У п’ятницю, 13 травня, помер 73-річний президент Об’єднаних Арабських Еміратів шейх Халіфа бен Заїд Аль Нахайян.
Про це повідомляє The Emirates News Agency WAM.
Причина смерті президента ОАЕ не розголошується.
У Міністерстві у справах президента заявили, що від сьогодні в ОАЕ триватиме сорокаденний державний траур, будуть приспущені прапори.
На три дні призупинять роботу всі міністерства й відомства, федеральні, місцеві й приватні організації.
За даними Arab News, шейх Халіфа став другим президентом ОАЕ в листопаді 2004 року, змінивши свого батька на посаді 16-го правителя Абу-Дабі.

У вівторок, 5 травня, у місті Шарджі Об’єднаних Арабських Еміратів загорівся 48-поверховий хмарочос, – повідомив дубайський англомовний портал новин Khaleej Times.
Згідно з кадрами, опублікованими в соціальних мережах, палала вся будівля. Полум’яні уламки падали на землю, внаслідок чого було пошкоджено кілька припаркованих поряд автомобілів.
Десятки пожежників намагалися загасити пожежу вежі, використовуючи десяток пожежних машин та безпілотників. Повідомляється, що хмарочос згорів ущент.
Дубайський портал Gulf News повідомляє про 9 постраждалих, які отримали легкі травми. Люди із 48-поверхового хмарочосу та навколишніх будівель були евакуйовані.
За даними Gulf News, у хмарочосі, збудованому у 2006 році, на поверхах розташовані квартири. Мешканці повідомили, що пожежа спалахнула о 21 годині за місцевим часом. Оскільки це сталось посеред Рамадану (мусульманського місяця посту), сім’ї збираються на спільну трапезу після заходу сонця.
Причину виникнення вогню поки що встановлюють.
Останніми роками в ОАЕ відбулося кілька пожеж на хмарочосах.
