Hiába vállalta a legnagyobb holland bank, hogy kiszáll a fosszilis energiaprojektekből, ez kevés volt az Extinction Rebellion radikális klímavédőinek.
Radikális környezetvédők eltorlaszolták Amszterdam egyik forgalmas autópályáját, azt követelve, hogy a legnagyobb holland bank, az ING azonal állítsa le a fosszilis energiaberuházások finanszírozását – jelentette a Reuters szombaton.
Az A10-es autópályát szombat délelőtt több száz tüntető árasztotta el. Az Extinction Rebellion radikális környezetvédő csoport akciójában felnőttek, idősek és gyerekek egyaránt részt vettek, többnyire békésen sétálgattak vagy ücsörögtek az autópályán, zászlókat és molinókat lengetve.
A demonstrációt az amszterdami városi tanács betiltotta ugyan, és az autópálya helyett egy közeli mezőt jelöltek ki a tüntetés helyszínéül, de a klímaaktivisták így is átmásztak a kordonokon, a rendőrök pedig nem akadályozták meg, hogy elfoglalják az autópályát. A közúti hatóságok viszont leállították a forgalmat, hogy elkerüljék a baleseteket.

Az ING nemrég jelentette be, hogy 2040-ig teljesen kiszáll az olaj- és gázlelőhelyek kutatására, valamint kitermelésére irányuló projektek finanszírozásából, továbbá vállalta, hogy két év alatt háromszorosára emeli a megújuló energiaforrásokat támogató hitelezéseit.
A klímaaktivisták azonban mindezt keveslik,és azonnali lépéseket követelnek a banktól. Az ING azonban ezt már irreálisnak, az Extinction Rebellion akcióit pedig elfogadhatatlannak nevezte, mondván a 100%-os átállás a megújulókra nem megy egyik napról a másikra.

A szerintük nem kellően hatékony COP28 klímacsúcs elleni tiltakozásuk jeléül szombaton az Extinction Rebellion mozgalom aktivistái zöldre festették a velencei Nagy Csatorna (Canal Grande) vizét, akárcsak több más olasz folyóét.
A velencei hatóságok gyorsan cselekedtek: mint hétfőn bejelentették, a rendőrség 28 aktivistát megbírságolt – fejenként 1250 euróra – , és a közélet megzavarása miatt vádat emelt ellenük. A Velence számára fontos vízi buszjáratot elővigyázatosságból mintegy egy órára és 20 percre lezárták a Rialto-híd teljes területén.
A mozgalom hangsúlyozta, hogy az ítéletek nem álltak arányban a ténylegesen elkövetett tettekkel. A rendőrségre bevitt személyek között volt egy turista és a szervezet sajtóirodájának négy alkalmazottja, köztük fotósok és videósok.
A turista kivételével az összes személy ellen vádat emeltek, beleértve azokat is, akik csupán szórólapokat osztogattak, illetve fényképeket és videókat készítettek – bírálta az Extinction Rebellion.
Másként látja a helyzetet Luigi Brugnaro, Velence polgármestere: „Meg kellett szakítanunk a tömegközlekedési szolgáltatásokat és a hajózást a Canal Grandén, környezetvédelmi ellenőrzéseket kellett végeznünk a vízen, és ellenőrizni kellett a Rialto-híd nemrég felújított oszlopait. Velence egy törékeny város, amelyet szeretni és tisztelni kell! Elég volt!” – közölte a polgármester.
A rendőrség bejelentette azt is, hogy a város négy évre kitiltott öt aktivistát Velencéből. Az aktivisták közül néhányan a velencei Ca’ Foscari egyetem hallgatói, ők a jövőben nem léphetnek be az egyetemükre.
A környezetvédőket be nem jelentett demonstrációval és veszélyes anyagok folyóba engedésével is vádolják, bár ők állítják, hogy a használt folyadék „nem káros a környezetre, az emberekre és az állatokra, és legfeljebb 48 óra alatt feloldódik”.
Az Extinction Rebellion egy radikális baloldali, antikapitalista szervezet, amelyet az angol antiterrorista rendőrség 2020-ban a neonácikkal és az iszlamistákkal együtt „szélsőséges” kategóriába sorolt.
A mozgalom alapítója, Roger Hallam a holokausztot bagatelizáló 2019-es megjegyzéséről híresült el, amely szerint a zsidók elleni népirtás „csak egy újabb kibaszás az emberiség történelmében. (…) A tény az, hogy a történelem során rendszeresen ölték meg emberek millióit kegyetlen körülmények között.”

Jelentős tüntetést rendezett Berlin központjában a Last Generation klímaaktivista csoport és egy főútvonal lezárásával okozott fennakadást. A tiltakozásra a Straße des 17. Juni kulcsfontosságú főútvonalat választották, amely összeköti Berlin belvárosát a nyugati külvárosokkal, a Győzelmi oszlop és a Brandenburgi kapu között.
A rendőrség becslése szerint mintegy 700 tüntető vett részt a blokádban. A tüntetésen egyes aktivisták a járdán ültek, míg mások álltak. A Last Generation tagjain kívül más aktivista csoportok képviselői is részt vettek a tiltakozásban, különböző táblákkal.
A Last Generation aktivistái Németország-szerte ismertek egyedülálló tiltakozási módszerükről, amelynek során erős ragasztóval rögzítik kezüket a járdára. Ezen a konkrét tüntetésen azonban a rendőrség jelentése szerint nem alkalmaztak ilyen taktikát.

Az 1647 és 1651 között elkészült Rokeby Vénuszt eltávolítják a kiállításról, hogy a restaurátorok megvizsgálhassák. Az aktivisták szerint arra reagáltak, hogy a kormány újabb olajipari engedélyekre vonatkozó terveket hozott nyilvánosságra.
Londonban rongálás miatt letartóztatták a Just Stop Oil két aktivistáját, miután biztonsági kalapácsokkal összetörték a londoni Nemzeti Galériában Diego Velázquez egyik festményének védőüveget.
A két aktivista az 1647 és 1651 között elkészült Rokeby Vénuszt vette célba, a műalkotást utoljára 1914-ben Mary Richardson szüfrazsett rongálta meg azzal, hogy szétvágta. Az egyik elkövető azzal indokolta az akciót, hogy „a nők sem szavazással szerezték meg a szavazati jogot; a tettek ideje jött el, nem a szavaké”.
A londoni rendőrség közölte, hogy legalább 40 aktivistát is őrizetbe vettek, akik a kormányzati negyedben, Whitehallban „lassan meneteltek”, majd az utat szabaddá tették, miután rövid időre leállt a forgalom.
A festményt most eltávolítják a kiállításról, hogy a restaurátorok megvizsgálhassák. A klímaváltozás elleni aktivisták elmondása szerint mai demonstrációjukkal arra reagáltak, hogy a kormány újabb olajkitermelési engedélyek kiadását tervezi az Északi-tengeren. A kabinet azzal indokolja a lépést, hogy csökkentse az „ellenséges külföldi rezsimektől” való függőséget.
Szélsőséges klímavédőknek nem ez az első olyan akciója, hogy múzeumokban kiállított értékes műalkotásokat rongálnak meg, illetve kennek össze festékkel, de akár levessel is.
Londonban a Just Stop Oil legutóbb azzal hívta fel magára a figyelmet, hogy Sondheim színházban megrohamozták a „Les Misérables” (A nyomorultak) musical előadását. A csoport tagjai felmásztak a színpadra, és azt követelték, hogy azonnal állítsák le az olaj- és gázkitermelésre vonatkozó új engedélyek kiadását.

Két aktivista a patinás londoni Royal Albert Hall rendezvényközpont színpadára szaladt be pénteken a BBC Proms teltházas, azaz mintegy hatezer néző előtt tartott megnyitóján. Konfettit szórtak szét, hangszóróba kiabálva követelték a brit kormánytól, hogy ne engedélyezzenek újabb olaj- és gázkitermelési projekteket – közölte a Just Stop Oil a Twitteren.

A közönség soraiból többen nemtetszésüknek adtak hangot. Az incidens behallatszott az esemény élő rádiós közvetítésébe is. Az aktivistákat a helyi szervezők gyorsan eltávolították a színpadról.
A csoport azt közölte: akciójukkal arra akarták felhívni a figyelmet, hogy – meglátásuk szerint – a BBC „csalódást keltő módon” tálalja műsoraiban a klímaválsággal kapcsolatos vészhelyzetet. „Az utóbbi hetekben a BBC-t az a vád érte, hogy kiegyensúlyozatlanul foglalkozik az éghajlatváltozással, és kritika nélkül szajkózza a kormány és az olajvállalatok propagandáját” – fogalmazott a környezetvédő csoport.

Az incidensre reagálva Lucy Frazer kulturális miniszter a Twitteren azt írta: ezeknek az „ökozélótáknak” nem lenne szabad sporteseményeket, esküvőket vagy a Proms rendezvényeit megzavarni. A miniszter azt üzente az aktivistáknak: „hagyják az embereket, hogy jól érezhessék magukat a kedvenc rendezvényeiken, és ne rombolják tovább a saját ügyüket”.

A Just Stop Oil közzétett egy videót nem sokkal később arról, hogy a Channel 4 brit csatorna The Last Leg című beszélgetős show-ja felvételén is megjelentek aktivistái, akik egy láthatósági mellényt adtak át a műsorvezetőnek.
