A NATO parancsnoksága alatt működő koszovói békefenntartó erő, a KFOR 25 katonája, valamint több civil is megsérült az észak-koszovói zavargások során, amikor a koszovói rendőrség és a KFOR csapatai a helyi szerbekkel csaptak össze.
A KFOR közleményében elítélte az agressziót, és azt írta, hogy az olasz és a magyar KFOR-egységek is indokolatlan támadásoknak estek áldozatul, és többen is megsérültek, a robbanások következtében töréseket és égési sérüléseket szenvedtek.
A szerbek tiltakozása pénteken kezdődött, amikor Zvecan, Leposavic és Zubin Potok újonnan megválasztott, albán nemzetiségű polgármesterei megpróbálták elfoglalni hivatalaikat. A helyi szerbek nem akarták beengedni az önkormányzati épületekbe az új polgármestereket, mert nem értenek egyet azzal, hogy a többségében szerbek lakta településeket albánok vezessék, olyan emberek, akiket nem ők választottak meg.
Április 23-án négy észak-koszovói településen tartottak előrehozott polgármester-választást, mert a települések vezetői novemberben egy Szerbia és Koszovó közötti vita miatt lemondtak. A szerbek többsége bojkottálta az előrehozott választást, így a részvételi arány 3,47 százalékos volt, és a leadott szavazatok alapján a településeket a jövőben albán polgármesterek vezetik majd. Sem a helyi szerbek, sem Belgrád nem tartja elfogadhatónak, hogy az ilyen alacsony részvétel és a szerbek bojkottja mellett lezajlott választást Pristina és a nemzetközi közösség is legitimnek nevezte.
Koszovó 2008-ban kiáltotta ki függetlenségét Szerbiától, de Belgrád ezt azóta sem hajlandó elismerni, és továbbra is a saját, déli tartományának tartja a többségében albánok lakta területet.
A helyzet hétvégén is feszült volt, ám mivel munkaszüneti napokról volt szó, nem került sor összecsapásra, hiszen senki nem akarta használni az önkormányzati épületeket. Hétfőn viszont a hivatalba igyekvő új polgármestereket a szerbek ismét megállították. A koszovói rendőrség különleges egységei a helyszínre vonultak, ahol könnygázzal igyekeztek feloszlatni a tömeget. A helyzet eszkalációjának megakadályozására kapcsolódott be a KFOR.

Míg a szerbek szerint a koszovói fél provokálta ki a támadásokat, addig a koszovói elnök szerint Aleksandar Vucic szerb elnök akarja destabilizálni Koszovót. „A szerb illegális struktúrák, amelyek bűnbandákká váltak, megtámadták a koszovói rendőrséget, a KFOR-t és az újságírókat. Azoknak, akik Vucic utasításait hajtják végre, hogy destabilizálják Koszovó északi részét, szembe kell nézniük az igazságszolgáltatással” – írta a közösségi médiában Vjosa Osmani koszovói köztársasági elnök.
Zvecanban a koszovói rendőrség könnygázt vetett be a szerbek ellen, a szerbek pedig könnygázzal és villanógránátokkal támadtak a NATO békefenntartóira.
Aleksandar Vucic szerb államfő a hadsereg főparancsnokaként még pénteken helyezte a legmagasabb fokú készültségbe a szerb hadsereget, ezt hétfő délután ismét megerősítette.
Péntek esti, televízióban is közvetített rendkívüli sajtótájékoztatóján a szerb köztársasági elnök Albin Kurti koszovói miniszterelnököt tette felelőssé a Koszovóban történtekért. Mint mondta: hónapok óta igyekszik felhívni a figyelmet arra, hogy Albin Kurtinak csak egyetlen vágya van, mégpedig az, hogy az egész régióban vérontást provokáljon ki, ezt azonban kevesen akarták meghallani. „Mindezt Albin Kurti szervezte meg azzal a vággyal, hogy nagy összecsapásra kerüljön sor a szerbek és a NATO között, és ő, aki mindezért egyedüliként felelős, moshassa kezeit, és azt mondhassa, hogy semmi köze hozzá” – részletezte Aleksandar Vucic.
A szerb államfő arra kérte a nemzetközi közösséget, az öt nagyhatalom – Németország, Olaszország, Franciaország, az Egyesült Királyság és az Egyesült Államok – vezetőit, hogy próbálják meg „észhez téríteni” Albin Kurtit, mert Szerbia csak békét akar. „De ne csak értelmetlen közleményekkel akarják észhez téríteni, amikor közben megadnak neki mindent, hanem tegyenek lépéseket, mert ha ezt nem teszik, attól félek, hogy mindannyiunk számára késő lesz” – húzta alá.
A helyi szerbektől pedig azt kérte, hogy bármennyire is nehéz, de ne menjenek bele semmilyen összeütközésbe a NATO-val, nem azért, mert bárki is félne, hanem azért, mert a koszovói miniszterelnök éppen ezt akarja elérni. Egyben arról biztosította őket, hogy Belgrád gondot visel rájuk, mindent megtesz a béke megőrzése érdekében, de nem fogja hagyni, hogy üldözzék, elűzzék és gyilkolják a népét.

A legmagasabb fokú harckészültségbe helyezte a szerbiai hadsereget Aleksandar Vucic szerb elnök, a hadsereg főparancsnoka, mert több észak-koszovói településen is zavargások törtek ki.
Az elnök egyúttal azt is elrendelte, hogy a hadsereg egységei induljanak el a szerb-koszovói határ felé, hogy szükség esetén közbe tudjanak lépni.
A szerb közszolgálati televízió (RTS) helyszíni jelentése szerint Zvecanban a rendőrök összecsaptak a helyi szerbekkel, akik meg akarták akadályozni, hogy a településen újonnan megválasztott, albán nemzetiségű polgármestere belépjen az önkormányzat épületébe. A rendőrség könnygázzal és villanógránátokkal oszlatta szét a tömeget. Ezt követően más észak-koszovói településeken is zavargások törtek ki.
Zvecan, Leposavic és Zubin Potok polgármesterei csütörtökön tették le polgármesteri esküjüket azt követően, hogy áprilisban előrehozott polgármester-választást tartottak négy koszovói településen, mert tavaly novemberben lemondtak az ottani, szerb nemzetiségű polgármesterek. A részvételi arány 3,47 százalékos volt, ennek ellenére Pristina és a nemzetközi közösség is érvényesnek nyilvánította a választást, amelyet a helyi szerbek és Belgrád is elfogadhatatlannak nevezett.

A szokatlanul csapadékos időjárás miatt nagyot nőtt a folyók vízszintje. Az áradások miatt többtucat embert evakuálni kellett.
Áradnak a folyók Dél-Szerbiában és Észak-Koszovóban, helyszíni jelentések szerint két embert elsodort az ár, és több mint 80 embert kellett evakuálni.
A szerbiai közszolgálati televízió beszámolója szerint a csapadékos időjárás miatt emelkedik a folyók szintje, és jelentős árhullám tapasztalható az Ibar, a Raska, a Nyugati-Morava és a Lim folyón.
Dél-Szerbiában és Észak-Koszovóban is folyamatosan dolgoznak a terepen a mentőegységek, a tűzoltók és az önkéntesek. Novi Pazarnál két embert sodort el az ár, keresésük még folyik.
A hét végén az esőzések mellett a várható havazás is gondot okozhat a térségben.
Koszovó és Szerbia nem csupán az áradások miatt került a hírekbe az elmúlt hetekben. A két ország között ismét egyre mélyül a konfliktus.

A közlemény szerint szemtanúk megerősítették, hogy egy helyi albán ült abban az autóban, amelyből rálőttek a fiatalokra, akik éppen az ortodox karácsonyi hagyományokat tiszteletben tartva tölgyfaágat vittek magukkal.
A szerb kormány Koszovó-ügyi irodája azt is közölte, hogy az egyik fiút a tenyerén, a másikat pedig a karján érte a lövés. Kórházba szállították őket.
Petar Petkovic, az iroda vezetője a közösségi médiában gyilkossági kísérletnek nevezte az esetet, és azt írta, valaki „véres karácsonyt” akart rendezni a szerbeknek.
Koszovóban hónapok óta feszült a helyzet a helyi szerbek és albánok között, Észak-Koszovóban például csak egy héttel ezelőtt távolították el a barikádokat, amelyeket a helyi szerbek a koszovói kormány intézkedései miatt emeltek.
Koszovó 2008-ban egyoldalúan kikiáltotta függetlenségét Szerbiától, de Belgrád ezt azóta sem ismeri el, és továbbra is saját, déli tartományának tartja a többségében albánok lakta területet. A feszültségek a két nemzetiség között időről időre fellángolnak.

Koszovó lezárta szerdán a legforgalmasabb átkelőt a szerbiai határon, miután a szerb oldalon – a koszovói szerbek akcióinak támogatása jeléül – tüntetők eltorlaszolták az oda vezető utat. A koszovói külügyminisztérium a Facebook-oldalán közölte, hogy azoknak, akik Szerbiában éppen úton vannak Koszovó felé, a merdarei határátkelő helyett másik átkelőt kell keresniük, vagy Észak-Macedónia felől kell belépniük az országba.
December 10. óta már két másik átkelőt is lezártak a szerb–koszovói határon, és már csak három átkelő van nyitva a két ország között. A merdarei határátkelő lezárása gondot okozhat annak a több ezer külföldön dolgozó koszovóinak, aki az ünnepekre haza akar térni látogatóba, ezt most csak kerülő úton teheti meg. Továbbá a merdarei átkelőt teherszállító kamionok is nagy számban használják.

Hétfőn Szerbia fokozott készültségbe helyezte a koszovói határ közelében állomásozó csapatait, és Aleksandar Vucic szerb elnök a Koszovóhoz közeli, dél-szerbiai Raska városba utazott, ahol Milan Mojsilovic vezérkari főnökkel tanácskozott a biztonsági helyzetről. Vucic közölte: elrendelte a hadsereg legmagasabb fokú készültségét, hogy megvédelmezzék népüket (Koszovóban) és megóvják Szerbiát.
A Vucic által felkeresett kaszárnya mintegy öt kilométerre van attól a koszovói határ mentén kialakított ütközőzónától, ahova a szerb biztonsági erők csak a NATO parancsnoksága alatt működő békefenntartó haderő (KFOR) engedélyével léphetnek be. Koszovó 2008-ban egyoldalúan kiáltotta ki függetlenségét, amit Belgrád azóta sem ismer el, és továbbra is saját déli tartományának tekinti a többségében albánok lakta területet. Koszovó északi részén tömbben mintegy ötvenezer szerb él, és körülbelül ötvenezren laknak az ország más részein is szórványban.

A független N1 televízió közben arról számolt be, hogy a határtól két kilométerre nagy hatótávolságú szerb ágyúk jelentek meg, és újabb katonai egységeket is a határra küldtek.
Meg nem erősített beszámolók szerint a koszovói albán rendőrök és a barikádokat emelő szerbek nyitottak tüzet egymásra. A Koszovóban szolgálatot teljesítő KFOR erők szerint az incidensben senki sem sebesülte meg. A válság azt követően éleződött ki, hogy a koszovói hatóságok terrorizmus vádjával őrizetbe vettek egy szerb nemzetiségű koszovói rendőrt. Ezt követően a szerbek barikádokat emeltek és elzártak több utat Koszovóban.
Koszovó és Szerbia határán tavaly is voltak hasonló incidensek. Amikor a koszovói kormány elrendelte, hogy szerb rendszámú autókkal nem lehet belépni a 2008-ban függetlenné vált egykori szerbiai tartomány területére, a szerb hadsereg megerősítette jelenlétét a határon és harci gépek is elrepültek a térség fölött. A mostani válság miatt elhalasztották a szerb többségű észak-koszovói körzetekben december 18-ára kiírt helyhatósági választás is.

A belgrádi kormány pénteken eldöntötte, hogy szerb katonákat és rendőröket szeretne küldeni Koszovóba a helyzet kezelése érdekében. Erre Szerbiának lehetősége van annak a határozatnak köszönhetően, amelyet az ENSZ Biztonsági Tanácsa adott ki szerb-koszovói háború lezárását követően 1999-ben, ám Belgrád korábban sosem kérte ezt. Néhány száz koszovói szerb tüntetett kedden az észak-koszovói Zubin Potokban azért, mert a helyi választási bizottság tagjai rendőri kísérettel törtek be a helyi önkormányzat épületébe. A koszovói rendőrség szerint teljesen jogos lépésről volt szó, az önkormányzati választásokat előkészítő választási bizottság tagjai kértek rendőri kíséretet – számolt be az MTI.
A koszovói rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint lövések és robbanások hallatszottak kedden, amikor az országos választási bizottság tagjai a koszovói szerb kisebbség által lakott településekre látogattak, sérültekről azonban nem érkeztek hírek.
A koszovói média beszámolói szerint Zubin Potokban a tiltakozók benyomultak a választási bizottság irodáiba, és ott randalíroztak, de Kosovska Mitrovica északi részén és Leposavicban is utcára vonultak az emberek.
A szerb sajtó tájékoztatása szerint viszont a szerb kisebbség vezette választási irodákat éppen a rendőrök verték szét.
Petar Petkovic, a szerb kormány Koszovó-ügyi irodájának a vezetője nyugalomra szólította fel a koszovói szerb kisebbséget, ugyanakkor megjegyezte, hogy a rendőri jelenlét az erődemonstráció legdurvább formája, és csak Pristina újabb provokációjának tekinthető.
A koszovói vezetés egyoldalú lépésekkel akar törvényellenes és jogellenes lépéseket tenni, hogy destabilizálja a térséget – magyarázta. A politikus a közösségi médiában azt írta, „folytatódik (Albin) Kurti terrorja”.
Az eseményekre a Tiranában tartózkodó Aleksandar Vucic szerb köztársasági elnök is reagált. Azt üzente: a koszovói fél megsértette a kilenc éve aláírt brüsszeli megállapodást, amikor állig felfegyverzett rendőröket küldött az észak-koszovói településekre. Koszovó minden nap újabbnál újabb provokációval áll elő, és azt keresi, hogyan tudná felborítani a békét és a stabilitást.
Koszovó északi részén azért tartanak előrehozott önkormányzati választást december 18-án, mert az ott élő szerb kisebbség tagjai november első hetében úgy döntöttek, hogy kivonulnak a koszovói állam intézményeiből, tiltakozásul amiatt, hogy a pristinai hatóságok elrendelték: a Szerbia által kiadott rendszámtáblákat koszovóiakra kell cserélni.
Csaknem 600 szerb lépett ki a koszovói rendőrség kötelékéből, miután a pristinai belügyminiszter felfüggesztette az egyik helyi szerb rendőrségi vezetőt. Az ugyanis bejelentette, hogy a rendőrség szerb tagjai nem hajtják végre az utasítást, amely szerint előbb figyelmeztetniük, majd büntetniük is kell az autósokat, akik nem cserélik le gépkocsijuk rendszámtábláját.
A szerb nemzetiségű rendőrök mellett bírák, ügyészek és hivatalnokok is felfüggesztették a munkát. A szerbek közölték, hogy mindaddig nem térnek vissza az intézményekbe, amíg Koszovó nem teljesíti a 2013-ban brüsszeli közvetítéssel aláírt megállapodásban foglaltakat, valamint amíg nem alakítja meg a koszovói szerb önkormányzatok közösségét.

Koszovó 2008-ban egyoldalúan kiáltotta ki függetlenségét Szerbiától, amit Belgrád azóta sem ismer el, és továbbra is saját, déli tartományának tartja a többségében albánok lakta területet.

Kémkedés gyanújával őrizetbe vettek egy orosz újságírót a koszovó határon – jelentette be szombaton a koszovói belügyminiszter.
Xhelal Sevcla közleményben tájékoztatott, hogy a Daria Aszlamova nevű újságíróról „több országban bebizonyosodott, hogy az orosz hadsereg és hírszerzés számára végez kémtevékenységet”.
A Komszomolszkaja Pravda című orosz lap később Aszlamovára hivatkozva azt közölte, hogy az alkalmazásukban álló újságíró azóta kiszabadult, és jelenleg a szerbiai Raska városában tartózkodik.
Aszlamova és a lap nem tértek ki a hatóságok által említett kémkedés gyanújára.

A múlt héten ismét fellángolt a feszültség Koszovó és Szerbia között. Moszkva a héten támogatásáról biztosította Belgrádot a koszovói konfliktusban, amely azt követően lángolt fel, hogy a koszovói kormány szombaton bejelentette: augusztus 1-jétől azok, akik szerbiai dokumentumokkal akarnak belépni Koszovóba, kilépési és belépési igazolást kapnak az átkelőknél, valamint a szerb rendszámtáblájukat is le kell cserélniük a belépésnél ideiglenes koszovói táblára.
A hétvégén a határövezetben kialakult szembenállást követően Pristina amerikai felhívásra úgy döntött, hogy egy hónappal elhalasztja az intézkedés bevezetését.
Koszovó lakosságának mintegy 90 százaléka albán, körülbelül öt százaléka szerb nemzetiségű. Koszovó az Európai Unióhoz és az Egyesült Államokhoz hasonlóan elítélte Ukrajna orosz invázióját és szankciókat is vezetett be Oroszország ellen.
