У суботу, 20 січня, в Іраку атакували авіабазу Айн аль-Асад, на якій перебувають американські військові. Декілька військовослужбовців отримали поранення.

У виданні пишуть, що за словами джерел у сфері оборони США, авіабаза була атакована щонайменше дюжиною ракет або артилерійськими снарядами. При цьому 13 ракет або снарядів були збиті засобами протиповітряної оборони.
Відзначають, що сьогодні приблизно 2 500 американських військових знаходяться в Іраку і близько ще 900 в Сирії.
«Початкова інформація вказує на те, що база була вражена балістичними ракетами, але не виключено, що база була вражена артилерійськими снарядами. Це сталося після того, як сили Центрального командування США знищили протикорабельну пускову установку єменських хуситів, яка була націлена на район Аденської затоки», – додають у повідомленні.

Губернатор провінції Наджим аль-Джубурі попередив, що остаточних даних про втрати внаслідок пожежі поки що немає, і кількість загиблих все ще може зрости. За попередньою інформацією, молодята є серед загиблих.
Представник управління охорони здоров’я повідомив, що щонайменше 50 постраждалих перебувають у критичному стані: «Більшість поранених були повністю обпалені. А в деяких було обпалено від 50 до 60 відсотків тіла». Більшість постраждалих – молоді чоловіки та жінки.
У цивільній обороні Іраку заявили, що пожежу міг викликати феєрверк, використаний під час святкування: «Попередня інформація вказує на те, що під час весілля використовувався феєрверк, що спровокувало пожежу у залі».
Причиною такого сильного займання стали легкозаймисті матеріали, використані для будівництва залу для заходів. Крім того, у будівлі не було вжито належних заходів безпеки.
«Пожежа призвела до обвалення деяких частин стелі через використання легкозаймистих та недорогих будівельних матеріалів», — йдеться у заяві органів цивільної оборони.

Як передає Укрінформ, про це повідомляє AP.
Двоє іракських медичних працівників, які побажали залишитися анонімними, повідомили AP, що автопригода сталася за 90 кілометрів на північ від Багдада.
Жертвами ДТП стали 15 чоловіків та троє жінок. Серед них 10 іранців, двоє іракців — водій автобуса та його син, а також шість осіб з невідомим громадянством, повідомили місцеві чиновники.Як відомо, мільйони віруючих щороку їдуть до міста Кербела на шиїтське свято Арбаїн, яке вважається найбільшим щорічним громадським зібранням у світі.
Традиційно паломники прибувають з різних куточків Іраку, а також з Ірану та країн Перської затоки, багато хто прямує до Кербели пішки.

В Іраку тисячі прихильників лідера шиїтської напіввійськової організації „Армія Махді”, священнослужителя і політика Муктади ас-Садра в суботу, 30 липня, вдруге за тиждень взяли штурмом урядову „зелену зону” і прорвалися будівлю парламенту країни.

Вони вимагають створення уряду, вільного від іноземного впливу і корупції.
Демонстранти, очолювані ас-Садром і його рухом, трощили бетонні загородження і кидали каміння. Поліція застосувала сльозогінний газ. За даними влади, щонайменше 125 людей отримали поранення, включаючи протестувальників і поліцейських.
Муктада ас-Садр продовжує боротися за владу
Партія ас-Садра здобула перемогу на іракських виборах у жовтні 2021 року. Однак він відкликав своїх депутатів з парламенту після того, як йому не вдалося сформувати уряд.
Він хотів створити альянс проти шиїтських партій, більшість з яких отримують військову і фінансову підтримку з боку Ірану і мають свої воєнізовані угруповання.
В результаті десятки місць дісталися альянсу шиїтських партій. Майже рік Ірак залишається без президента і прем’єр-міністра, оскільки ситуація зайшла в глухий кут.
У боротьбі за владу рух ас-Садра хоче перешкодити своїм політичним опонентам з оточення колишнього глави уряду Нурі аль-Малікі сформувати уряд.
Суперники 47-річного релігійного лідера представили свого кандидата на посаду прем’єр-міністра через майже десять місяців після парламентських виборів. Однак, з точки зору ас-Садра, колишній міністр Мухаммед Шіях ас-Судані, який був висунутий на цю посаду, занадто близький до експрем’єра аль-Малікі, ворогуючому з ас-Садром. Більш того, аль-Малікі і його альянс відкрито симпатизують сусідньому Ірану.

Кілька сотень протестувальників, які виступають проти призначення прем’єр-міністром проіранськи налаштованого урядовця Мохамеда ас-Судані, увірвалися до будівлі іракського парламенту.
В Іраку після жовтневих виборів нікому не вдалося сформувати уряд. Найбільша коаліція шиїтських партій, Координаційна, у понеділок заявила, що висуває на пост прем’єр-міністра нинішнього міністра з прав людини, який підтримує добрі відносини з Тегераном.
Це викликало масові протести. На четвертий день демонстрацій люди перелізли через бетонний паркан навколо будівлі парламенту, розбили скляні двері та влаштували безчинство в порожніх залах засідань.

Міністр оборони Туреччини Хулусі Акар заявив, що Анкара розпочала новий повітряний і наземний наступ проти курдських бойовиків на півночі Іраку.

Акар повідомив, що в операції “Claw-Lock” беруть участь підрозділи командос і спецпідрозділи за підтримки безпілотників і ударних гелікоптерів. Вони атакують схованки Робочої партії Курдистану (PПK) в районах Метіна, Зап і Авашин-Басьян на півночі Іраку.
Скільки військових брали участь в операції, не інформують. Її розпочали у неділю, 17 квітня, коли виявили, що РПК нібито планує широкомасштабний напад на Туреччину. Про ймовірність нападу місцеві ЗМІ повідомляли протягом останніх тижнів.
Регіональний уряд Курдистану має складні відносини з угрупованням РПК, чия присутність ускладнює торговельні зв’язки регіону з Туреччиною, пише AlJazeera. Анкара регулярно здійснює напади в курдському регіоні на півночі Іраку, у місцях, де Робоча партія має бази та навчальні табори.
Ці наступи напружили зв’язки Туреччини з центральним урядом Іраку в Багдаді, який звинуватив країну в недотриманні територіальної цілісності. Ірак поки не коментує останню операцію. Заяви від Робочої партії Курдистану не було.
РПК веде повстання проти турецької держави з 1984 року. Туреччина та західні союзники оголосили її “терористичною групою”. Повідомляється, що відтоді було вбито десятки тисяч людей.

Декілька ракет було випущено в суботу ввечері у бік консульства США в місті Ербілі на північному заході Іраку.
Як передає Укрінформ, про це повідомляє Reuters із посиланням на державні ЗМІ Іраку.
Губернатор Ербіля Омед Хошнав заявив, що в цьому районі впало кілька ракет. Він зауважив, що незрозуміло, чи вони були націлені на консульство США, чи на міський аеропорт.
Уточнюється, що під час атаки пролунало п’ять вибухів.
Американські військові внаслідок нападу в Ербілі не постраждали.
Міністр охорони здоров’я Курдистану заявив, що жодних повідомлень про поранених чи загиблих внаслідок нападу не було.
