 Згідно з повідомленням порталу The Guardian, 41-річний педагог-канібал познайомився із своєю жертвою – 43-річним монтажником високовольтних ліній електропередач – в інтернет-чаті знайомств. А вперше зустрівся з потерпілим за кілька годин до здійснення злочину 5 вересня минулого року.
 Після вбивства вчитель нібито порубав тіло чоловіка у своїй квартирі в районі Берлін-Панков, а потім розкидав його частини по місту. Поліція шукала зниклу людину кілька тижнів, перш ніж у лісі на півночі Берліна були виявлені кістки, а підозрюваного в скоєнні злочину вистежили за допомогою службових собак.
 41-річного педагога знайшли в його будинку з частинами тіла, системами охолодження та ріжучим обладнанням, а також слідами крові жертви, тому заарештували його за підозрою в канібалізмі та навмисному вбивстві.
