Újabb kegyetlen támadást hajtottak végre Nigériában, amely során legkevesebb 50 helyi lakossal végeztek. Nigériában nem ritkák az ehhez hasonló vérengzések, legutóbb két nap leforgása alatt a fegyveresek legkevesebb 50 embert lőttek agyon. Plateau államában hajtották végre a kegyetlen támadást, ami után 24 órás kijárási tilalmat rendeltek el, hogy ezzel is megpróbálják megvédeni a helyi gazdákat, illetve hajtóvadászatot indítottak a támadók ellen.
Egyelőre egyik fegyveres csoport sem vállalta a felelősséget a támadásokért, az elkövetett gyilkosságokért. Kevesebb mint egy hónapon belül ez már a második ilyen támadás volt az államban, amikor is decemberben több mint 140 emberrel végeztek. A legutóbbi támadást hétfőn és kedden hajtották végre, megrohamozva a körzetben lévő falvakat, mialatt felgyújtották a házakat.
További halálos áldozatai is lehetnek a támadásoknak, mert sokan eltűntek, vagy súlyosan megsérültek. Az ABC News az írja, az erőszak sokakat feldühített Nigériában, miközben az ország vezetője, Bola Tinubura magánlátogatásra utazott Franciaországba. Az előzetes vizsgálatok szerint az épület több lakásában illegális bányában dolgozó munkások éltek, és az általuk ott tárolt robbanóeszközök okozták a tragédiát.
A helyi kormányzat átmeneti szállásokon helyezi el azokat, akik a robbanás miatt fedél nélkül maradtak – áll Makinde közleményében.
Helyszíni beszámolók szerint több szomszédos épület összeomlott a robbanás nyomán, melynek a hangját az egész városban lehetett hallani.

Legkevesebb 113 ember vesztette életét a Nigéria központi részén található Plaeau állam területén található falvakban szombat este óta elkövetett fegyveres támadásokban – közölték hétfőn helyi hatóságok.
„A szombaton kezdődött ellenségeskedések hétfő reggel is folytatódtak” – ismertette a felekezeti és etnikai villongások által sújtott Bokkos régió elöljárója, Kassah. „Legkevesebb 113 holttestet találtak eddig” – tette hozzá. A hadsereg ugyanakkor mindössze tizenhat halottról számolt be.
Kassah szerint több mint háromszáz sebesültet szállítottak Bokkos, Jos és Barkin Ladi települések kórházaiba. Mint mondta, a helyi köznyelvben banditákként ismert fegyveres csoportok legkevesebb húsz települést támadtak meg szombat óta.

A vízi járművek hibás működése, a túlzsúfoltság vagy a rossz időjárás miatt gyakran fordulnak elő hasonló hajóbalesetek az nyugat-afrikai országban.
Bola Tinubu nigériai elnök még szeptemberben rendelt el vizsgálatot a balesetek okainak felderítésére és a további tragédiák elkerülésére, valamint indítványozta a hajózási törvények felülvizsgálatát.
