Hétfőn azonnali egyoldalú tűzszünetet hirdetett Etiópia kormánya, miután a Tigré-régióban egy évtizede nem látott éhínséget hoztak a térségben zajló harcok – írja az NPR.
A nemzetközi szemlélők azt remélik a tűzszünettől, hogy véget vet a Tigré-régióban zajló katonai műveleteknek és segít az éhező lakosságnak a szükséges ellátmányhoz való hozzájutásban.
A döntésre rövidesen azelőtt került sor, hogy választások indulnak Etiópiában, melyen a Nobel-békedíjas Abij Ahmed miniszterelnök ismét megméretteti magát.
A konfliktus a Tigré-térségben azután robbant ki, hogy Etiópia korábbi legerősebb politikai mozgalma, a TPLF katonai bázisokat támadott meg a régióban. A harcok során számos emberjogi kihágást tett mindkét fél, illetve több százezren maradtak élelem nélkül.

„Tegnap napközben úton voltak, elveszítettük velük a kapcsolatot. Ma reggel a járművüket üresen találták, holttestüket pedig néhány méterre az autótól. Határozottan elítéljük a kollégáink elleni támadást. Maria, Johannes és Tedros a Tigrea-ban segítettek az embereknek, és felfoghatatlan, hogy életükkel kellette fizetniük ezért a munkáért” – áll a szervezet közleményében.

2Etiópiában, a konfliktusok által sújtott Tigré tartományban nagyjából 33 ezer gyereket fenyeget az éhhalál – írja a BBC az ENSZ Gyermekalapjára (UNICEF) hivatkozva. A konfliktusok 2020 novemberében kezdődtek a kormányerők és a lázadók között, azóta 1,7 millió embernek kellett elhagynia a térséget.
Bár az etióp kormány vitatja, az ENSZ szerint a tartományban nagyjából 353 ezer ember él súlyos válságban, és a régió élelmiszer-helyzete katasztrofális szinten van, ami azt jelenti, hogy jelentős az éhínség.
James Elder, az UNICEF szóvivője szerint körülbelül 33 ezer kisgyermeket és csecsemőt fenyeget halál betegség és alultápláltság miatt, és további kétmillió ember van válságban, mivel a helyi fegyveres erők megakadályozzák, hogy az élelmiszersegélyek célba érjenek.
Az Egyesült Államok és az Európai Unió közösen felszólította a hadviselőket, hogy állapodjanak meg a tűzszünetről, mert így milliókat lehetne megmenteni az éhínségtől.

Etiópia északkeleti részén több mint száz embert lőttek agyon, az egymással régóta területi vitában álló Afar és Szomáli tartomány határán kirobbant összecsapásokban – tudatták kedden helyi vezetők.
A konfliktus ismét felszínre hozta az Etiópiára, illetve etnikai szövetségi rendszerére nehezedő feszültségeket, amelyek nem korlátozódnak csupán az északi Tigré tartományra – jegyezte meg az AFP francia hírügynökség.
Körülbelül száz civilt öltek meg a pénteken kezdődött erőszakcselekményekben, amelyek kedden is folytatódtak – közölte a Reuters hírügynökséggel Ahmed Humed, Afar helyettes rendőrfőnöke, aki a Szomáli tartományi fegyveres erőket okolta a júniusi országos választások előtt elkövetett erőszakért.
A tartomány szóvivője, Ahmed Kaloyte azt mondta, hogy Szomáli tartománybeli biztonsági erők támadtak a Haruka nevű övezetre, és vaktában lövöldöztek a lakosokra, legalább harminc afar nomádot megöltek, ötven társukat pedig megsebesítették. A szóvivő szerint a helyi közösség visszaverte a támadókat. Kedd reggel azonban a szomáli fegyveresek visszatértek, gépjárművekre szerint géppuskákkal és rakétavetőkkel, „és ismeretlen számú polgári személyt, közöttük nőket és gyermekeket mészároltak le álmukban”.Az értesüléseket független forrásból nem sikerült megerősíteni.
Szomáli vezetők az afar erőket vádolták a konfliktus kirobbantásával.
Abdo Heloe tartományi szóvivő szerint afar rendőrök támadtak ismeretlen okból szomáli nomádokra, és keddig huszonöt polgári személyt öltek meg és több mint harmincat megsebesítettek. Ali Bedel, egy másik szóvivő arról számolt be, hogy pénteken huszonöt ember halt meg, majd kedden „ismeretlen számú polgári személy” vesztette életét.
A szövetségi kormány még 2014-ben átrajzolta a két tartomány közötti határt, három települést Afarhoz csatolva Szomálitól, amely azóta próbálja ezeket visszahódítani. Etiópiát az etnikai határok mentén tíz közigazgatási egységre osztották fel, amelyek széles jogkörökkel rendelkeznek. A földtulajdon miatti, illetve politikai viták időnként véres erőszakba torkollnak.
Nemrégiben jelentettek összetűzéseket a két legnagyobb etnikai közösség, az oromók és az amharák között. Kedden az Amharához tartozó, de oromók lakta Dzsile-Temuga övezet hatóságai azt közölték, hogy egy „minapi” összetűzésben 68 ember halt meg és 114 sebesült meg.
A szövetségi hatóságok egyelőre nem reagáltak az AFP megkeresésére.
Abij Ahmed etióp miniszterelnök, a Nobel-békedíj 2019. évi kitüntetettje novemberben a szövetségi hadsereget küldte Tigré tartományba, hogy űzzék el a hatalmát megkérdőjelező regionális vezetőket. A harcok azóta is folynak a térségben.

Az ENSZ csütörtök esti közlése alapján több mint ötszáz nemi erőszakról tettek bejelentést az észak-etióp Tigré tartomány öt kórházában. Mivel az áldozatok félnek bejelentést tenni, illetve mert a térségben hiányos az egészségügyi ellátás, az ENSZ úgy véli, az esetek valódi száma valószínűleg még ennél is több lehet.
A nemi erőszakot nemcsak a tigréi fegyveres konfliktusban részt vevők követték el sok nőn, hanem az áldozatok családtagjai is, miután a fegyveresek kényszerítették őket erre – közölte Wafaa Said, az ENSZ etiópiai segélykoordinátorának helyettese a világszervezet New York-i székhelyén.
Erre reagálva Taye Atskeselassie Amde, Etiópia ENSZ-nagykövete azt mondta: hazájában egyáltalán nem tűrik meg a nemi erőszakot, és az ilyen bűncselekmények elkövetőit szigorúan megbüntetik.
Az etióp hadsereg november elején indított offenzívát a térséget korábban irányító Tigréi Népi Felszabadítási Front (TPLF) ellen, amelyet felkeléssel vádolt. Ezrek haltak meg, százezrek menekültek el otthonaikból a harcok és légicsapások nyomán, legalább 75 ezren a szomszédos Szudánba. A már amúgy is szegény, körülbelül ötmillió lakosú régióban humanitárius katasztrófa alakult ki.
Humanitárius szervezetek mindeközben lehetséges háborús bűncselekményekről számoltak be, köztük civilek százainak lemészárlásáról, valamint rendszeres nemi erőszakról és fosztogatásokról. Abij Ahmed etióp miniszterelnök kedden ismerte el először, hogy atrocitások történtek Tigré tartományában,
és elsőként ismerte el azt is, hogy eritreai katonák is az ország területére léptek, amit korábban az ENSZ és emberi jogi szervezetek rendszeres beszámolói ellenére tagadott. A kormányfő szerint az eritreai katonák azonban nem bocsátkoztak harcokba, mindössze a határ menti térséget felügyelik a két ország között „nemzetbiztonsági okokból”.

Több mint kétszáz áldozatát találták meg eddig annak az etiópiai tömeggyilkosságnak, amelyet az ország nyugati részében fekvő Benishangul-Gumuz államban követtek el a héten – közölték pénteken tisztségviselők.
Korábban a halálos áldozatok számát mintegy százra tették. Azóta katonák felfedeztek egy tömegsírt, amelyben további áldozatok vannak elhantolva – közölte egy gumuzi tájékoztatási hivatal, fényképeket is bemutatva a tömegsírról. A gumuzi kormányzat állítása szerint a hadsereg megölte azt a 42 fegyverest, akik a tömeggyilkosságot elkövették, és az esettel összefüggésben őrizetbe vettek öt helyi tisztségviselőt. A támadás mögött etnikai ellentétek állnak. A fegyveresek amara, oromo és sinasa törzsbelieket gyilkoltak le. Leszúrták vagy lelőtték őket, házaikat felgyújtották. Szeptember óta több hasonló eset történt az államban, de egyik sem volt ilyen súlyos. Az etnikumok közötti ellentét azután újult ki az országban, hogy Ahmed Abij miniszterelnök 2018-ban hivatalba lépett, és felgyorsította a demokratikus reformokat, ami felszabadíthatott régi feszültségeket. A gumuzi etnikai ellentétektől függetlennek tűnik az a fegyveres harc, amely Tigré tartományban folyik szakadár lázadók és a kormányhadsereg között.

Többtucatnyi emberrel végeztek ismeretlen fegyveresek az Etiópia nyugati részén fekvő Benishangul-Gumuz államban, szerda hajnalban – írja a Reuters. A hírügynökségnek helyiek számoltak be arról, hogy a fegyveresek megrohamozták Bulen nevű települést.
Egy helyi farmer tucatnyi halottat látott egy mezőn, egy másik tanú 20 holttestet számolt egy másik helyszínen. Egy helyi orvos 38 embert látott el, akik többsége lőtt sérüléssel került hozzá. Egy tisztviselő neve elhallgatását kérve nyilatkozott arról, hogy tudnak a támadásról a hatóságok, de a támadók, illetve az áldozatok kilétéről nem árult el részleteket.
Abij Ahmed miniszterelnök és a hadsereg feje, Birhanu Jula egy nappal korábban látogatta meg az etnikai konfliktusoktól megosztott térséget, hogy békefolyamatokat sürgessen. Hasonló a mostani vérengzéshez már novemberben is történt: akkor egy busz 34 utasát ölték meg fegyveresek.
Benishangul-Gumuz nem szomszédos az ország északi részén található Tigrével, amelyet novemberben lerohant az etióp hadsereg. A kettőt Amhara állam választja el egymástól.

Etiópia nyugati részén Benishangul-Gumuz szövetségi államban 34 emberrel végzett egy fegyveres szombat éjszaka.
Az etióp emberi jogi bizottság borzalmas támadásról számolt be az eset kapcsán, hozzátéve, hogy hasonló akciók történtek a régió más részein is, az emberek menekülnek az erőszak elől.
A szervezet vezetője közös szövetségi és regionális együttműködést szorgalmaz a támadások fokozódása miatt.
A Reuters megjegyzi, hogy ugyanebben az államban szeptemberben 45 embert ölt meg egy fegyveres milícia. Az erőszakos támadás a kormány és az északi Tigré szövetségi tartomány közötti 12 napos háború közepette történt. Szakértők szerint a konfliktus más etnikai csoportokat is arra buzdíthat, hogy kihasználják a káoszt függetlenségi törekvésük érdekében.

Rakéták csapódtak be péntek éjjel két repülőtéren Etiópia északi részén, a harcok sújtotta Tigray tartománnyal szomszédos régióban – közölték kormányzati forrásból.
A két támadás célpontja a Tigraytól 100 kilométerre délre fekvő Gondar repülőtere és Amhara tartomány Tigraytól nagyjából 200 kilométerre fekvő székhelyének, Bahir Darnak a reptere volt. Helyszíni beszámolók szerint Gondarban megrongálódott a terminál épülete. Kórházi források szerint két katona meghalt, 15 megsebesült a rakétacsapásban.
A hatóság kordont vont a repülőtér köré, és az Ethiopian Airlinesnak a két városba irányuló belföldi járatait törölték.
A kormány a Tigray tartományt irányító, a központi hatalom ellen fegyveres harcot folytató szervezetet, a Tigray Népi Felszabadítási Frontot (TPLF) vádolta a támadással.
„Legitim célpont minden olyan repülőtér, ahonnan támadják Tigray tartományt” – közölte Debretsion Gebremichael, a TPLF elnöke, hangsúlyozva, hogy lakott területet nem ért támadás.
Több száz ember halt meg a TPLF és az etióp hadsereg között zajló, 11 napja kirobbant harcokban.
Abiy Ahmed etióp kormányfő azután döntött a hadsereg bevetéséről, hogy a TPLF fegyveresei állítólag megtámadtak két laktanyát a régióban.

Legalább 166 embert öltek meg Etiópiában a héten agyonlőtt népszerű énekes, Hahalu Hundessza halála miatt kitört tüntetéseken – közölték rendőrségi források vasárnap.
A zavargásokat elsősorban Addisz-Abebából és Oromia régióból jelentették, ez utóbbiban 156-an haltak meg, köztük 11-en a biztonsági erők tagjai voltak. A főváros hatóságai kedden 10 halottról számoltak be, köztük 2 rendőrről.
Az oromo népcsoporthoz tartozó Hundesszát Addisz-Abeba Gelan Condominiums nevű külvárosában lőtték agyon hétfőn este. A rendőrség megállapította, hogy gyilkosa vagy gyilkosai szándékosan őt vették célba.
Hundessza támogatói kedden a biztonsági erőket okolták a történtekért politikai indítékot sejtve a tett mögött.
Sajtóforrások szerint a hatóságok az ország több pontján felfüggesztették az internetszolgáltatást, hogy így vegyék elejét a tüntetéseknek, amelyek kapcsán eddig mintegy 2200 embert vettek őrizetbe.
Az etióp kormány részéről szombaton azt közölték, hogy urai a helyzetnek.
Sokan úgy tartották, hogy Hundessza zenéjével a kormányzat által elhanyagolt legnagyobb etiópiai népcsoport, az oromók jogaiért szállt síkra.
Az énekes, aki korábban politikai fogoly volt, az Oromia és Amhara régiókban 2018-ban lezajlott tüntetéshullám idején vált ismertté.
