A South China Morning Post (SCMP) című hongkongi lap szerint az eset a város eddigi második legnagyobb kokainfogásának számít.
A kábítószerre Brazíliából érkező szállítmány vizsgálatakor bukkantak a rendőrök, amelyet az egyik helyi logisztikai vállalat kezelt. A Sao Paulóból érkezett hajón szállított két konténer összesen 256 hordót tartalmazott, amelyeket eredetileg fagyasztott gyümölcslé tárolására használtak.
A hordók közül hét azonban 508 csomagba porciózott, összesen 610 kilogramm súlyú kokaint rejtett.
Hétfői sajtótájékoztatóján a rendőrség a drogszállítmány értékét 620 millió hongkongi dollárra, átszámítva 24,7 milliárd forintra becsülte.
A szállítmánnyal összefüggésben szombaton őrizetbe vettek egy 28 éves férfit.
A rendőrökben az keltett gyanút, hogy bár a szállítás idejére mínusz 18 fokos hőmérsékletet írtak elő, a Hongkongba érkezése után a szállítmány címzettjei jelezték, hogy a szállítás végső szakaszában, illetve a raktározáskor nincs szükség hűtött környezetre.
A szállítás költsége ráadásul jelentősen meghaladta a jelentett áru értékét.
További árulkodó jel volt, hogy a tároláshoz fémhordókat használtak, holott a fagyasztott gyümölcsleveket és hasonló árucikkeket jellemzően műanyag hordókban szállítják. A rendőrség szerint a fémtartályokkal a csempészek szándékosan a hatóságok munkáját kívánták nehezíteni, ezek átvilágításához ugyanis hatékony röntgengépekre van szükség, kézi átvizsgálásuk pedig sokkal időigényesebb – írja az SCMP.
Hongkongban az eddigi legnagyobb mennyiségű kokainszállítmányt áprilisban foglalták le.
A 700 kilogramm kábítószer értékét 900 millió hongkongi dollárra, azaz 35,9 milliárd forintra becsülték.
A hongkongi törvények szerint a kábítószercsempészésért kiszabható, maximális büntetés életfogytig tartó szabadságvesztés és 5 millió hongkongi dolláros, azaz 199 millió forintos pénzbírság lehet.

Ka Long Hongkong első aranyérmét szerezte az elmúlt 25 évben. Tokióban emellett a 23 éves Siobhan Haughey volt eredményes, ő második lett 200 méteres gyorsúszásban.

Tűz ütött ki vasárnap egy tájfunok miatt kiépített menedékhelyen Hongkongban, legkevesebb 30 hajó kapott lángra, amelyek közül 10 elsüllyedt.
Helyi idő szerint éjjel fél 3-kor ütött ki tűz az Aberdeen South nevű, elsősorban tájfunok ellen épített menedékhelyen és legalább hat órába tellett, mire sikerült a tüzet eloltani – számolt be róla a Washington Post.
A tűzeset idejében összesen 35-en tartózkodtak a különböző hajókon, közülük mindenkit sikerült kimentenie a tűzoltóknak. Jelenleg rendelkezésre álló adatok szerint személyi sérülés nem történt, egy ember azonban nem érezte jól magát, ezért őt elővigyázatosságból kórházba szállították.
A tűzoltók közleménye szerint legalább 11 vízi és 8 légi tűzoltógépet kellett bevetni a tűz legyőzése érdekében, amely végül helyi idő szerint reggelre sikerült is. Azt azonban továbbra sem tudni, mi okozhatta pontosan a tüzet.
A South China Morning Post pedig úgy tudja, hogy a füst a környező lakóházakat is érintette, a helyiek panaszkodtak is a fojtogató tűzre. A hongkongi napilapnak nyilatkozó tűzoltó szerint a tűz először egy jachton ütött ki és a szél miatt gyorsan átterjedt a többi hajóra is.

A hongkongi hatóságok a nemzetbiztonsági törvény megsértésének gyanújával őrizetbe vették az Apple Daily hongkongi lap vezércikkíróját szerdán – számolt be internetes kiadásában a South China Morning Post (SCMP) című hongkongi lap.
Az 55 éves Yeung Ching-keet, akinek írásai Li Ping név alatt jelentek meg a lapban, külföldi erőkkel való összejátszás gyanújával állították elő helyi idő szerint kora hajnalban.
A SCMP szerint Yeung 2016-tól kezdve mintegy 800 cikket és kommentárt írt a lapnak. Legutóbbi írása kedden jelent meg.
A hatóságok közlése szerint további előállítások is lehetnek.
A hongkongi rendőrség nemzetbiztonságért felelős egysége a múlt csütörtökön nagyszabású, meglepetésszerű razziában a lap öt vezető munkatársát vette őrizetbe az Apple Daily nyomtatott, illetve internetes kiadásban is megjelent cikkek tartalmára hivatkozva. Az írások egyebek mellett Hongkonggal és a kínai anyaországgal szembeni külföldi szankciókat szorgalmaztak, ami a rendőrség szerint bizonyíték arra, hogy a lap vezetősége külföldi erőkkel szőtt összeesküvést. Ugyanaznap a hatóságok a laphoz kötődő három cég tizennyolcmillió hongkongi dolláros (680 millió forintnyi) vagyonát is zárolták, valamint házkutatást végeztek az őrizetbe vettek otthonaiban és a lap székházában. A székház átkutatásában több mint kétszáz rendőr vett részt, több mint hat órán át kutattak az irodákban, és több mint negyven digitális eszközt – a többi között számítógépeket és merevlemezeket – foglaltak le. A főszerkesztő és a lapkiadó ellen múlt pénteken vádat emeltek külföldi erőkkel történő összejátszás miatt.
Az Apple Dailyt működtető Next Digital hétfőn közölte: amennyiben a hatóságok nem szabadítják fel a lap vagyonát, arra kényszerülhetnek, hogy szombaton adják ki az utolsó lapszámot, mert nem tudják kifizetni a munkatársaik bérét. A lap angol nyelvű hírszolgáltatója, valamint pénzügyi hírekkel foglalkozó weboldala kedden felfüggesztette működését, a naponta jelentkező hírműsorát pedig hétfő este sugározták utoljára. Az Apple Daily munkatársainak közel fele adta már be keddig a felmondását. A szintén a Next Digital által fenntartott Next Magazine kiadója pedig órákkal Yeung őrizetbe vétele előtt jelentette be, hogy a híroldal megszűnik.
Tavaly augusztusban a rendőrség már őrizetbe vette Jimmy Lait, az Apple Daily alapítóját, valamint a laphoz kötődő, kilenc másik ember – köztük Lai fia – is rács mögé került a nemzetbiztonsági törvény megsértése, valamint csalás gyanújával. Lai jelenleg börtönbüntetését tölti.

Őrizetbe vette csütörtökön a város nemzetbiztonsági rendészete több tucat, a nyomtatott, illetve internetes kiadásban is megjelent cikk tartalmára, a hongkongi Apple Daily lap több munkatársát, köztük a főszerkesztőt is – számolt be a South China Morning Post (SCMP) című hongkongi lap.
A hatóságok által kifogásolt írások egyebek mellett Hongkonggal és a kínai anyaországgal szembeni külföldi szankciókat szorgalmaztak, ami a rendőrség szerint bizonyíték arra, hogy a lap vezetősége külföldi erőkkel folytatott összeesküvést. A főszerkesztő, a lapkiadó és további három vezető munkatárs előállítása mellett a laphoz kötődő három cég 18 millió hongkongi dollárt (680 millió forint) kitevő vagyonát is befagyasztották. Az őrizetbe vettek otthonaiban házkutatást tartottak. A kora reggeli akció keretében több mint kétszáz – a CNN információi szerint ötszáz – rendőr végzett házkutatást az Apple Daily székházában.
A razzia után az Apple Daily székházát bűnügyi helyszínnek nyilvánították, a hatóságok lefoglalták az elektronikus eszközöket, mobiltelefonokat, számítógépeket és laptopokat.
John Lee hongkongi biztonsági miniszter arra figyelmeztette az újságírókat, hogy tartsák magukat távol az Apple Daily által tanúsított magatartástól. Leszögezte: a hongkongi kormányzat a legszigorúbb intézkedésekkel fog szembeszállni bármilyen személlyel vagy vállalattal, ha újságírói munka mögé bújva próbálja fenyegetni a nemzetbiztonságot.
Tavaly augusztusban a rendőrség már őrizetbe vette Jimmy Lait, az Apple Daily alapítóját, valamint a laphoz kötődő kilenc másik embert – köztük Lai fiát – a nemzetbiztonsági törvény megszegése és csalás gyanújával. Lai jelenleg börtönbüntetését tölti 2019-es, valamint tavalyi, engedély nélküli gyülekezéseken betöltött szerepei miatt. A vádak szerint Lai „külföldi országgal játszott össze, lázító szavakat használt, és megtévesztő célú összeesküvésben vett részt”.

Chow Hang-tungot, aki a Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China (Hongkongi szövetség Kína hazafias demokratikus mozgalmainak támogatására) nevű szervezet elnökhelyettese, azzal a gyanúval állították elő, hogy népszerűsíti a nem engedélyezett megemlékezést.
A Hongkongban korábban minden június 4-én megrendezett esemény megtartására a rendőrség idén második alkalommal nem adott engedélyt, a koronavírus-járvány miatti óvintézkedésekre hivatkozva. A megemlékezést hagyományosan szervező szövetség mindazonáltal arra szólította fel a hongkongiakat, hogy emlékezzenek meg a maguk módján a június 4-i évfordulóról „törvényes, biztonságos, békés és ésszerű módon, hogy az igazság ne tűnjön el”. A szervezők ugyanakkor lemondtak a megemlékezés virtuális megtartásáról is, amiatti aggodalmukban, hogy azzal megsértenék a pekingi kormányzat által kidolgozott, tavaly júniusban érvénybe lépett nemzetbiztonsági törvényt.
Gyertyát gyújt
Szerdán ideiglenesen bezárt továbbá a városban működő, a Tienanmen téri eseményeknek szentelt múzeum, miután a helyi hatóságok vizsgálatot indítottak egy, a működési engedélyével kapcsolatos panasz kapcsán. A múzeum üzemeltetője szintén a gyertyafényes megemlékezést szervező szövetség.
Chow a Facebook oldalán szombaton közzétett bejegyzésben azt írta, hogy június 4-én este gyertyát fog gyújtani egy olyan helyen, ahol azt mindenki láthatja.

A pekingi keményvonalas kommunista vezetés utasítására a kínai hadsereg 1989. június 4-én nekilátott a Peking központjában található Tienanmen tér kiürítésének, miután azt április óta elfoglalták a demokratikus változásokat követelő tüntetők. Az erőszakos művelet halálos áldozatainak száma máig ismeretlen, mivel a történtek Kínában azóta is tabunak számítanak. A becslések néhány száz és háromezer közé teszik a meggyilkolt emberek számát, de az akkor Pekingben állomásozó brit nagykövet 2017-ben előkerült titkos távirata szerint tízezer halottja volt a vérengzésnek. Kínában az eseményekkel kapcsolatos megemlékezéseket és megnyilvánulásokat szigorúan tiltják.

Hogy pontosan mi történt, egyelőre nem tudni. A feltételezések szerint a készülékek akkumulátora okozhatta a tüzet, a lítiumakkumulátorok ugyanis könnyen lángra tudnak kapni, ha valamilyen erőbehatás éri őket.
A beszámoló szerint a raklapokon a kínai Vivo telefonjai voltak, amelyeket a Hong Kong Cargo Airlines szállított volna Bangkokba és Thaiföldre. A balesetben senki sem sérült meg.
Az AirPortal szerint a mobiltelefonok szállítására szigorú szabályok vonatkoznak. Az egyik ilyen, hogy a készülék akkumulátorának töltöttsége 50-70 százalékon kell, hogy álljon.
