Kibertámadás érte Írország nemzeti egészségügyi rendszerét – számolt be róla az Engadget.
Az ír Egészségbiztosítási Ellátó Szolgálat (HSE) ezért elővigyázatosságból leállította az egész számítógépes hálózatát, amíg megvitatja biztonsági partnereivel a szükséges lépéseket. A helyi The Irish Times szerint a HSE az ír rendőrséggel, a kormányzattal és kiberbiztonsági szakértőkkel együtt vizsgálja az ügyet. A koronavírus elleni vakcinák beadását nem érinti a támadás, az oltási folyamat továbbra is zavartalanul halad tovább – közölte a szolgálat. Az időpontok foglalásában és a konzultációkban viszont előfordulhatnak csúszások, mivel az egészségügyi dolgozóknak a digitális rendszerről tollra és papírra kellett váltaniuk.
A HSE vezetője, Paul Reid elmondása szerint a péntek reggeli leállás minden nemzeti és helyi egészségügyi rendszert érint. A zsarolóvírusos támadás elkövetői (egyelőre) nem követeltek váltságdíjat a feloldásért cserébe. A támadás forrása egyelőre nem megerősített, és annyit tudni, hogy a Conti nevű ransomware-t juttatták az elkövetők a rendszerbe, ami nem csak titkosítja, de el is lopja a hálózaton található érzékeny adatokat.
A HSE ellen elkövetett támadás újabb bizonyítéka annak, hogy a kiberbűnözők számára kimondottan vonzók az egészségügyi szervezetek. 2017-ben A WannaCry nevű zsarolóvírus (ransomware) először a brit egészségügyi rendszer, az NHS hálózatát omlasztotta össze, majd sorra jöttek a hírek a spanyoloktól, románoktól stb. a támadásokról.

Micheál Martin, Írország miniszterelnöke a közelmúltban bejelentette, hogy az országban „minimum egy hónapra az ötödik szintű korlátozások bevezetését tervezi a koronavírus terjedésének korlátozása érdekében”.
A nemzethez intézett beszédében „rendkívül súlyosnak” nevezte a helyzetet, kijelentve, hogy „az új törzs a legnagyobb ütemet meghaladó ütemben terjed”, majd hozzátette: „A következő napokban a számadatok csak rosszabbak lesznek”. „Az újabb feszültség és a növekedés ütemének fényében nincs idő az intézkedések mérlegelésére. Lassítanunk kell a terjedést és a fizikai kapcsolatot országszerte… Legalább egy hónapra vissza kell térnünk az ötödik szintű, szinte teljes körű korlátozásokhoz”. Kiemelte, már „ma estétől, (december 30-tól) hatályban lesznek a szigorú korlátozások”.
A szigorú korlátozások a rokonok, barátok vagy szomszédok látogatására vonatkoznak, kivéve azokat az eseteket, amikor gyermekről, idős vagy fogyatékkal élő ember gondozásáról van szó.
Tilos bármilyen nyilvános vagy családi összejövetel, kivéve az esküvőket, amelyeken maximum 6 és temetés, amelyen maximum 10 fő vehet részt.
Írország lakosságának otthon kell maradnia, kivéve üzleti és tanulmányi vagy egyéb fontos okból kifolyó utazásokat. A lakhelyet csak 5 km-en belüli körzetben szabad, testgyakorlás céljából elhagyni. Ezen kívül az összes „nem alapvető” cikkeket értékesítő bolt és az edzőtermek kivétel nélkül be lesznek zárva.
Január 11-én országszerte újra kinyitnak az iskolák, a karácsonyi szünidő három nappal tovább tart. Az ír kormány jóváhagyta, hogy január 6-ig meghosszabbítja az Egyesült Királyságból, kompon érkező légi és utasforgalmi tilalmat.
„Mivel hasonló új koronavírus törzset találtak Dél-Afrikában is, ez a tilalom erre az országra is vonatkozik, és szintén január 6-ig érvényes” – tette hozzá az ír kormányfő.
Martin úr arra is figyelmeztetett, hogy a következő hónap „mindenki számára nagyon nehéz lesz, de a korlátozások feloldása már nincs messze”.
„Hetente több ezer vakcinát kapunk, és biztos vagyok benne, hogy január végére a lakosság legérzékenyebb rétege és az egészségügyi dolgozók be lesznek oltva” – összegezte Micheál Martin, Írország miniszterelnöke.

Észak-Írországban őrizetbe vettek szerdán kilenc embert, akiket azzal gyanúsítanak, hogy a függetlenségért küzdő egykori Ír Köztársasági Hadsereg (IRA) egyik szakadár csoportjához tartoznak.
A helyi rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint hét férfiról és két nőről van szó, akik az Új IRA feltételezett tagjai.
A gyanú szerint számos terrorista tevékenységet folytattak.
Az 1998-as nagypénteki egyezménnyel elindult megbékélési folyamat meghatározó horderejű mozzanataként az IRA – amely valaha a legnagyobb britellenes katolikus félkatonai szervezet volt Észak-Írországban – már hosszú évekkel ezelőtt felhagyott a fegyveres akciókkal, leszerelte fegyverzetét, és gyakorlatilag beszüntette tevékenységét.
Az IRA működésének beszüntetését és a felekezeti kiegyezést egyes kisebb katolikus szakadár szervezetek – amelyek közül többen valamilyen kiegészítő jelzővel IRA-nak nevezik magukat – azonban még most sem fogadják el, és további harcot hirdettek a brit fennhatóság ellen.
Ilyen szervezet a 2012-ben alakult Új IRA is.

Az RTE ír köztévé beszámolója szerint szerdán este jelentették a 17 és 21 éves unokatestvérek eltűnését, akik a Galway-öbölben hódoltak a deszkán evezés sportjának.
Egyikük édesanyja értesítette a parti őrséget este tíz óra körül, miután a lányok nem tértek vissza. A parti őrség helyi önkéntesek segítségével nagyszabású tengeri és légi keresést indítottak a felkutatásukra, végül csütörtök hajnalban egy halász és a fia találta meg őket 27 kilométerre eltűnésük helyétől.
A lányok egy homárcsapda helyét jelző bójába kapaszkodva vészelték át az éjszakát a nyílt tengeren a szakadó esőben és erős szélben.
Evezőlapátjukat lengetve próbálták felhívni magukra a figyelmet.
A halász elmondta, hogy a lányok nagyon kimerültek voltak, de azért tudtak ülni, és egy kicsit beszélgetni is lehetett velük. Megmentőjük egy kis szigetre vitte őket, ahonnét helikopterrel szállították kórházba a bajba került fiatalokat.

A két gyanúsított személyazonossága egyelőre nem nyilvános, annyit azonban már tudni lehet, hogy egyikük, a majdani fővádlott egy 31 éves korábbi profi futballista, aki ír klubok mellett megfordult Angliában is. Segítőjét, egy 41 éves férfit szintén a labdarúgáshoz köt a munkája. Most mindketten előzetes letartóztatásban vannak, ahol az ír törvények szerint legfeljebb hét napot tölthetnek.

Körülbelül 20 percen át ömlött az eső, és közben erősen villámlott is. Utóbbi okozhatta kilenc tehén halálát is: a tetemeket megtaláló szerint
az elpusztult teheneknek égnek állt a lábuk.
Történt már ilyen eset Írországban: tavaly nyolc tehenet csapott agyon a villám Moneygallban.
Tavaly májusban két zsiráf halt meg villámcsapás miatt egy floridai vadasparkban, akik éppen a legelőn voltak, amikor hirtelen kitört a vihar.
Bár a villámok általában felhőkarcolókba és fákba csapnak, nyílt terepre is mehetnek attól függően, hogy hol gyülemlik fel a feszültség, sőt, akár a viharfelhőtől 40 kilométerre is lecsaphat, ahol már tisztának tűnik az égbolt.

Írország ebben az évben valószínűleg nem engedi meg nagyobb tömegek gyülekezetét, bár május 5-től már megszünteti a korlátozásokat. Ezt Írország egészségügyi minisztere, Simon Harris jelentette be, írja a Jevropejszkaja Pravda a Reuters-re hivatkozva.
„Nem tudom elképzelni, hogyan lehetnének emberek ismét zsúfolt kocsmákban, amikor a vírus még itt van, nincs vakcina vagy hatékony kezelés” – mondta Harris.
Elmondása szerint a házi karanténról szóló korlátozás május 5-től valószínűleg fel lesz oldva. Ugyanakkor Harris kijelentette, hogy a legszigorúbb korlátozások enyhítésére lassan és fokozatosan kerül sor. Az idős embereknek valószínűleg sokáig elszigetelésben kell maradniuk. „Tisztában vagyok azzal, hogy a távolságtartás lesz még sokáig a realitás, mert tudjuk, hogy egy bizonyos kor feletti emberek a legsebezhetőbbek. De vajon biztonságos-e, hogy időről időre kimennek és sétálnak?” – mondta Harris.
Jelenleg Írországban az emberek lakhelyük 2 km-es körzetében mehetnek bevásárolni vagy sportolni. A 70 éven felüliek nem hagyhatják el otthonukat.
