Az Egyesült Államok légicsapásokat hajtottak végre a Szíria északi részén lévő Aleppó tartományban. A műveletek az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet egyik magas rangú vezetőjét célozták, aki a támadás során vélhetően életét vesztette – jelentette be hétfőn a Twitteren az USA hadseregének közel-keleti és közép-ázsiai műveleteit irányító Középső Parancsnoksága (Centcom).
A támadásokban két fegyveres is meghalt – áll a közleményben, melyben hozzátették azt is, hogy a légicsapásoknak nincsenek civil áldozatai.
A bejelentést tevő Emberi Jogok Szíriai Megfigyelőközpontja (OSDH) nevű civil szervezet úgy tudja, a légicsapásokat a tartomány keleti részén fekvő Dzsarábulusz térségében hajtották végre.
Az amerikai csapatok támogatását élvező Szíriai Demokratikus Erők (SDF) nevű kurd-arab milíciaszövetség szintén azt közölte, hogy a támadások Dzsarábuluszt érték, az akciót pedig a Kobaninál található támaszpontról indították.
Az OSDH vezetője, Rámi Abder-Rahmán a sajtónak azt mondta, a műveletek a dzsihadisták Abu al-Bará néven ismert parancsnokát célozták, aki csaknem egy hónapja rejtőzött el a törökbarát milíciák ellenőrizte területen.
A térségben aktív, fehérsisakosok néven ismert, nem hivatalos szíriai polgári védelem (SCD) azt közölte, hogy a légitámadások mellett az amerikai erők szárazföldön is csapást hajtottak végre.

A missouri tornádó szerda hajnalban St. Louistól 80 kilométerre, Bollinger megye Glen Allen városában csapott le – közölte Eric Olson, az állami autópálya-rendőrség parancsnoka.
Az óránként több mint 200 kilométeres sebességű széllökésekkel kísért tornádó fákat csavart ki a földből, és több ember otthonát tüntette el a föld színéről
Az utóbbi időben több pusztító vihar is sújtotta az Egyesült Államokat.
A közelmúltban kialakult viharok következtében legalább 63 ember vesztette életét főként az ország déli és középnyugati részén.

Csak az elmúlt héten nyolc államban alakultak ki pusztító erejű tornádók.
A forgószelek az ország középső részén a legkomolyabb károkat Arkansas államban okozták, ahol a jelentések szerint mintegy 2600 épületen söpörtek végig. Wynne-ben négyen vesztették életüket, és számos ház összeomlott.
Tornádó csapott le március végén az állam fővárosára, Little Rockra is, ahol egy ember vesztette életét és mintegy huszonöten megsérültek, közülük többen válságos állapotban vannak.
A viharok a legtöbb halálos áldozatot Tennessee államban követelték, ahol kilencen vesztették életüket.
