Svédország parti őrsége feljelentést tett, az ismeretlen anyag eredetének és azonosításának kivizsgálása folyamatban van – számoltak be hivatalos források.
Az ismeretlen anyagot először a Botteni-öbölben, a Balti-tenger északi részén fedezték fel Svédország és Finnország között és jelenleg közel 77 négyzetméternyi területen terjedt el – közölte a parti őrség.
A svéd sajtó által nyilvánosságra hozott fényképeken az anyag szőnyegként terjedt el a nyílt tengeren. Az információk szerint nem ásványi olaj, mivel átlátszó fényt képez a víz felszínén. Hangsúlyozták azonban, hogy nem áll fenn a veszélye annak, hogy az anyag elérje a tengerpartot.
A parti őrség elmondása szerint a szennyezés mértékét repülőgépről állapították meg, valamint mintát is vettek belőle. Egyben megkezdődött a feltételezett környezetvédelmi bűncselekmény előzetes vizsgálata is, amelybe különböző szakembereket vontak be – számolt be a The Guardian.
A minták szakértői vizsgálata várhatóan a jövő hétig tart, addig nem lehet pontos tájékoztatást adni. A svéd parti őrség közölte, amíg nincs meg az eredmény, addig nem tudnak nyilatkozni arról, milyen intézkedéseket kell tenni. A szolgálatnál továbbá azt ellenőrzik, mely hajók és milyen rakománnyal a fedélzetükön tartózkodtak a térségben.
Jonathan Tolin, a parti őrség vizsgálati csoportjának vezetője közölte: „Számos új típusú üzemanyagot szállítanak tengeri úton – például a bioüzemanyagot is. Ezek a vízzel érintkezve eltérően reagálhatnak. Ez pedig bonyolítja az anyag gyors meghatározását”. A szennyezett terület fölött repülőgépek felügyelik a folyamatot.

Egy 47 darab gázolajos hordót szállító hajó süllyedt el Ecuador egyik ökológiailag érzékeny vidékének, a Galápagos-szigetek partjainál vasárnap.
Az Albatroz nevű hajó Santa Cruz szigetének közelében süllyedt el – közölte a Petroecuador állami olajvállalat. A vállalat közölte, hogy vészhelyzeti tervet léptettek életbe, és elszigetelő gátakat állítottak fel a süllyedés helyszíne körül. Az ecuadori környezetvédelmi minisztérium szerint a búvárhajó fedélzetén 47 hordónyi gázolaj volt. A legénység mind a négy tagja épségben kimenekült a roncsból.

A hatóságok lelepleztek egy bűnszervezetet, melynek tagjai Covid-kórházak hulladékaival szennyezték a földet Ukrajna három megyéjében.
A hírt a főügyészi hivatal közölte. Az információk szerint a szervezet képviselői 2020–2021 folyamán több mint 6 ezer tonna szemetet szállítottak el az egészségügyi intézményekből, köztük a Covid-kórházakból is, s megsemmisítés helyett a földeken szórták azt szét Kijev, Mikolajiv és Lemberg megyében.

A Mosonmagyaróvári Járási Ügyészség veszélyes hulladékra elkövetett hulladékgazdálkodás rendje megsértése miatt emelt vádat szerdán egy ukrán sofőrrel szemben, aki akár öt év börtönt is kaphat.
A vádirat szerint a 38 éves ukrán kamionsofőr 2021 márciusában tartálykocsiban szállított bázisolajat Magyarországról Németország felé – írják az ügyészség honlapján.
Az autópálya magyarországi szakaszán a mérőállomáson többszöri mérés után is tengely túlsúlyt állapítottak meg a járműszerelvénynél. A vádlott azért, hogy csökkentse a túlsúlyt, a tartálykocsiból összesen 260 kg bázisolajat engedett le a csapadékvíz elvezetésére szolgáló csatornába. Ezzel a terhelt veszélyes hulladékot nem a kijelölt helyen helyezett el.
Tettét észrevették, és a veszélyes hulladéknak minősülő bázisolaj kiszivattyúzásáról a katasztrófavédelmi hatóság gondoskodott.
A sofőr ellen az ügyészség veszélyes hulladékra elkövetett hulladékgazdálkodás rendje megsértése bűntette miatt emelt vádat. Vele szemben öt terjedő szabadságvesztés is kiszabható.
A nyomozás során a Mosonmagyaróvári Rendőrkapitányság rendőrei jártak el, az érdemi döntést pedig várhatóan a Mosonmagyaróvári Járásbíróság fogja meghozni.

Az FSO Safer már 2017 óta áll érintetlenül a Vörös-tengeren és amennyiben az ott tárolt 1.1 millió hordónyi olaj a tengerbe ömlik, ökológiai katasztrófába süllyedhet a környék.
Megannyi humanitárius katasztrófával küzd Jemen a polgárháború kitörése óta, azonban most egy olyan ökológiai katasztrófa fenyeget, amely azt a csekély reményt is elvenné a helyiektől. Ez pedig az FSO Safernek a folyamatos korhadása, ami egy nagy olajszivárgással fenyeget.
Amennyiben a mintegy 1.1 millió hordónyi olaj a tengerbe ömlik, 8 millió jemeni eshet el a tiszta víztől és a némi élelmet jelentő haltól. A The Guardian szerint egy ilyen olajszivárgás három hét alatt teljesen kicsinálná a jemeni Vörös-tenger halállományát.
A szivárgás veszélye pedig napról napra egyre nagyobb, friss modellezések szerint pedig ez nem csak Jemen, hanem Szaúd-Arábia, Eritrea és Dzsibuti számára is ökológiai katasztrófát hozna. Ez pedig mondani sem kell, több millió dolláros károkat okozna az érintett országoknak.
