Több ezer háztartás maradt áram nélkül vasárnap az ausztráliai Queensland államban pusztító heves viharok miatt. Az ország több térségéből bozóttüzeket is jelentettek.
Az állam kezében lévő Energex villamosművek azt közölte, 57 ezer felhasználó maradt áram nélkül és Queensland-szerte 120 villamosvezeték meghibásodását jelentették be.
A The Courier-Mail című helyi lap úgy tudja, az államban található Logan, illetve Brisbane néhány része hétfőn is áram nélkül maradhat, az Energex szóvivője pedig azt tanácsolta a lakosoknak, hogy ha lehetséges, használjanak generátorokat.
További heves viharokra és árvizekre figyelmeztettek a Queenslanddel szomszédos Új-Dél-Wales állam hatóságai is.
A szárazság fokozódásáért és a viharok szokatlan erejéért az El Nino időjárási jelenség a felelős, mely hét év után alakult ki újra a csendes-óceáni térségben.
Mindeközben Ausztrália több államában, köztük Nyugat-Ausztráliában, az Északi Területeken, valamint Queensland keleti részén hőségriadót rendeltek el, az országos meteorológiai szolgálat pedig azt közölte, hogy a hőmérő higanyszála akár 45 Celsius-fokra is felkúszhat.
Nyugat-Ausztrália államban több mint 20 bozóttűzről is tudni, az egyik az állam katasztrófavédelme szerint a mintegy 5000 lakosú Pemberton mellett tombol.
A helyi tűzoltóság azt közölte, a helyzet a szárazság miatt a nap folyamán várhatóan rosszabbra fordul, és hozzátette, hogy az utóbbi öt napban már több mint 1000 tűzoltót mozgósítottak az oltásra.

Több mint háromszáz bajba jutott embert mentettek ki a helyi mentőcsapatok az éjszaka folyamán Ausztrália északkeleti részén, ahol áradások pusztítanak – közölték hétfőn az ausztrál hatóságok.
A cairnsi repülőteret hétfőn be kellett zárni az áradás miatt, és a hatóságok attól tartanak, hogy a városban 160 ezer ember maradhat ivóvíz nélkül.
Miközben Cairns környékén csillapodik az eső, a közeli Port Douglas, Daintree, Cooktown, Wujal Wujal és Hope Vale térségében az előrejelzések heves esőzésre figyelmeztettek.
Katarina Carroll, Queensland állam rendőrfőnöke rendkívül súlyosnak nevezte az áradásokat, miközben arról számolt be, hogy vasárnap éjszaka nagy nehézségek közepette mentettek ki mintegy háromszáz embert. Hozzátette: a természeti katasztrófának halálos áldozata nem volt, és súlyos sérülés sem történt.
A kimentett lakosokat helikopterrel szállították el a Wujal Wujal őslakos közösségből, ahol az éjszakai órákban kilenc felnőtt és egy hétéves gyermek egy kórház tetején talált menedéket az áradás elől.
A múlt heti trópusi ciklonnal érkezett heves esőzések közösségeket vágtak el a külvilágtól, utakat és vasútvonalakat árasztottak el, hétfőn mintegy 14 ezer háztartás és üzleti vállalkozás maradt áram nélkül.

Vasárnap a Melbourne délkeleti részén fekvő Mount Martha közelében vízbe zuhant egy volt katonai repülőgép, miután egy másik repülővel ütközött a levegőben. A gép fedélzetén két ember tartózkodott, akik után jelenleg is kutatnak a hatóságok.
Két repülőgép ütközött össze Ausztráliában, a Mount Marthától mintegy 12 kilométerre nyugatra – írja a The Age.
Az ausztrál hatóságok szerint az egyik repülőgép a Port Phillip-öbölbe zuhant, míg a másik gép biztonságosan le tudott szállni az Essendon repülőtéren. Mindkét repülő fedélzetén két ember tartózkodott.
A rendőrség közölte, hogy mentőszolgálatokat hívtak a Mount Martha-i Esplanade-hoz, miután bejelentést kaptak az incidensről. Három mentőhelikopterrel kutatták át a helyszínt.
A vízbe zuhant repülőgépen tartózkodó két ember után jelenleg is folyik a kutatás. A hatóságok úgy tervezték, hogy vasárnap estig folytatják a két ember keresését.

A tengerpartot a délután egy óra körül történt támadás után elözönlötték a sürgősségi mentők. A helyi médiának nyilatkozó mentők azt mondták, hogy a nő sérülései „elképesztően súlyosak” és „életveszélyesek”.

A október 31-én készült videón látható, ahogy a tűz örvénye port kavart és az útjába kerülő területet lángba borítja.
„Ebben a helyzetben abszolút nem tehettünk mást, mint hátradőltünk és néztünk”– írta a felvétel készítője, Hayes Cook. Elmondta, hogy napok óta próbálták a területeiket megvédeni a tűztől, így szívszorító volt látni, hogy az elmúlt napok kemény munkája ilyen gyorsan kárba veszett.
Október végén súlyos erdőtüzek pusztítottak az ország keleti részén lévő Queenslandben is, a tűz egy halálos áldozatot követelt – jelentették be helyi hatóságok.
Paul McVeigh, az állam Western Downs nevű kerületének vezetője kiemelte, hogy a lángok olykor 15 méter magasra is felcsapnak, a széljárás gyors váltakozása pedig tovább nehezíti az oltást. Az államban 8000 hektár földet pusztítottak el a lángok, és körülbelül 70 bozóttűzről lehetett tudni, és több mint 85 építményt emésztettek fel a lángok.

Ausztráliában megbírságoltak pénteken két férfit, mert megrongáltak egy emlékművet, amelyen a Gázai övezetben túszul ejtett izraeliek képei láthatóak Sydney egyik részén, a Bondi strandon.
Az új-dél-walesi rendőrség azt közölte, hogy csütörtök délután „két férfi részt vett egy művészeti installáción a Bondi Beachen, és eltávolított több plakátot”. Egy 25 éves és egy 40 éves férfit 500 ausztrál dollár (mintegy 120 ezer forint) pénzbírsággal sújtottak a „sértő magatartás” miatt.
A helyi média felvételeket sugárzott arról, amint a két férfi leszedte a Gázában túszul ejtett izraelieket ábrázoló plakátokat, amelyek a strand előterén húzódó emlékmű részét képezték.
Az installáció 230 „Elrabolva” feliratú plakátból, 230 kék-fehér strandtörölközőből és ugyanennyi pár szandálból állt.
„Teljesen elfogadhatatlan és ellentétes az ausztrál értékekkel, hogy megrongálják és megpróbálják megsemmisíteni ezt az izraeli túszokat ábrázoló kiállítást” – jelentette ki Alex Ryvchin, az Ausztrál Zsidóság Végrehajtó Tanácsának társvezetője az X közösségi médiaplatformon.
Az izraeli hadsereg szerint legalább 240 embert tartanak túszként fogva Gázában, és további 40 embert még mindig eltűntként tartanak nyilván a támadások óta.

A kisfiú egy fogyatékkal élő gyermekek számára fenntartott iskolában tartózkodott, amikor egy lift összenyomta, melynek következtében a helyszínen életét vesztette.
A Newsweek értesülései szerint az ausztráliai Sydney városának Wahroonga nevű külvárosban található St. Lucy’s iskolát ideiglenesen bezárták, miután helyi idő szerint szerdán délután 2 óra környékén megtaláltak egy 10 éves fiút, akit összenyomott egy lift, melynek következtében életét vesztette.
Amint észlelték a gyermeket a lift alá szorulva, azonnal értesítették a mentőket és a rendőrséget, ám hiába értek ki a helyszínre pillanatok alatt, már nem tudták megmenteni a kisfiú életét. A különböző állapotú, többek között súlyos értelmi fogyatékos, autista és érzékszervi sérült gyermekek számára fenntartott intézmény a tragédia nyomán további értesítésig zárva marad.
Az új-dél-walesi rendőrség közleményében megosztotta: „A Kuring-Gai Rendőrségi Területi Parancsnoksághoz tartozó rendőrök kiérkezve egy 10 éves fiút találtak a lift alá szorulva. A tűzoltóság és mentőszolgálat megpróbálta kiszabadítani a fiút, aki azonban a helyszínen meghalt.”
Nem sokkal később az iskola is megerősítette a tragédiát: „Az iskola további értesítésig zárva marad a diákok előtt. Kérjük a magánélet tiszteletben tartását és teret diákjainknak, családjainknak és személyzetünknek, hogy gyászolhassanak ebben a nehéz időszakban, miközben gyönyörű diákunkra emlékezünk.”

A magas hőmérséklet és az erős szelek miatt a hatóságok szerint a helyzet az elkövetkezendő napokban várhatóan nem fordul jobbra.
A meteorológiai előrejelzésekben csupán a hét végére várják az enyhülést. A Queenslanddel határos Új-Dél-Walesből szintén tüzeket jelentettek. Az új-dél-wales-i tűzoltóság az X közösségi oldalon arról tájékoztatott, hogy több tüzet villámlás okozott.
Ausztráliában, ahol a novembertől kezdődő időszakban gyakoriak az erdőtüzek, az El Nino időjárási jelenség következtében a szokásosnál nagyobb szárazságot tapasztalnak.
A kontinensország 2019-ben és 2020-ban úgynevezett “fekete nyarat” élt át, a szokatlanul erős hőhullám 33 ember életét követelte, az ekkor pusztító tüzek pedig mintegy 24 millió hektár földet tettek tönkre.

Már halálos áldozata is van az Ausztrália keleti részén lévő Queenslandben napok óta tomboló erdőtüzeknek – jelentették be helyi hatóságok szerdán.
Az érintett önkormányzatok felszólították a térségben élőket, hogy keressenek biztonságos helyet. Már több mint 200-an elhagyták otthonukat.
Paul McVeigh, az állam Western Downs nevű kerületének vezetője azt mondta, hogy a menekülőket ideiglenes szállásokon helyezték el. Mint hozzátette, egyelőre nem tudni, pontosan hány otthont érintett a tűz, de sokan szinte mindenüket elvesztették. Öt ház biztosan porig égett, a halálos áldozatra egy vidéki farmon bukkantak az állam délkeleti részében.
McVeigh elmondta, hogy nagyon sok tűzoltó kimerült, mert egyszerre több tüzet is oltani kell. Kiemelte, hogy a lángok olykor 15 méter magasra is felcsapnak, a széljárás gyors váltakozása pedig tovább nehezíti az oltást.
Amint arról korábban beszámoltunk, a Queenslandben kialakult bozóttüzek miatt már hétfőn vészhelyzeti figyelmeztetést adtak ki, több terület lakosait pedig azonnali evakuálásra utasították.
Az államban 8000 hektár földet pusztítottak már el a lángok, és jelenleg is 53 erdőtűzről tudni. A magas hőmérséklet és az erős szelek miatt a hatóságok szerint a helyzet az elkövetkezendő napokban várhatóan nem fordul jobbra. A meteorológiai előrejelzésekben csupán a hét végére várják az enyhülést.
