Az incidens helyi idő szerint nem sokkal délután 1 óra előtt történt. A titkosszolgálat egyik tisztviselője elmondta, hogy elővigyázatosságból biztonsági intézkedéseket hoztak, de az elnököt nem fenyegette jelentős veszély – írja a National Post.

Alig tíz nappal az amerikai történelem egyik legsúlyosabb tragédiájának évfordulója előtt Joe Biden elrendelte, hogy oldják fel a titkosítást a 2001. szeptember 11-ei terrortámadáshoz kapcsolódó dokumentumokról – számolt be a Reuters hírügynökség.
Amerikai sajtóértesülések szerint az amerikai elnök utasításba adta az igazságügyi minisztériumnak, hogy a következő hat hónap során fokozatosan hozzák nyilvánosságra a Szövetségi Nyomozó Iroda (FBI) vizsgálati dokumentumait a történtekről.
Biden döntésének előzménye, hogy korábban több mint 1600 áldozat, illetve az áldozatok hozzátartozója nyílt levélben kérte az elnököt, hogy ne menjen el a terrortámadás 20. évfordulójára rendezett megemlékezésre addig, amíg nyilvánosságra nem hozat minden titkosított dokumentumot. Biden egyébként már a tavalyi elnökválasztási kampánya során is ígéretet tett a titkosítás feloldására.
„Amikor elnökjelölt voltam, megígértem mindenkinek, hogy átláthatóságot biztosítok a szeptember 11-i tragikus terrortámadások vizsgálatakor keletkezett dokumentumoknak. Mivel közeledik a gyásznap huszadik évfordulója, teljesítem ezt az ígéretemet” – fogalmazott pénteken Joe Biden.
Érdekesség, hogy az FBI egészen 2016-ig nyomozott a terrortámadáshoz köthető személyek után.

Szerda este több száz tüntető betört az Amerikai Egyesült Államok Capitoliumába. A képviselőház és a szenátus ülését, amelyen hivatalosan bejegyzik az elektorok Joe Bidenre leadott szavazatát, felfüggesztették. A képviselőket a rendőrség kíséri ki az épületből. Több televízió szerint a hatóságok könnygázt is bevetettek a tüntetők ellen.
A biztonságiak tehát nem bírtak a tiltakozókkal, akik bejutottak az épületbe is.
A Fox News szerint a mai napon már a Capitolium két épületét is ki kellett üríteni, mivel több gyanús csomagot is találtak a közelükben.
Donald Trump korábban az összegyűlt hívei előtt kijelentette, hogy soha nem fogja elismerni vereségét, illetve Joe Biden demokrata párti elnökjelölt győzelmét az elnökválasztáson. Trump a demokratákhoz kapcsolódó választási csalásokra hivatkozott, és felszólította alelnökét, Mike Pence-t hogy ne hirdesse ki Joe Biden győzelmét a kongresszus két házának együttes ülésén.
„Soha nem adjuk fel, soha nem ismerjük el a vereséget” – mondta a Fehér Ház közelében található Ellipse parkban tartott megmozduláson. „Megállítjuk a lopást” – jelentette ki Trump a gyanús körülmények között lebonyolított választásra utalva.
Donald Trump arra szólította fel híveit a Twitteren, hogy békésen tüntessenek.

A delaware-i szövetségi ügyészi hivatal vizsgálja Joe Biden megválasztott amerikai elnök fiának, Hunter Bidennek az adóügyeit – írja a CNBC.
A vizsgálatról maga Hunter Biden tett bejelentést, mindössze öt nappal azelőtt, hogy a szövetségi államok összesen 538 elektora december 14-én összeülne és döntene az elnök személyéről. Joe Biden fia azt állítja, nagyon komolyan veszi az ügyet, de egy „professzionális és objektív” vizsgálat tisztázni fogja, hogy minden a törvényi előírásoknak megfelelően csinált.
A novemberi 3-i elnökválasztáson Joe Biden 306, republikánus ellenfele, a távozó elnök Donald Trump 232 elektor támogatását szerezte meg.
A delaware-i vizsgálatba beszállt az amerikai adóhatóság, az IRS bűnügyi részlege és az FBI is. Egyik fókuszában – derül ki a CNN híréből – Hunter Biden Kínában folytatott üzleti tevékenysége áll, és a többi között azt firtatja, hogy mi történt azzal a 2,8 karátos gyémánttal amelyet a megválasztott elnök fia 2017-ben fogadott el a CEFC China Energy nevű kínai cég vezetőjétől, a cégalapító és korábbi vezérigazgató Ye Jianmingtól. Hunter Biden akkor azon dolgozott, hogy a cég fektessen be az amerikai energiaszektorba. Az üzlet végül meghiúsult, Hunter Biden pedig korábban a New Yorkernek adott interjújában azt állította, annyira kényelmetlenül érezte a gyémánt miatt, hogy továbbajándékozta az egyik munkatársának.
Hunter Biden – aki hosszú időn át küzdött kábítószer-függőséggel – a megméretést felvezető kampányban sokáig a Trump-kampány célkeresztjében volt, amiért 2014-ben még alelnökként Joe Biden állítólag egy egymilliárd dolláros segély megvonásával fenyegette meg Petro Porosenko akkori ukrán elnököt, ha nem a fiát, Hunter Bident nevezik ki az ukrán gázipari cég, a Burisma Holdings igazgatótanácsi tagjának. Hunter Biden 2014-től 2019-ig viselte is a tisztséget, Trump szerint pedig Biden alelnökként nyomást gyakorolt az ukránokra, hogy váltsák le a Burisma Holdings ellen vizsgálódó Viktor Sokin főügyészt. Utóbbi 2016-ban meg is történt, a kijevi parlament leváltotta a korruptnak tartott főügyészt, arra azonban nincs bizonyíték, hogy Joe Biden nyomást gyakorolt volna ezért a fia védelmében, és arra sem, hogy az ukránok valaha vizsgálták volna a fia ügyeit.

Az amerikai elnök ellen még megválasztása előtt indított büntetőeljárást az ukrán Állami Nyomozó Iroda. A hivatalos tisztségviselő munkájába való beavatkozás címén kezdett eljárást a korábbi kijevi főügyész kezdeményezte.
Viktor Sokin 2015 februárjától 2016 áprilisáig volt Ukrajna főügyésze. Petro Porosenko akkori ukrán elnök váltatta le arra hivatkozva, hogy túl kevés eredményt tudott felmutatni a korrupció elleni küzdelem terén. Sokin meggyőződése viszont az, hogy éppen a Burisma gázvállalat ellen indított korrupciós vizsgálatai miatt távolították el hivatalából. A magántulajdonú ukrán gázcégnek igazgatótanácsi tagja volt akkor még Joe Biden fia, Hunter.
Sokin azzal vádolta Bident, hogy az ő nyomására váltották le a főügyészi posztról. Ezt azokra a hangfelvételekre alapozta, amelyeket Andrij Derkacs Moszkva-barát ukrán parlamenti képviselő hozott nyilvánosságra Porosenko elnök és Biden állítólagos beszélgetéseiről. Derkacs azt állította, hogy a felvételeket maga Porosenko készítette.
Biden kampányirodája szerint a hangfelvételeket megvágták, és Porosenko ugyancsak hamisítványnak nevezte őket, hozzátéve, hogy készítőik célja az ukrán-amerikai kapcsolatok aláaknázása volt. A felvételeket ugyanakkor az ukrán főügyészség csatolta a Porosenko ellen hazaárulás és hatalommal való visszaélés gyanújával indított vizsgálat anyagaihoz.
