Az erőszakhullámért és a magas bűnözési arányokért mindenekelőtt a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) és a Pandilla 18 nevű bandákat teszik felelőssé. A szomszédos Salvador márciusban rendkívüli állapotot vezetett be az egész országban a bűnszervezetek elleni küzdelemért.

A lett kormány jóváhagyta a Belügyminisztérium azon javaslatait, hogy az Oroszországi Föderációban megkezdődött mozgósítással összefüggésben számos, az orosz határhoz közeli régióban hirdessenek ki rendkívüli helyzetet, és döntöttek az egyik határátkelő bezárásáról is.
A rendkívüli helyzetet szeptember 28. és december 27. között hirdették meg. A kormány a pededzei határátkelő lezárásáról is döntött, és arra utasította az Állami Határőrséget, hogy erősítse meg az ellenőrzést a lett-orosz határon, valamint ellenőrizze a Lettországba érkező orosz állampolgárokat.
Szeptember 19. óta 57 orosz állampolgártól tagadták meg a belépést Lettországba, és 2475 orosz állampolgár lépett be legálisan.

New York kormányzója rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett a gyermekbénulás miatt, mivel egyre több bizonyíték merül fel arra, hogy a vírus terjed az államban.
Az egészségügyi tisztviselők szerint New York Cityben és négy szomszédos megyében a szennyvízminták pozitívak a poliovírusra, amely bénulást okozhat − írta meg a BBC.
Bár eddig csak egy esetet erősítettek meg, közel egy évtizede nem volt már erre példa az országban.
A gyermekbénulást az 1955-ben megkezdett védőoltásokkal nagyrészt sikerült felszámolni az Egyesült Államokban, amelyet 1979-re gyermekbénulás-mentesnek nyilvánították.
New York-i tisztviselők szerint azonban az állam egyes részein túl alacsony az oltási arány. A pénteki sürgősségi nyilatkozat célja a lankadó immunizálási arányok növelése.
A gyermekbénulás ellen nincs gyógymód, de a vakcinával megelőzhető. A főként gyermekeket érintő vírus jellemzően izomgyengeséget és bénulást, a legsúlyosabb esetekben pedig maradandó fogyatékosságot és halált okoz.
New York állam egészségügyi minisztériuma közölte, hogy a jelenlegi 79 százalékos átlagról 90 százalék fölé kívánja emelni az oltási arányt.
A gyermekbénulással kapcsolatban egyszerűen nem kockáztathatunk. Ha Ön vagy gyermeke oltatlan vagy nem naprakész az oltásokkal, a bénulásos megbetegedés kockázata valós − mondta Mary Bassett egészségügyi biztos egy nyilatkozatában.
Hozzátette, hogy minden egyes igazolt paralitikus gyermekbénulásos esetre több száz másik fertőzött is juthat.
Az Egyesült Államokban és az Egyesült Királyságban is inaktivált gyermekbénulás elleni vakcinát használnak a rutin gyermekkori program részeként. Az Egyesült Államok járványügyi hivatala (CDC) oltási adatai szerint a kisgyermekek 93 százaléka kapott legalább három adag gyermekbénulás elleni oltást.
A hatóságok azután kezdték el ellenőrizni az államban a poliovírus miatt a szennyvizeket, hogy júliusban a New York Citytől északra fekvő Rockland megyében egy be nem oltott férfi megfertőződött a vírussal − ez volt az első feljegyzett eset 2013 óta −, és bénulást szenvedett.

Szerda reggel a Srí Lanka-iak továbbra is özönlöttek az elnöki palotába. Hosszú sorban várakoztak a rezidencia előtt, hogy beléphessenek, közülük sokan tömegközlekedéssel érkeztek a fővárosba. A tiltakozók addig tartják elfoglalva a hivatalos épületeket, amíg a legfelsőbb vezetők nem távoznak. Szerdán a tüntetők a miniszterelnök irodáját is próbálták megrohamozni, de a rendőrök könnygázzal oszlatták fel őket.
Srí Lanka gazdasága teljesen összeomlott, kifogytak a devizatartalékból, és nem képesek alapvető árukat behozni az országba, egy ponton Vlagyimir Putyint kérték, hogy segítsen az üzemanyagbeszerzésben.
A 22 milliós ország az 1948-as függetlenné válása óta nem élt át a mostanihoz hasonló válságot, ami élelmiszer- és gyógyszerhiányban, illetve a száguldó inflációban is megnyilvánul.
Srí Lankán ezért hónapok óta rendszeressé váltak a tüntetések, múlt szombaton ezrek rohamozták meg az elnök rezidenciáját, ahol elfoglalták a belső termeket, és a medencébe is beugráltak. Az emberek úsznak a medencében, megtekintik a festményeket, az ágyakon hevernek. Egy alkalommal felgyújtották a miniszterelnök lakását.

A litván szejm kedden megszavazta az ukrajnai háború miatt bevezetett rendkívüli állapot meghosszabbítását szeptember 15-ig.
A hírt a Jevropejszka pravda közölte a Delfire hivatkozva. A döntést a szejm 80 képviselője támogatta, nyolcan nemmel szavaztak, további 28-an pedig tartózkodtak.
A döntés ellenzői kijelentették, nem értik a rendkívüli állapot bevezetésének célszerűségét Litvánia egész területén, szerintük elég csak a határ menti területekre kiterjeszteni. A határozat kezdeményezői azonban kijelentették, hogy az orosz veszély nem tűnt el, hiszen Oroszorszáág továbbra is folytatja a háborús bűnök elkövetését Ukrajnában.
A korábbiakhoz hasonlóan Litvániában is betiltják az orosz és fehérorosz tévéműsorok közvetítését, a háború támogatását célzó tüntetéseket, és egyéb korlátozások is lesznek.
A rendkívüli állapotot február 24-én hirdették ki, s június 29-ig volt érvényes.

Salvador parlamentje a Twitteren közölte, miszerint harminc nappal meghosszabbították a rendkívüli állapotot, hogy a hatóságok sikeresen folytathassák a harcot a bűnbandák ellen. A rendkívüli állapot meghosszabbítását Nayib Bukele salvadori elnök kérte. A közép-amerikai ország parlamentjében a szavazásra szerdán került sor, s 84 képviselőjéből 67 támogatta a lépést.
A 6,6 millió lakosú Salvadorban március 25-e és 27-e között 87 gyilkosság történt. Ennek nyomán a kormány március 27-én rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett harminc napra, amelyet egyszer már ugyanennyivel meghosszabbítottak.
Gustavo Villatoro igazságügyi miniszter elmondta, hogy eddig több mint 35 ezer embert fogtak el.
További 16 ezer már börtönben van, ami azt jelenti, hogy a bűnbandák 70 ezer fősre becsült „tagságának” már csak 27 százaléka van szabadlábon. Salvadorban két banda – a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) és a Barrio 18 – ellen indítottak háborút.
Villatoro azt mondta, addig folytatják a harcot, amíg szükséges, és amíg az állampolgárok kérik. A kormány célja, hogy eltörölje a bűnbandákat a föld felszínéről Salvadorban.
A rendkívüli állapot lehetővé teszi, hogy a hatóságok letartóztatási parancs nélkül is őrizetbe vegyék a gyanúsítottakat. Emellett egy sor alapjogot felfüggesztettek, köztük a gyülekezési jogot.
A kormány ezenfelül a korábbi kilencről negyvenöt év szabadságvesztésre szigorította a bűnszervezetben elkövetett bűncselekmények büntetési tételét, a bandák nyilatkozatait közlő újságírókat pedig tizenöt évig terjedő börtön fenyegeti. Jogvédők aggályaikat fejezték ki az intézkedések miatt, és jogsértések elkövetésével vádolták a rendvédelmi szerveket.
Néhány évvel korábban Salvadorban volt a legmagasabb a gyilkossági ráta a világon. Hivatalos adatok szerint a 100 ezer lakosra jutó gyilkosságok száma 2015-ben 103 volt, tavaly pedig már csak 18. Az El Faro latin-amerikai hírportál és az amerikai kormány azt állítja: a csökkenés részben annak köszönhető, hogy Nayib Bukele elnök titkos megállapodást kötött a bűnbandákkal. A kormány cáfolja az értesülést.

A város főpolgármestere szerint a tüntetők száma már meghaladja a rendőrökét is, a demonstráció felett pedig teljesen elvesztették az irányítást. Jim Watson hozzátette: szerint a tüntetés veszélyezteti a lakosok biztonságát.
A „Szabadság konvoja” tüntetés résztvevői azután vonultak Ottawa utcáira, hogy a kormány minden kamionosnak előírta a koronavírus elleni oltást. A fuvarozók a főváros központját bénították le úgy, hogy járműveikkel az út közepére parkoltak, és sátrakat vertek fel. A sátrak és kamionok között azonban képtelenség rendet tartani: folyamatos a dudálás, valamint a tűzijátékozás is.
„Vissza kell szereznünk a városunkat” – jelentette ki Jim Watson, azonban arról konkrétumot nem mondott, hogy mindezt hogyan tervezi. A rendőrség vasárnap csupán annyit jelentett be, hogy erőteljesebben fognak fellépni, nem csak a kamionosok, hanem az őket segítők ellen is. A szükségállapot bevezetése további lehetőségeket ad a városvezetők kezébe, azonban az egyelőre nem világos, hogy mit és hogyan fognak bevetni a kamionosok ellen.
A konvoj hosszú jelenléte pedig aggasztó: míg a kamionosok hosszú tüntetésre készülnek, a város lakói erőszaktól és zaklatástól tartanak, a rendőrség pedig aggasztónak nevezte, hogy egyre több szélsőjobboldalit vonzott magához a demonstráció. A hatóság közleménye szerint vasárnap már hatvan eljárás volt folyamatban a tüntetés miatt, köztük nyomozás zajlik lopás és gyűlöletbűncselekmény miatt is.
