Агентство ООН заявило, що, за їхніми оцінками, близько 280 000 людей постраждали в Майдугурі, і що близько 200 000 інших були переміщені в місті.
Влада Нігерії не підтвердила жодних смертей у результаті цієї події, однак понад 200 людей загинули в інших повенях по країні за останні кілька тижнів. Сьогодні в місті Майдугурі, штат Борно, було зафіксовано сильні раптові повені через переповнення греблі Алау.

У Нігерії в результаті лобового зіткнення бензовоза з вантажівкою стався вибух, в результаті якого загинуло щонайменше 48 осіб, повідомило агентство з надзвичайних ситуацій країни.
За словами Абдуллахі Баба-Араба, генерального директора Агентства з надзвичайних ситуацій штату Нігер, в районі Агаї на півночі центральної частини штату Нігер, щонайменше 50 тварин згоріли заживо під час недільної аварії.
Баба-Араб повідомив, що на місці аварії тривають пошуково-рятувальні роботи.
Спочатку Баба-Араб повідомив, що було знайдено 30 тіл загиблих, але пізніше сказав, що тіла ще 18 жертв були знайдені обгорілими в авіакатастрофі. За його словами, загиблих ховали масово.
Губернатор штату Нігер Мохаммед Баго заявив, що жителі постраждалих районів повинні зберігати спокій, і закликав учасників дорожнього руху «завжди проявляти обережність і дотримуватися правил дорожнього руху, щоб захистити життя і майно».
За відсутності ефективної системи вантажних залізничних перевезень у Нігерії, найбільш густонаселеній країні Африки, спостерігається високий рівень смертельних ДТП за участі вантажівок на більшості основних автошляхів.
За даними Федерального корпусу безпеки дорожнього руху Нігерії, лише у 2020 році сталася 1 531 аварія за участі бензовозів, в результаті якої 535 людей загинуло і 1 142 отримали поранення.

За словами речника, постраждалих доставили до лікарень.
Муктада Асомш, керівник відділу інформації регіону, повідомив, що під час обвалу під руїнами опинилося близько 120 осіб – студенти і викладачі, багатьох із них вдалося врятувати.
Як повідомляється, на місце події прибули батьки, які у розпачі разом із військовими та поліцейськими брали участь у порятунку. Причина трагедії поки не з’ясована, але місцеві жителі повідомили ЗМІ, що обвалу будівлі передував триденний дощ.
Часткове або повне руйнування будівель є поширеним явищем у найбільш густонаселеній країні Африки – Нігерії. Місцева влада пояснює це тим, що досі не вдалося посилити стандарти якості, безпеки та обслуговування будівель.

Упродовж останніх 15 років Борно є епіцентром ісламістського повстання, унаслідок якого загинули тисячі людей і мільйони були змушені покинути свої домівки. У Нігерії не вщухає хвиля насильства: протягом вихідних озброєні групи викрали 87 людей у північно-західній частині країни, повідомив Усман Данламі, посадовець району Каджуру, штат Кадуна.
Він нагадав, що тиждень тому з двох сіл у Канджуру були викрадені 75 осіб, а перед цим у сусідньому районі Чікун зі школи викрали 287 учнів.
Незважаючи на зусилля правоохоронців, звільнити заручників та викрити злочинців поки що не вдалося.
У північно-західному регіоні Нігерії в останні роки значно зросла кількість викрадень людей з метою отримання викупу. У північно-східній і центральній частинах країни через озброєних злочинців, джихадистів та представників інших організованих груп громадська безпека також під загрозою.
Після вступу на свою посаду в травні минулого року президент Нігерії Бола Ахмед Тінубу оголосив війну озброєним злочинцям, які серйозно загрожують правопорядку.

Озброєна група викрала кілька сотень учнів з міста Куріга, що на північному заході Нігерії. Місцеві намагалися врятувати дітей, але бойовики відбилися і вбили одну людину.
Викрали вони понад 280 учнів віком від 8 до 15 років зі школи в штаті Кадуна.
Представники місцевої влади підтвердили інформацію про викрадення. Водночас губернатор Кадуни, Уба Сані, який прибув на місце події, заявив, що точної інформації про кількість викрадених наразі немає.
Вчитель школи, Сані Абулла, повідомив що озброєні люди напали на них, стріляючи в повітря. Співробітникам навчального закладу вдалося вивести неушкодженими лише невелику кількість учнів.
Один зі свідків події повідомив, що бойовики поранили дівчинку. Вчителька, якій вдалося втекти, розповіла, що місцеві жителі намагалися врятувати дітей, але бойовики відбили їх і вбили одну людину.
За останні роки в північно-західному регіоні Нігерії значно зросла кількість викрадень людей з метою отримання викупу.
Днями влада північно-східного штату Борно заявила, що щонайменше 200 осіб, переважно жінок і дітей, які збирали дрова, були викрадені неподалік від кордону з Чадом.

Щонайменше 200 осіб, переважно жінок і дітей, які раніше покинули свої домівки, були викрадені ісламістами в північно-східному штаті Борно, повідомило представництво ООН у Нігерії.
У районі Гамбору Нгала, поблизу кордону з Чадом, озброєні чоловіки напали на мешканців табору для біженців, які саме збирали дрова. Голова представництва ООН у Нігерії Мохамед Фолл заявив, що цей інцидент стався кілька днів тому й наразі його подробиці ще не відомі.
Повідомляється, що відтоді ісламісти звільнили кількох літніх жінок і дітей віком до 10 років.
Фалл підкреслив, що цей напад є черговим доказом того, що більшість жертв протистояння між нігерійськими силами безпеки та радикалами – жінки й дівчата.
Через регулярні зіткненнях між ополченцями та армією вже загинуло щонайменше 35 тисяч людей, понад два мільйони мешканців покинули свої домівки.
Ситуація з безпекою на північному сході Нігерії вкрай складна. Хоча армія має в регіоні кілька баз, значні території контролюють джихадистські угруповання.

У штаті Замфара на північному заході Нігерії озброєні бандити вбили чотирьох людей, у тому числі двох поліцейських, і взяли в заручники ще 40 осіб.
Речник поліції Замфари Язід Абубакар підтвердив факт нападу і повідомив, що поліція посилила свою присутність на місці злочину в районі Касувар Даджі.
За словами місцевого жителя, спочатку пролунали постріли, потім бойовики вбили поліцейських і увірвалися в кілька будинків. Понад сорок жінок і дітей, а також кілька людей похилого віку були захоплені в заручники, додав чоловік, якому, за його словами, вдалося втекти від бойовиків.
Нігерія, яка вважається країною з найбільшою економікою в Африці, стикається із серйозними проблемами щодо безпеки, оскільки озброєні групи щороку викрадають і вбивають тут тисячі людей.
