Több természeti csapás sújtotta a közép-ázsiai országot a héten. Mindkét esetben több ember sérült meg, házakat és utakat is megrongált az időjárás, a gátszakadás pedig számos települést és mezőgazdasági területet öntött el.
A heves esőzések és erős szél miatt péntek hajnalban átszakadt egy gát Sirdaryo tartományban. Ahonnan huszonkét településről, hetvenezer embert kellett biztonságos helyre menekíteniük az üzbég és kazah hatóságoknak.
A taskenti kormány beszámolója szerint helyi hatóságoknak délutánra sikerült a folyó vízét egy közeli, a Jizzax tartományban lévő Arsanay-tóba irányítani.
A RIA-Novosztyi orosz hírügynökség internetes oldalán azt írta, hogy nincs halálos áldozata a gátszakadásnak, de ötvenhatan kórházba kerültek.
Számos települést és mezőgazdasági területet elöntött az ár, utak váltak járhatatlanná. „Dél-Kazahsztánban négy faluból 5400 embert menekítettek ki, sokan önállóan távoztak a területről az éjszaka folyamán” – közölte a terület kormányzója.
Sirdaryo víztározóját 2017-ben adták át, mintegy 922 millió köbméter víz befogadására képes.

Április 28-án Buxoro tartományban az orkán erejű szélben egy ember meghalt, harminc pedig megsérült. A széllökések ereje meghaladta az óránkénti 144 kilométeres sebességet. Három körzetben, mintegy száznegyvenezer háztartásban nem volt áram- és gázszolgáltatás. Házak, középületek és utak rongálódtak meg.

Megemelkedett a folyók vízszintje és árvízveszélyt rendeltek el az Egyesült
Államok középső és délkeleti államai jó részében. Közben a napok óta tartó
esőzések miatt többfelé gondot okoznak a földcsuszamlások: Kentucky államban
egy etil-alkoholt szállító vonat borult fel és nagy lángokkal égett – hangzott
el az M1 Híradójában.
Óriási lángok csaptak fel az egyesült államokbeli Kentucky keleti részén,
miután egy etanolt szállító vonat kisiklott és vagonjai felborultak. A
balesetet egy sziklaomlás okozta, a több mint egy hétig tartó heves erőzések
miatt ugyanis több helyen is megcsúszott a föld. A vonat a sínek mentén
haladó folyóba zuhant, de így is órákon keresztül lángoltak az etil-alkoholt
szállító tartálykocsik. A szerelvényen ketten voltak a baleset pillanatában. A
két embernek sikerült kiszabadulnia a roncsok közül, a tűzoltóság csónakkal
mentette ki őket a folyóból.
Kentucky államban máshol is földcsuszamlások okoztak gondokat. A törmelék több
helyen is utakat zárt el. A heves esőzések nyomán nem csak a meglazult talajjal
kellett megküzdeniük a hatóságoknak: a folyók szintjét is folyamatosan
figyelniük kellett, mert sokfelé árvíz fenyegeti a házakat.
Kentucky államban az esőzések mellett a tél is megmutatja valódi erejét: a
meteorológusok szerint a hétvégén még nagyobb hidegre kell számítaniuk a
helyieknek, tartósan mínusz tíz fok alá süllyed a hőmérséklet.
