Mintha csak egy családi vígjáték jelenete lenne: egy éhes elefánt megjelenik a bolt előtt, majd egyszerűen besétál, végignézi a polcokat, és kiválasztja a kedvenc harapnivalóit. Ez történt Thaiföldön, a Khao Yai Nemzeti Park közelében, ahol Plai Biang Lek, a helyiek körében már jól ismert harmincéves ormányos, nem először kutatott magának finomságokat, de most először válogatott a polcok között – írta az AP News.
A bolt tulajdonosa, Kamploy Kakaew nem ijedt meg, sőt, inkább megmosolyogta a helyzetet. Elmondása szerint az elefánt kilenc csomag édes rizspogácsát, egy szendvicset és némi szárított banánt majszolt el.
„Nem bántott senkit, csak éhes volt. És nagyon udvariasan viselkedett” – mesélte nevetve.
Plai Biang Lek végül egy csomag nassolnivalóval az ormányában távozott, és bár némi sárfoltot hagyott maga után a bolt padlóján és plafonján, semmi komoly kárt nem okozott.
A nemzeti park önkéntesei szerint az elefánt régi ismerős, aki korábban már több ház konyhájába is belesett.
Az elefántok Thaiföldön egyre gyakrabban kerülnek közel az emberekhez, mivel élőhelyeik zsugorodnak, és az élelemért gyakran kell elhagyniuk az erdőt. 2024-re az országban mintegy 4000 vadon élő elefántot tartottak nyilván.

Szerdán lövöldözés volt a thaiföldi–kambodzsai határon, a kambodzsai hadsereg közlése szerint egy kambodzsai katona életét vesztette.
A hadsereg szóvivője, Mao Phalla azt mondta, hogy az első lövést thaiföldi katonák adták le a határ túloldalán őrjáratozó kambodzsai katonákra – számol be róla az MTI.
A thaiföldi hadsereg azt közölte, a kambodzsai határőrök a két ország közötti vita tárgyát képező területre léptek, a thai katonák pedig csupán el akarták őket onnan küldeni, ám „egy félreértés miatt” a kambodzsai katonák tüzet nyitottak, amelyet a thaiföldiek viszonoztak.
A tűzharc a tájékoztatás szerint mintegy tíz percen át tartott.
Phumtham Vecsajacsai thai védelmi miniszter azt mondta, a helyzetet sikerült rendezni. Kiemelte, hogy egyik félnek sem állt szándékában a lövöldözés.
A thaiföldi sajtó úgy tudja, hogy az incidensre az ország északkeleti részén lévő, Kambodzsával és Laosszal is szomszédos Csongbok körzeténél került sor.
Bangkok és Phnompen között régóta húzódik vita a határok kijelöléséről, erőszakcselekményekre azonban legutóbb 2011-ben került sor, az UNESCO világörökségi listáján is szerelő, mindkét ország által magának követelt, körülbelül 1000 éves Preah Vihear hindu templom mellett.
Az ügyet Kambodzsa a Nemzetközi Bíróság (ICJ) elé vitte, amely két évvel később megerősítette azt az 1962-es határozatot, amely Phnompennek ítélte a templomot és a körülötte lévő területet.

Szombaton légi baleset történt a Hua Hin repülőtér közelében, amikor egy rendőrségi repülőgép tesztrepülés közben, ejtőernyős kiképzésre való felkészülés során lezuhant. Az incidens több halálos áldozatot követelt – számolt be a Liner.hu.
A gép a parttól mintegy 100 méterre zuhant a tengerbe, majd kettétört. A Thai Királyi Rendőrség által kiadott információk szerint hat rendőr volt a fedélzeten a baleset idején, akik mind életüket vesztették.
A helyszínen öt holttestet találtak, míg a hatodik, kritikus állapotban volt rendőrt ugyan kórházba tudták szállítani, azóta ő is életét vesztette. Egyelőre nem sikerült megállapítani, mi okozhatta a tragédiát, az ezzel kapcsolatos nyomozás már zajlik a háttérben. Erős, az amerikai földtani intézet mérése szerint 7,7-es földrengés rázta meg Mianmar középső térségét péntek délelőtt. A rengést Thaiföldön is érezni lehetett, Bangkokban és a mianmari Jangonban számos épületből kimenekültek az emberek.
A rengés középpontja az amerikai intézet szerint 10 kilométer mélyen volt, a mianmari Mandalaj várostól 17 kilométerre. A 7,7-es erősségű földrengés igen erősnek számít, évente ilyen átlagosan 18 történik világszerte.
Áldozatokról egyelőre nem érkezett jelentés.
Thaiföldön Paetongtarn Sinavatra miniszterelnök rendkívüli megbeszélést hívott össze a rengés következményeinek megvitatására.
A bangkoki rendőrség közlése szerint egy épülőfélben lévő magas épület összeomlott a fővárosban, de egyelőre áldozatokról nem tudni.
A helyi The Sun azt írja, hogy 43 munkás tűnt el az összedőlt, eredetileg 30 emeletesre tervezett épület építkezésén.
A közösségi médiában terjedő videófelvételeken látható, amint a többemeletes épület – tetején egy daruval – leomlik, óriási porfelhőbe borítva a környéket.
Egy szemtanú, a Chiang Maiban élő Duangjai az AFP-nek elmondta: „Hallottam a rengést, éppen aludtam. Pizsamában rohantam ki az épületből.”
Mentőcsapatok dolgoznak a kimenekítésen a füldrengés után
Több beszámoló szerint a rengés erőssége miatt még az épületek tetején lévő úszómedencékből is kiömlött a víz – írja a The Guardian cikke.
A házban aludtam, és amint tudtam, pizsamában kifutottam az épületből – mondta egy turista az észak-thaiföldi Chiang Mai településen az AFP-nek.

Egy pánikba esett elefánt halálra sebezett egy spanyol nőt, miközben az az állatot fürdette egy thaiföldi elefántközpontban – tájékoztatott a helyi rendőrség.
A 22 éves Blanca Ojanguren García az elefántot mosta a Koh Yao Elefántgondozó Központban múlt pénteken, amikor az állat megölte. Szakértők azt mondták a Clarín című spanyol lapnak, hogy az elefánt stresszes lehetett, amikor a természetes élőhelyén kívül kellett turistákkal érintkeznie – írja az Origo a BBC-re hivatkozva.

Meghalt egy brit turista varázsgomba fogyasztása után Thaiföldön múlt héten pénteken. A 25 éves férfi és a barátnője állítólag egy Chiang Mai-i üzletben vásárolták a hallucinogén szert, aminek fogyasztása után nem sokkal a férfi meghalt.
Az orvosok miután megérkeztek a luxusüdülőbe, ahol a pár megszállt, kikérdezték az áldozat élettársát, aki elismerte, hogy a terméket a közeli, The Glory Days nevű kannabisz boltból vették – írja a Daily Mail.
A rendőrök ma razziát tartottak az üzletben, és letartóztatták a tulajdonost. Állítólag 7 kiló varázsgombát találtak a raktárban.
A turista egy nevezetességnél fotózott barátnőjével, majd elmentek egy boltba és varázsgombát vásároltak, amit a szállodai szobájukban fogyasztottak el. Az áldozat 40 perccel később összeesett, és meghalt – magyarázta Worapong Khamluea rendőr vezérőrnagy.
Kollégáink négy gyanúsítottat tartóztattak le, köztük a tulajdonost és három alkalmazottat – tette hozzá. Mint kiderült, beküldtek egy magát vevőnek kiadó tisztet az üzletbe, akinek szintén adtak el az eladók egy kis zacskó gombát. A tulajdonos minimum két év, maximum tíz év börtönre számíthat, valamint pénzbírságra.
Thaiföldön 2022-ben legalizálták a kannabiszt, ami miatt tele vannak a gyógyszertárak szerte az országban. A nem túlságosan megfontolt törvényhozás a mentális betegségek, a bűnözés és az egyéb kábítószerek boltokon keresztüli értékesítésének növekedését eredményezte.

Az umphangi mentőcsapat közleménye szerint a robbanóanyag egy szabadtéri színpad lábánál landolt, ahol a fesztiválozók táncoltak. A sebesültek egy részét a közeli kórházba vitték. Számos jelentés szerint a detonációt egy rögtönzött robbanószerkezet okozta.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra miniszterelnök X-en közzétett bejegyzésében részvétét fejezte ki a robbantásban elhunytak és sebesültek hozzátartozóinak. Elmondta, hogy utasította a rendőrséget és a biztonsági szerveket, hogy vizsgálják ki a robbanás okát, valamint segítsenek az érintetteken.
A Bangkok Post szerint idén 8-9000 ember vett részt az egyhetes fesztiválon, a támadás az esemény utolsó előtti éjszakáján történt.

A daru éppen előregyártott betonelemeket szerelt egy magasított autópályán, amikor november 29-én kora reggel a Samut Sakhon tartományban lévő Rama II út mentén összedőlt. A helyi média szerint 39 munkás volt szolgálatban a baleset idején. Közülük négyen meghaltak, 10-en pedig megsérültek és kórházba kerültek.
Naris Niramaiwong, Samut Sakhon kormányzója a balesetet követően ellenőrizte a helyszínt. Elmondta: „Felgyorsítjuk a helyszín megtisztítását, hogy a Rama II Roadon haladéktalanul helyreálljon a forgalom”.
A helyszínen tartózkodó művezető elmondta, hogy több munkást maga alá temettek a leomló betonelemek, míg mások a daru alatt rekedtek. A Samut Sakhon-i rendőrség szerint mind a befelé, mind a kifelé vezető sávban komoly torlódások alakultak ki. Három daru érkezését várták délutánra, hogy elhárítsák az akadályt.
A Rama II út hírhedt a „soha véget nem érő” építkezésekről.
A terület számos építési baleset helyszíne, amelyek gyakran halálos áldozatokkal járnak.
