Тисячі людей на чолі з президентом Куби Мігелем Діас-Канелем пройшли одним із знакових бульварів Гавани, вимагаючи припинення війни між Ізраїлем і палестинською терористичною організацією ХАМАС та запевняючи палестинців у своїй підтримці.
Президента, одягненого в традиційний чорно-білий палестинський шарф, супроводжували високопосадовці Куби, зокрема прем’єр-міністр Мануель Марреро та міністр закордонних справ Бруно Родрігес. Під час маршу, до якого долучилися палестинські студенти-медики, демонстранти пройшли перед посольством США.
Молодь тримала плакати з написом «Вільна Палестина», фотографії дітей, поранених під час обстрілів, кубинські та палестинські прапори.
Ізраїль і ХАМАС за посередництва Катару та Єгипту домовилися про припинення вогню в середу вранці.
7 жовтня бойовики ХАМАСу здійснили раптовий напад на Ізраїль. Уторгнувшись у південну частину країни, вони вбили близько 1200 осіб, поранилили близько трьох тисяч, а також узяли в заручники близько 240 людей. У відповідь Ізраїль розпочав війну проти терористичної організації та ввів повну блокаду Сектору Гази.
За даними влади Гази, унаслідок війни загинуло 13 300 мирних жителів у Секторі, близько двох третин із 2,3 мільйона людей, які там проживають, стали вимушеними переселенцями.
Це вже другий раз з початку війни, коли лідери Куби беруть участь у марші солідарності. Минулого тижня один із найвідоміших пам’ятників столиці країни підсвітили кольорами палестинського прапора.

Двоє пожежників і літній чоловік загинули внаслідок обвалу житлового будинку в старій частині Гавани, столиці Куби, повідомило міністерство внутрішніх справ країни.
Причини обвалу будівлі, яка перебувала в доволі поганому стані, поки що невідомі. За даними влади, у триповерховому помешканні проживало 13 сімей, загалом 54 людини.
За даними МВС, двоє пожежників віком 40 і 23 років прибули на місце події після обвалу, але стався ще один, унаслідок якого вони загинули. Під завалами знайшли тіло й третьої жертви – 79-річного чоловіка.
На Кубі багато будинків та іншої інфраструктури перебувають у незадовільному стані, оскільки протягом десятиліть їх або не обслуговували зовсім, або лише частково.
Нещодавно в центрі Гавани чоловік загинув у власній квартирі унаслідок падіння стелі.

На Кубі арештували 17 осіб, які були причетні до мережі, що вербувала молодих чоловіків воювати в російській армії проти України. Про це повідомило Reuters у п’ятницю, 8 вересня.

Куба розкрила злочинну мережу торгівців людьми, які змушували кубинців воювати на боці Росії у війні в Україні. Про це Міністерство закордонних справ Куби, пише Reuters.
Зазначається, що кубинська влада працює над «нейтралізацією та ліквідацією» мережі.
У заяві міністерства закордонних справ Куби було наведено небагато деталей, але зазначено, що мережа торгівлі людьми діяла як у острівній державі Карибського басейну, за тисячі миль від Москви, так і в Росії.
«Міністерство внутрішніх справ… працює над нейтралізацією та демонтажем мережі торгівлі людьми, яка діє з Росії, щоб включити кубинських громадян, які проживають там, і навіть деяких з Куби, до військових сил, які беруть участь у військових операціях в Україні», – йдеться в заяві уряду Куби.
Російський уряд не прокоментував ці звинувачення.
Наприкінці травня російська газета в Рязані повідомила, що кілька громадяни Куби підписали контракти зі збройними силами Росії та були відправлені в Україну в обмін на російське громадянство.
Уряд Куби заявив, що вже почав судове переслідування справ, у яких її громадян примушували до участі в бойових діях в Україні.

На Кубі почалися мирні демонстрації, учасники вимагали свободи та більшого добробуту. Проти акції виступили правоохоронці, сили безпеки «жорстоко відповіли на мирні демонстрації, побили громадян за вимоги прав людини», повідомляє CNN.
Інцидент стався в південно-східному кубинському місті Кайманера, неподалік від в’язниці Гуантанамо. Кілька десятків учасників демонстрації пройшли маршем до урядових будівель, де представники груп спеціального призначення затримали кількох із них. Про кількість затриманих офіційної інформації немає, активістам відомо щонайменше про п’ятьох людей.
Посольство США в Гавані засудило дії влади Куби. У дипломатичному відомстві заявили, що силовики «жорстоко відповіли на мирні демонстрації в місті Кайманера, б’ючи громадян, які вимагали прав людини». Крім того, у заяві засудили те, що «Куба перекрила Інтернет через страх перед свободою слова» (частково, щоб запобігти поширенню фотографій і відео насильницьких дій, частково, щоб запобігти поширенню інформації про місце проведення протестів).
Організація Netblocks, яка стежить за кібербезпекою та відстежує активність в Інтернеті, також підтвердила, що уряд Куби вимкнув Інтернет на всьому острові, як тільки поширилася інформація про протести. Однак, за словами кубинських проурядових блогерів, Інтернет заблокували через відеозаписи демонстрацій. Водночас у минулому вже були випадки, що кубинський уряд вимикав Інтернет, який забезпечує держава, на кілька днів під час протестів.

У четвер вдалося взяти під контроль і запобігти подальшому поширенню пожежі, яка триває в західній провінції Пінар-дель-Ріо на Кубі з понеділка і знищила вже понад 1400 гектарів території, повідомляє управління лісового господарства Куби.
Пожежа почалася в сосновому лісі поблизу невеликого містечка Мантуя, що за 260 кілометрів на південний захід від Гавани. Зупинити поширення вогню ускладнювали висока вологість і швидкий вітер, повідомив заступник очільника управління Енді Валле. Він охарактеризував ситуацію як «складну» і «безпрецедентну». В провінції Пінар-дель-Ріо цього року було зареєстровано вже понад 60 пожеж. Цей регіон – друга найбільш лісиста територія острова.
Протягом останніх тижнів Куба постраждала від кількох пожеж, особливо на сході, в регіоні Пінарес-де-Майярі, де, за останніми оцінками, вигоріло близько 5 тисяч гектарів лісистої території. Вогонь палав із лютого, і приборкати його вдалося лише нещодавно.
На Кубі період із 1 січня до 31 травня називають критичним, через постійну суху погоду без дощів. Минулого року в країні зафіксували 284 лісові пожежі, вогонь знищив близько 1800 гектарів лісових угідь. За даними управління лісового господарства, 90 відсотків пожеж виникли внаслідок необережних або навмисних підпалів.

Ураган третьої категорії Ян, який вирував на Кубі, залишив усю країну з населенням понад 11 мільйонів жителів без світла.

Ураган, який впав на західну частину острова як потужний шторм, вивів з ладу енергомережу та зруйнував деякі з найважливіших тютюнових ферм країни. Спочатку було знеструмлено близько 1 мільйона домогосподарств у західних провінціях Куби, але згодом уся енергомережа країни зазнала колапсу.
Згідно з заявою Кубинського електричного союзу, фахівці працювали протягом ночі, щоб поступово відновити обслуговування 11 мільйонів жителів країни, однак станом на ранок середи острів залишався без світла.
Зазначається також, що значних жертв вдалося уникнути завдяки тому, що десятки тисяч людей були евакуйовані з західної частини острова ще до прибуття Яна, який спричинив повені, пошкодження будинків і повалення дерев.
Національний центр спостереження за ураганами США повідомив, що Куба постраждала від «значних наслідків вітру та шторму», коли ураган обрушився зі стійкою швидкістю вітру 205 км/год.
Очікувалося, що Ян стане ще сильнішим над теплою Мексиканською затокою, досягнувши максимальної швидкості вітру 209 км/год, наближаючись до південно-західного узбережжя Флориди, звідки було наказано евакуюватися 2,5 мільйона людей.

На Кубі в ніч на неділю приблизно в 30 милях на схід від Гавани в ущелину впав автобус із 45 кубинськими вчителями. Водій втратив керування, внаслідок чого транспортний засіб з’їхав із автобану.
Як повідомляє Big news network, внаслідок інциденту загинули щонайменше 10 людей. 25 пасажирів дістали поранення, троє із них — серйозні.
Найтяжче поранені отримали медичну допомогу у провінції Маябек, де сталася аварія, а також у столиці Куби.
Учителі поверталися з Гавани додому. У столиці вони працювали тимчасово разом із сотнями інших через брак місцевих викладачів.
