A kisrepülő ezután veszíteni kezdett a repülési magasságból, majd Clearwaternél a mozgatható házakból álló Bayside Waters lakótelepre zuhant. A zuhanás következtében egy mobilotthon teljesen megsemmisült, további három kigyulladt, de a tűzoltók hamar eloltották a tüzet – számolt be róla Ehlers.

Emberi maradványokkal a szájában talált rá egy járókelő egy négy méter hosszú aligátorra a Florida állambeli Largóban.
Jamarcus Bullard azt nyilatkozta a sajtónak, hogy péntek este arra lett figyelmes, hogy egy aligátort lát az út menti csatornába. Megdobta egy kővel, az állat megmozdult, akkor látta, hogy egy ember testének részét húzza a víz alá.
A hatóságok az állatot „humánusan” elpusztították, a holttestet pedig azonosították: a 41 éves Sabrina Peckham volt az. Az még nem biztos, hogy az állat okozta a nő halálát. Bírósági papírok szerint a hajléktalan Peckhamet korábban letartóztatták, amiért tiltott területen gázolt át a közeli mocsárnál.
A halálos aligátortámadások elég ritkák az Egyesült Államokban, évente átlagosan hatot jegyeznek fel a hatóságok. Csak Floridában volt már idén kettő, legutóbb egy kétéves gyereket ragadott el egy állat, egyébként nem messze Largótól.
Becslések szerint Floridában 1,3 millió aligátor él.

Halálos helikopter-baleset történt Floridában hétfőn, egy tűzoltósági mentőhelikopter lakóépületre zuhant. A balesetben meghalt a helikopter egyik utasa, valamint a lakóház egyik lakója. A rendőrség jelenleg is vizsgálja az esetet.
Floridában helyi idő szerint hétfő reggel lakóháznak csapódott a Broward megyei seriffhivatal helikoptere. A balesetben két ember meghalt – írta a BBC.
A baleset egy Fort Lauderdale-től északra fekvő repülőtér közelében történt, a gép épp egy segélyhívást kapott, ezért szállt fel a levegőbe.
A Szövetségi Légiközlekedési Hivatal (FAA) megerősítette, a helikopter fedélzetén három ember tartózkodott, egyikük nem élte túl a tragédiát. Mint írták, az áldozat a Broward seriff hivatal kapitánya, Terryson Jackson volt.
A Sky News értesülése szerint az érintett lakóház egyik lakója is meghalt.
A repülőgép-szerencsétlenség két sérült áldozatát kórházban ápolják, ők nincsenek életveszélyes állapotban – tudta meg a CNN.
A helyi rendőrség egyelőre nem adott bővebb tájékoztatást, jelenleg is vizsgálják az esetet.
A balesetről készült felvétel szerint a helikopter hatalmas füsttel égett a levegőben, majd hirtelen pörögni kezdett, végül pedig lezuhant a földre, egyenesen a Pompano Beach-i lakóházba.

Az óriási mennyiségű tudatmódosító szert tartalmazó csomagot az amerikai határőrség szerint július 23-án fedezték fel Marathontól délre – írja a CNN.
Castor elmentette a lelet helyét, amikor családjával kiemelte a csomagot a vízből csónakjukra, amivel eredetileg horgászni indultak. A polgármester azonnal kapcsolatba lépett a Monroe megyei seriffhivatallal, hogy jelentse a nagy mennyiségű kábítószer fellelését.
A határőrség miami szektorának ügynökei ezután átvették az anyagot – közölte a határőrség és a Monroe megyei seriffhivatal. A csomagolásban 25 tégla kokain volt.
„Arra biztatjuk a közösséget, hogy azonnal jelentsék a gyanús tevékenységet a helyi hatóságoknak” – mondta Adam Hoffner helyettes járőrfőnök.
Jelenlegi polgármesteri szerepét megelőzően Castor 31 évet töltött a Tampai Rendőrkapitányságon, ahol a várost szinte minden beosztásban és városrészben szolgálta. 2009 októberében Tampa első női rendőrfőnöke lett, és hat évig töltötte be ezt a tisztséget – olvasható a Tampa város honlapján található életrajzában.

Floridában több tucat elsüllyesztett, a feltételezések szerint bűncselekményekhez köthető autóra bukkantak a hatóságok önkéntes búvárok munkájának nyomán egy tóban.
A rendőrség megerősítette a két búvár, Doug Bishop és Ken Fleming vasárnap adott sajtónyilatkozatát, amelyben arról beszéltek, hogy 32 autót találtak a floridai Miami mellett. A beszámolók szerint a nemzetközi repülőtér közelében fekvő tóban vannak a járművek. A búvárok egy magánszervezet tagjai, amely eltűnt személyeket keres, és munkájuk során jutottak el a tóhoz.
A Miami-Dade megyei rendőrség közölte, hogy átveszi a vizsgálatot az ügyben, és a tervek szerint kiemelik az autókat a tóból.
