Agyonlőttek két újságírót Haitin, akik az erőszakról tudósítottak a főváros, Port-au-Prince egyik bandák kezére jutott nyomornegyedéből, holttesteiket pedig felgyújtották – közölte kedden a helyi Független Újságírók Szövetsége, hozzátéve, hogy idén ez már a második ilyen eset.
A tájékoztatás szerint Tayson Latigue és Frantzsen Charles egy hétfős újságírói csoporttal volt, amikor tűz alá vették őket vasárnap a Cité Soleil nevű kerületben, ahol éppen az erőszakhullám súlyosbodását – többek között egy 17 éves lány nemrég történt meggyilkolásának körülményeit – vizsgálták.
Dieudonne St-Cyr, az újságírószövetség egyik tagja a Metropole Haiti helyi rádiónak elmondta, hogy az újságírók két rivális banda kereszttüzébe kerültek. Hozzátette, hogy társaik sértetlenül el tudtak menekülni, de a két áldozat holttestét nem tudták visszaszerezni.
Az újságírószövetség utálatos, hitvány cselekedetnek nyilvánította a történteket, és követelte, hogy a kormány javítson az egyre romló biztonsági helyzeten az egyre gyakoribbá váló gyilkosságok és emberrablások közepette. Leszögezte egyben, hogy az újságírók csak a munkájukat végezték, és nem követtek el semmiféle bűncselekményt.
A szervezet hangsúlyozta, hogy „a gyilkosságok újabb bizonyítékai annak, hogy az állam képtelen megvédeni az életeket és a magántulajdont, ami nem más, mint az emberi jogok megsértése”.
Ariel Henry miniszterelnök szintén elítélte a „barbár” gyilkosságokat, amelyek mélységesen megdöbbentették – fogalmazott.
Januárban két újságírót öltek meg bandák, akik a déli – szintén problémás – Laboule negyedből tudósítottak.
Haitin valóságos bandaháborúk dúlnak, számos térség pedig már kikerült a központi kormány ellenőrzése alól. Az erőszakhullám emberek százainak életét követelte, és ezrek voltak kénytelen elmenekülni otthonaikból. A bandák azt követően erősödtek meg, hogy Jovenel Moise elnök merénylet áldozata lett 2021 júliusában.

A szaúdi monarchia kritikusaként ismert és az Egyesült Államokban élt Hasogdzsit 2018-ban Szaúd-Arábia isztambuli főkonzulátusán gyilkolták meg, tisztázatlan körülmények között. A szaúdi trónörökös korábban visszautasította hogy ő rendelte volna el Hasogdzsi meggyilkolását, de a politikai felelősséget utólag magára vállalta.
A jogvédő szervezetek a látogatás kapcsán azzal vádolják Emmanuel Macront, hogy legitimálja az általuk gyilkosnak nevezett szaúdi vezetőt. A francia elnöki hivatal a vádakra reagálva közleményt adott ki, mely szerint a francia elnök a megbeszélésen fel fogja vetni az emberi jogok helyzetét Szaúd-Arábiában, és Hasogdzsi gyilkosainak elítélését fogja követelni.
A közlemény szerint a francia-szaúdi csúcstalálkozóra szükség van, mert sürgős kezelést igényelnek a nemzetközi piacokon elszabadult energiaárak, az orosz-ukrán háború miatt a közel-keleti térséget is fenyegető élelmezési válság, valamint az iráni nukleáris programmal kapcsolatos aggodalmak is.

Jesús Ramírez mexikói kormányszóvivő a Twitteren közölte, hogy de la Cruz felesége és lánya is megsebesült a merényletben – írja az MTI. Francisco Cabeza de Vaca, Tamaulipas mexikói tagállam kormányzója szerint az orvosok a lány életének megmentésén fáradoznak.
A Milenio című lap arról számolt be, hogy a támadók motorokról nyitottak tüzet a család autójára. A helyi sajtó egyébként úgy tudja, hogy újságírói tevékenysége mellett de la Cruz a Polgárok Mozgalma (Movimiento Ciudadano) nevű párt szóvivője is volt.
De la Cruz volt idén a tizedik újságíró, akit megöltek Mexikóban. A Riporterek Határok Nélkül nevű nemzetközi jogvédő szervezet szerint a latin-amerikai ország az egyik legveszélyesebb hely a világon a sajtóban dolgozók számára. Az országban a legtöbb gyilkosságot a kábítószer-kereskedelemmel kapcsolatban követik el, újságírókat pedig azért vesznek célba, mert beszámolnak ezekről az ügyekről, de a politikai korrupció feltárása is életveszélybe sodorhatja őket. Civil szervezetek szerint az újságírók gyilkosainak több mint 90 százaléka büntetlen marad.

Az orosz–ukrán háború következtében 32 ukrán újságíró vesztette életét. A hírt a Tömegtájékoztatási Intézet, illetve Olekszandr Tkacsenko kulturális és információs politikai miniszter közölte.
Az intézet pontosította, hogy 8 újságíró közvetlenül szakmai feladatai teljesítése közben halt meg, 24 pedig mint a harci cselekmények közben vesztette életét.

Afganisztán déli tartományában, Kandahárban tálibok meggyilkolták Danish Siddiqui fotóriportert. A Reuters indiai származású haditudósítója igazi veteránnak számított, az elmúlt több mint tíz év során az afganisztáni háborún kívül Irakból, illetve a 2015-ös földrengések idején Nepálból, valamint a mianmari rohingja válságról és a hongkongi tüntetésekről is tudósított.
A tudósító az afgán biztonsági erők és a tálibok közötti harcokat követte az országban. Az összecsapások azután kaptak új lendületet, hogy az USA korábbi döntése nyomán májusban elkezdődött a NATO-katonák kivonulása, aminek következtében felgyorsult az iszlamisták térhódítása: a Long War Journal szakportál szerint jelenleg 223 körzetet már a tálibok irányítanak. Velük szemben az afgán kormányerők 73 helyszínt uralnak, míg 111 körzetben továbbra is dúlnak a harcok.
A most meghalt újságírót egyébként már kellett egyszer ápolni, amikor becsapódott egy bomba a közelében.
Az afgán biztonsági erők egyik tisztje a Reutersnek arról számolt be, hogy az újságíró, illetve egy katonájuk vesztette életét a tálibok kereszttüzében. A hírügynökség ugyanakkor megjegyzi, a névtelenül nyilatkozó forráson túl nincs hiteles információjuk arról, munkatársukat hogyan érte a halál.

Biszmilláh Ádel Ajmakot – egy rádióállomás főszerkesztője volt, emellett civil aktivistaként is tevékenykedett – az afganisztáni Gor tartomány központjában lőtték agyon. Az áldozat a múlt héten arról számolt be, hogy megtámadták és halálos fenyegetéseket kapott az egyik közösségi oldalon. Egyelőre egyetlen szervezet sem jelentkezett az újságíró meggyilkolásának elkövetőjeként.
Ő az első újságíró, aki az új évben gyilkosság áldozatává vált Afganisztánban, de az elmúlt két hónapban már a hatodik meggyilkolt újságíró az országban.
Mindannyian célzott támadásban haltak meg. A Riporterek Határok Nélkül nevű szakmai szervezet szerint Afganisztán – Mexikó, Irak, India és Pakisztán mellett – a világ egyik legveszélyesebb országa az újságírók számára.

A legtöbb újságírót idén is Mexikóban gyilkolták meg. Mexikót Afganisztán és a Fülöp-szigetek követi – állapította meg a Bizottság az Újságírók Védelmére (CPJ) nevű, New York-i székhelyű jogvédő szervezet szerdán közölt éves jelentésében.
A világon 30 újságírót gyilkoltak meg december 15-éig, közülük 21-et munkájával összefüggésben. Tavaly 26-ot, és közülük 10-et munkája miatt. A CPJ még vizsgál 15 esetet, amelyben újságírót öltek, hogy köze volt-e a halálának ahhoz, amit csinált.
Mexikóban legalább négy újságíró volt célzott gyilkosság áldozata 2020-ban, egyet akkor öltek meg, amikor fotózott egy bűnügyi helyszínen.
A CPJ elismerte, hogy más jogvédő szervezetek eltérő számokat ismernek, mégis Mexikó a legveszélyesebb ország az újságírók számára a nyugati féltekén. Az országban számos drogkereskedő és egyéb bűnbanda garázdálkodik, és nagyon elterjedt a hivatali korrupció.
Afganisztánban legkevesebb négy újságírót gyilkoltak meg az idén, a Fülöp-szigeteken pedig hármat.
Szintén a CPJ készített jelentést arról nemrég, hogy soha olyan sok újságíró nem volt börtönben a világon, mint idén, és hozzátette: ennek az lehet az oka, hogy számos autokrata kormány próbálta erőteljesen korlátozni a koronavírus-járványról és a tiltakozó megmozdulásokról szóló tudósításokat.
December 1-jén legalább 274 újságíró volt börtönben, a legtöbb azóta, hogy a CPJ a ’90-es évek elején elkezdte gyűjteni az erre vonatkozó adatokat. Tavaly december 1-jén ez a szám 250 volt. A legtöbb újságírót Kínában, Törökországban, Egyiptomban és Szaúd-Arábiában vették őrizetbe a szervezet adatai szerint ebben az évben.

Huszonöt év fegyházban letöltendő szabadságvesztésre súlyosbította szerdán a pozsonyi legfelsőbb bíróság Miroslav Marcek büntetését, akit Ján Kuciak szlovák oknyomozó újságíró és barátnője közel három évvel ezelőtti, nagy botrányt és politikai viharokat is kiváltó meggyilkolása és egy további gyilkosság miatt áprilisban 23 évre ítéltek.
Marcek ügye azután került a legfelsőbb bírósághoz, hogy az ellene a bazini székhelyű különleges bíróság által hozott ítéletet megfellebbezte az ügyész, arra hivatkozva, hogy nem teljesültek a büntetés csökkentéséhez szükséges feltételek. A fellebbezést benyújtó különleges ügyész eredetileg is 25 éves szabadságvesztés kiszabását kérte.
A nagy botrányt és belpolitikai viharokat is kiváltó, két évvel ezelőtti újságíró-gyilkosság bűnvádi perének főtárgyalása idén januárban kezdődött. Az ügy öt vádlottja közül elsőként a vád koronatanújával, Andruskó Zoltánnal szemben született ítélet, őt – különálló perben, már egy hónappal korábban – vádalku keretében ítéltek 15 év letöltendő szabadságvesztésre, amiért kifizette a gyilkoságért járó összeget a gyilkosságot végrehajtónak. A gyilkosságok elkövetőjének, Miroslav Marceknek az ügyét – miután januárban bevallotta a gyilkosságok elkövetését – külön per keretében tárgyalták tovább, és elsőfokon áprilisban ítélték el.
Az ügy fennmaradó három szereplőjével szemben szeptemberben született ítélet. Tomás Szabót – aki a vádirat szerint segédkezett Marceknek az újságíró és barátnője meggyilkolásánál – 25 év börtönbüntetésre ítélték. Az újságíró meggyilkolásának megrendelésével vádolt Marián Kocner nagyvállalkozót és a gyilkosság megrendelésében közvetítéssel vádolt Alena Zsuzsovát ugyanakkor – elégséges bizonyíték hiánya miatt – felmentette a bazini székhelyű különleges bíróság.
Ján Kuciak szlovák oknyomozó újságírót és barátnőjét, Martina Kusnírovát 2018. február végén találta holtan a rendőrség a galántai járásban fekvő Nagymácsédon lévő családi házukban. A gyilkosság az országban közfelháborodást keltett, és sohasem látott méretű tüntetéssorozat követte, ami belpolitikai válsághoz vezetett, a kormány több tagja távozott, és lemondott Robert Fico kormányfő is.
