Bár a bírósági iratok nem említik, az amerikai autópálya-felügyelet, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) helyszínelői a baleset idején megállapították, hogy a vezetőtámogató rendszer működött az ütközés során.
A Tesla megtévesztő módon kommunikál az általuk gyártott autók önvezetéséről, az Autopilot nevű funkció a neve ellenére igazából csupán 2-es szintű önvezetésnek tekinthető, ami csak részben automatizálja a jármű kulcsfontosságú funkcióit.
2-es szintű önvezető autónak számít minden olyan jármű, amiben sávtartó asszisztens és adaptív tempomat található, azonban a sofőrnek vezetés közben folyamatosan a kormányon kell tartania a kezét, hogy vészhelyzet esetén be tudjon avatkozni.
Az elengedett kormánnyal való közlekedéshez már legalább 3-as szintű önvezetésre van szükség: a Mercedes EQS modellje nemrég meg is kapta az engedélyt, hogy a tulajdonosok elengedett kormánnyal közlekedjenek vele a német autópályákon, de maximum 60 km/h sebességgel – írta a lap.

A napvilágot látott információk szerint a három gyerek holttestét egy kelet-los angelesi apartmanban találták meg.
A New York Post arról számolt be, hogy három gyermek holttestére bukkantak Los Angeles keleti felében egy lakásban hétfőn. A rendőrség azonnal megkezdte a nyomozást, de egyelőre keveset tudni az ügyről.
A jelentés szerint gyanúsak a körülmények, többen is nyomoznak a három gyermek halála körül. Az azonban már biztos, hogy a helyszínen talált fiatalkorúakat már nem lehetett megmenteni.
A tragikus hírről többek között a Los Angeles Times is beszámolt a Los Angeles megyei seriffhivatalra hivatkozva, mely szintén részt vesz a nyomozásban.
A hatóságok egyelőre nem árulták el, hogy milyen módon vesztették életüket a gyerekek és eleinte az elhunytak pontos korát és személyazonosságukat sem hozták nyilvánosságra. Ez a legtöbb esetben amiatt van így, mert még mielőtt bármi hasonló információt is közölnének a nyilvánossággal, megpróbálják felvenni a kapcsolatot a hozzátartozókkal.
A Los Angeles Times arról ír, hogy a bejelentés alapján két gyermekhez kértek segítséget, akik nem lélegeztek. A kiérkező egységek a halószobában összesen három gyereket találtak, és egyikőjük sem lélegzett.
Ezt követően a szakemberek megkezdték az újraélesztést, de a mentősök erőfeszítései ellenére sem lehetett megmenteni a gyerekeket. A Delta légitársaság járata fél 12-kor hagyta el Los Angeles repülőterét, majd a levegőbe emelkedés után egy utas megpróbált a bezárt pilótafülkébe betörni. Célja a Nashville-be tartó repülőgép eltérítése lehetett – írja a Hirado.hu az M1 tudósítására hivatkozva.
A férfit azonban hamar megállították a Delta Airlines légiutaskísérői néhány utas segítségével. A támadót előbb leteperték, majd megkötözték, a férfi eközben végig a repülőgép megállítását követelte.
Az incidens miatt a repülőgép kényszerleszállást hajtott végre Albuquerque-ben, Új-Mexikó államban. A fennforgást okozó férfit a repülőtéri hatóság letartóztatta a landolás után, majd átadták a Szövetségi Nyomozó Irodának (FBI).
Az FBI nyomozást indított az ügyben, a Delta légitársaság pedig háláját fejezte ki a bátor és gyors reagálású utasoknak és a repülő légiutaskísérőinek, hogy megakadályozták a férfit a tervében.

Eduardo Moreno azért futott túl a vonattal a vágányon, mert úgy hitte, a
hatóságok nem mondanak igazat, és biztosan nem azért vezényelték a hajót a Los
Angeles-i kikötőbe, hogy oda küldhessék át a kórházak a nem fertőzött
pácienseket.
Moreno végül nem tudott nekihajtani a hajónak, attól mintegy
230 méterre állt meg, több kerítést is átszakítva. Az ámokfutás során senki sem
sérült meg, Moreno ellen viszont vádat emeltek, amiért tönkretette a vonatot –
közölte az ügyészség. Az FBI-nak adott vallomásában Moreno azt mondta: fel
akarta nyitni az emberek szemét. A Port of Los Angeles szóvivője, Phillip
Sanfield úgy nyilatkozott, hogy a vonat igazából nem jutott túl közel a
hajóhoz.
