Egy héten belül a második nagy vihar söpört végig Írországon. A közösségi médiában közzétett felvételeken egy tornádó-szerű légköri jelenséget lehet látni, amiről az ír meteorológiai szolgálat is jelentett. A Fergus vihar epicentrumát – Leitrimet – a rendőrség lezárta, amíg a kárelhárítás tart.
A Fergus vihar miatt súlyosan megrongálódott házakról és autókról érkezett bejelentés.
A rendőrség felszólította a lakosságot, hogy kerüljék el a vihar epicentrumát, Leitrim környékét.
Hozzátették, hogy nem érkezett jelentés arról, hogy bárki súlyosan megsérült volna.
Egy lakó, Eileen Gibbons szerint csoda, hogy senki sem sérült meg súlyosan.
Elmondta, hogy a vihar leszakította a tetőt az egyik épületről, ami egy étterem udvarán zuhant le és nagy kárt okozott.
Liz Walsh, az Ír Meteorológiai Szolgálat meteorológusa szerint a tornádóról szóló jelentések a térségben helytállóak.
Több meteorológiai szolgálat is riasztást adott ki, mivel Észak-Írországban, Skóciában, valamint Anglia és Wales egyes részein továbbra is heves esőzésekre kell számítani – írja a Sky.

Egy negyvenes éveiben és egy hatvanas éveiben járó férfit vett őrizetbe pénteken az ír rendőrség, miután rajtaütöttek egy heroinszállítmányon a dublini Weston repülőtéren – számolt be több más mellett a BBC is. A lefoglalt 60 kilónyi heroin piaci értéke 8 millió euró, azt egy pénteken reggel landoló kisrepülégépen találták a hatóságok a titkosszolgálatok által irányított akció keretében.
A két férfit a kábítószer-kereskedelemet tiltó törvény alapján tartják őrizetben, egyelőre legfeljebb hét napig.
A BBC az RTÉ csatorna értesüléseire hivatkozva azt írja, hogy a kábítószert egy családi alapon szerveződő dublini banda szerezte be, amely kapcsolatban áll a hírhedt ír Kinahan bűnszervezettel. Az ír rendőrség, a Garda tisztségviselője rendkívül jelentősnek nevezte a pénteki kábítószerfogást.
A hvg.hu úgy értesült, hogy magyar szála is lehet az ügynek, a kábítószerfogásról készült rendőrségi fotón ugyanis felbukkan az a repülőgép, amellyel a drogot szállították. A kisgép lajstromjele ugyan nem látszik, de rendkívül jellegzetes festett mintázata alapján – amely az alábbi fotón és repülési hobbioldalakon felbukkanó fotók alapján összehasonlítható – megszólalásig hasonlít egy magyar bejegyzésű Cessna-210-es gépre, amelyet a magyar légijármű lajstromban meg is találtunk.
A hírportál telefonon megkereste a gép tulajdonosaként feltüntetett magyar férfit, aki azt mondta, nem tudott az esetről, egyelőre a hatóságoktól nem értesítette senki az ügyről, de a fotó alapján nem zárható ki, hogy az ő tulajdonában lévő gépről van szó, amelyet egyébként egy hete adott kölcsön használatra egy ismerősön keresztül, ahogyan ez korábban is már előfordult.
A hvg.hu megkereste az ír hatóságokat is, akik csak a sajtóközleményükben már korábban közölt információk átküldésére szorítkoztak, így sem arra a kérdésünkre nem válaszoltak, hogy a gép magyar bejegyzésű-e, sem arra, hogy az elfogott két férfi magyar állampolgár-e. Mint írták, további információt az ügyről nem tudnak adni. Eredeti közleményükben ezzel együtt az szerepel, hogy a nyomozás még zajlik és későbbi közlések még lesznek az ügyben.
Az Irish Sun viszont azt írja, a két férfi magyar állampolgár, akik üzletembernek adták ki magukat.

Kétszázhatvanötmillió euróra büntette az ír adatvédelmi biztos a Facebook közösségimédia-vállalatot hétfőn.
A Facebook anyavállalata, a Meta-csoport így összesen közel egymilliárd eurós bírságot kapott már az ír hatóságoktól. A büntetés egy 2021 áprilisában kezdődött nyomozás eredménye. A vizsgálatból kiderült, hogy rengeteg, a Facebook által gyűjtött személyes adat került nyilvánosságra online. A vállalatot egyúttal utasították, hogy tegyen korrektív lépéseket.
Az ír hatóságok hangsúlyozták, hogy a bírság kiszabása előtt egyeztettek más, nagyobb uniós szervezetekkel. A hétfői már a negyedik büntetés, amelyet az ír adatvédelmi biztos a Meta alá tartozó vállalatokra kiszabott.
Szeptemberben rekordnagyságú, 405 millió eurós pénzbírsággal sújtotta az Instagramot, amely ellen a Meta fellebbezést tervez benyújtani. Az ír hatóságoknál további tizenhárom panasz vár kivizsgálásra a közösségimédia-óriással kapcsolatban.
Az ír adatvédelmi biztos foglalkozik az Apple, a Google, a TikTok és számos más techóriás európai tevékenységének szabályozásával, miután ezek európai uniós székhelye Írországban található. Jelenleg negyven vizsgálat van folyamatban az említett vállalatokkal szemben.

A hírt a Jevropejszka pravda közölte a The Irish Independentre hivatkozva.
Az információk szerint a tragédia szeptember 27-én történt, az áldozatokra a menekültszálláson bukkantak.
A nemrég felújított házban 15 menekült élt, az ott élők a zaj hallatára megpróbáltak bejutni az áldozatok szobájába, azonban nem sikerült. Egyikük az utcára szaladt, s az ablakból látta meg a súlyosan sérült gyermeket. A kislány nem halt meg, állapota azonban kritikus. Életmentő műtétet végeztek rajta. Édesanyja állapota szintén súlyos.
A hatóságok állítólag már azonosították a tettest, azonban még nem tartóztatták le. A lakókat más házba költöztették.

Heves viharok tombolnak Irországban, nyomukban áradások és anyagi károk, a helyi meteorológiai intézet újabb nagy vihar közeledtére adott ki figyelmeztetést – jelentették a helyi lapok, köztük az Irish Mirror és a The Irish Times.
Mint arról az Irish Mirror honlapja beszámolt, ritka, kettős figyelmeztetés van érvényben, mert a Eunice nevű vihar nagy hevességgel követi az előző, Dudley névre kereszteltet.
A Dudley már elvonult Írország felett. Óránkénti száz kilométeres sebességű széllökései komoly károkat, áradásokat és vihardagályt okoztak.
A Eunice vihar azonban csütörtök este és péntek reggel érheti el az ír partokat. A helyi meteorológiai előrejelzések szerint rövid lesz, de nagyon heves, erőteljes széllökésekkel. A meteorológiai intézet két külön figyelmeztetést adott ki: havazásra, szélre és esőre vonatkozó riasztást, valamint hét megyére erős széllökéseket előrejelző figyelmeztetést.
Az Irish Mirror idézte Alan O’Reilly meteorológust, aki szerint az újabb vihar „a semmiből bukkan majd fel, és nagyon keményen sújt le”. A The Irish Times Jennifer Canavan meteorológust idézte, aki vihardagály veszélyére és a partmenti településeket fenyegető árvizekre figyelmeztetett.
Az északnyugatira forduló délnyugati szél átlagsebessége meghaladja az óránkénti nyolcvan kilométert, a széllökések pedig a 130 kilométert is elérhetik. A Eunice további partmenti áradásokat okozhat, különösen dagálykor – hívták fel a lakosság figyelmét, különös óvatosságra intve a partmenti településeken élőket.
A legmagasabb fokozatú, vörös jelzésű figyelmeztetés van érvényben a délnyugati Cork és Kerry tartományokban. Éjszakára további esőzéseket, havas esőt és hóhullást jeleztek az egész országban. A havazás főként az ország északi felén lesz jelentős, Connacht és Ulster tartományokban.

A Baltimore-i Johns Hopkins egyetem és kórház szerda reggeli összesítése szerint az ötmillió lelket számláló Írországban a járvány kezdete óta 666 657 fertőzöttet és 5835 halálos áldozatot regisztráltak.

Kibertámadás érte Írország nemzeti egészségügyi rendszerét – számolt be róla az Engadget.
Az ír Egészségbiztosítási Ellátó Szolgálat (HSE) ezért elővigyázatosságból leállította az egész számítógépes hálózatát, amíg megvitatja biztonsági partnereivel a szükséges lépéseket. A helyi The Irish Times szerint a HSE az ír rendőrséggel, a kormányzattal és kiberbiztonsági szakértőkkel együtt vizsgálja az ügyet. A koronavírus elleni vakcinák beadását nem érinti a támadás, az oltási folyamat továbbra is zavartalanul halad tovább – közölte a szolgálat. Az időpontok foglalásában és a konzultációkban viszont előfordulhatnak csúszások, mivel az egészségügyi dolgozóknak a digitális rendszerről tollra és papírra kellett váltaniuk.
A HSE vezetője, Paul Reid elmondása szerint a péntek reggeli leállás minden nemzeti és helyi egészségügyi rendszert érint. A zsarolóvírusos támadás elkövetői (egyelőre) nem követeltek váltságdíjat a feloldásért cserébe. A támadás forrása egyelőre nem megerősített, és annyit tudni, hogy a Conti nevű ransomware-t juttatták az elkövetők a rendszerbe, ami nem csak titkosítja, de el is lopja a hálózaton található érzékeny adatokat.
A HSE ellen elkövetett támadás újabb bizonyítéka annak, hogy a kiberbűnözők számára kimondottan vonzók az egészségügyi szervezetek. 2017-ben A WannaCry nevű zsarolóvírus (ransomware) először a brit egészségügyi rendszer, az NHS hálózatát omlasztotta össze, majd sorra jöttek a hírek a spanyoloktól, románoktól stb. a támadásokról.

Micheál Martin, Írország miniszterelnöke a közelmúltban bejelentette, hogy az országban „minimum egy hónapra az ötödik szintű korlátozások bevezetését tervezi a koronavírus terjedésének korlátozása érdekében”.
A nemzethez intézett beszédében „rendkívül súlyosnak” nevezte a helyzetet, kijelentve, hogy „az új törzs a legnagyobb ütemet meghaladó ütemben terjed”, majd hozzátette: „A következő napokban a számadatok csak rosszabbak lesznek”. „Az újabb feszültség és a növekedés ütemének fényében nincs idő az intézkedések mérlegelésére. Lassítanunk kell a terjedést és a fizikai kapcsolatot országszerte… Legalább egy hónapra vissza kell térnünk az ötödik szintű, szinte teljes körű korlátozásokhoz”. Kiemelte, már „ma estétől, (december 30-tól) hatályban lesznek a szigorú korlátozások”.
A szigorú korlátozások a rokonok, barátok vagy szomszédok látogatására vonatkoznak, kivéve azokat az eseteket, amikor gyermekről, idős vagy fogyatékkal élő ember gondozásáról van szó.
Tilos bármilyen nyilvános vagy családi összejövetel, kivéve az esküvőket, amelyeken maximum 6 és temetés, amelyen maximum 10 fő vehet részt.
Írország lakosságának otthon kell maradnia, kivéve üzleti és tanulmányi vagy egyéb fontos okból kifolyó utazásokat. A lakhelyet csak 5 km-en belüli körzetben szabad, testgyakorlás céljából elhagyni. Ezen kívül az összes „nem alapvető” cikkeket értékesítő bolt és az edzőtermek kivétel nélkül be lesznek zárva.
Január 11-én országszerte újra kinyitnak az iskolák, a karácsonyi szünidő három nappal tovább tart. Az ír kormány jóváhagyta, hogy január 6-ig meghosszabbítja az Egyesült Királyságból, kompon érkező légi és utasforgalmi tilalmat.
„Mivel hasonló új koronavírus törzset találtak Dél-Afrikában is, ez a tilalom erre az országra is vonatkozik, és szintén január 6-ig érvényes” – tette hozzá az ír kormányfő.
Martin úr arra is figyelmeztetett, hogy a következő hónap „mindenki számára nagyon nehéz lesz, de a korlátozások feloldása már nincs messze”.
„Hetente több ezer vakcinát kapunk, és biztos vagyok benne, hogy január végére a lakosság legérzékenyebb rétege és az egészségügyi dolgozók be lesznek oltva” – összegezte Micheál Martin, Írország miniszterelnöke.
