Amint azt arról már mi is írtunk, szerda éjjel egy gépfegyveres támadó elképesztő tömegmészárlást rendezett Lewistonban. A gyanúsított a tragédia után elmenekült, most megtalálták. A 40 éves Robert Card feltételezhetően önkezűleg vetett véget életének – közölte Michael Sauschuck, Maine állam közbiztonsági biztosa. Az áldozatok életkora 14 és 76 év között volt.
Janet Mills Maine állam kormányzója péntek esti sajtótájékoztatóján azt mondta: „Meghalt. (…) A Maine állambeli rendőrség megtalálta a holttestet”.
Ma este megkönnyebbülten fellélegeztem, mert tudom, hogy Robert Card senkire sem jelent már veszélyt – mondta.
Michael Sauschuck, Maine állam közbiztonsági főnöke szerint a 40 éves Robert Card, a hadsereg tartalékos katonája valószínűleg lőfegyverrel követett el öngyilkosságot.
A hatóságok azt közölték, hogy nem tudják megmondani, mikor vetett véget életének a gyanúsított. A férfi szerda este egy félautomata puskával felfegyverkezve tüzet nyitott Lewinstonban egy bowlingpályán, majd mintegy tíz perccel később a 36 ezer lakosú város egyik bár-éttermében, 18 embert megölt és 13-at megsebesített.
Robert Card holttestére este (helyi idő szerint) negyed nyolckor bukkantak egy folyó mellett Lisbon Fallsban, mintegy húsz percre Lewiston városától, ahol a lövöldözés történt. Az autóját a közelben találták meg.
A szerdai mészárlás volt a legsúlyosabb az Egyesült Államokban a texasi Uvalde iskolájában történt lövöldözés óta, ahol egy fegyveres 2022 májusában 19 gyereket és két tanárnőt lőtt agyon.

Az öngyilkosságot elkövetett kadét az egyetem második évfolyamán tanult. A közösségi oldalakon arról számoltak be, hogy a diák egy AKSZ-74U gépkarabéllyal végzett magával, miközben őrhelyen teljesített szolgálatot.

Kizuhant az ablakon Szentpétervár Kalinyinszkij kerületében Marina Jankina, aki az orosz védelmi minisztériumnak a Nyugati Katonai Körzet finanszírozásáért felelős osztályát vezette – írja az Ukrajinszka Pravda. Az 58 éves nő fontos szerepet töltött be az ukrajnai háború finanszírozásában, lévén, hogy a Nyugati Katonai Körzet szinte valamennyi egysége részt vesz az ország területén zajló harcokban.
A körzet sajtóosztálya megerősítette, hogy Jankina a munkatársuk volt, a hatóságok az esetet öngyilkosságként könyvelték el.
A háború kitörésétől kezdve szokatlanul sok orosz milliárdos, illetve katonai meg rendőri vezető vált meg az életétől, volt, aki a családját is magával vitte. Jankina öngyilkosságát például csak néhány nappal előzte meg egy másik, hasonló tragédia. Vlagyimir Makarov vezérőrnagy, a belügyminisztérium szélsőséges csoportok elleni részlegének januárban kirúgott vezetője otthonában végzett magával. Állítólag nagyon megviselte a munkájának elvesztése, ami miatt depresszióba süllyedt, majd agyonlőtte magát.

Felrobbantotta magát az Iszlám Állam (IÁ) nemzetközi terrorszervezet harcosainak volt vezetője, Abu al-Hasszán al-Hásemi al-Kurasi október közepén Szíriában, miután őt és segítőit helyi harcosok bekerítették Dzsaszem városában – mondták el utólag az összecsapásban részt vevő harcosok.
Az értesülést a Reuters brit hírügynökség közölte csütörtökön.
Szerdán az IÁ is megerősítette al-Kurasi halálhírét. Az amerikai hadsereg szerdán azt adta hírül, hogy al-Kurasi a lázadó a Szabad Szíriai Hadsereg (FSA) által az északnyugati Dara tartományban végrehajtott műveletben halt meg.
A tartományt a szíriai hadsereg ellenőrzése alá vonták, miután 2018-ban orosz közvetítéssel létrejött megbékélési megállapodás értelmében Damaszkusz visszakapta az ellenőrzést Dél-Szíriában.
Kurasira és segítőire egy házban lévő titkos rejtekhelyen bukkantak rá – közölték a források, köztük a Szíriai Szabad Hadsereg harcosai, valamint az összecsapásban elhunyt bajtársak hozzátartozói, továbbá Dzsaszem lakosai is.
„A vezető és egyik társa az övére szerelt szerkezettel felrobbantotta magát, miután harcosainknak sikerült megrohamozniuk a rejtekhelyüket” – mondta Szálem al-Horani dzsaszemi lakos és egykori harcos, aki részt vett annak a három háznak az ostromában, ahol az iszlám sejtet felfedezték.
Az FSA támogatást kapott a Nyugattól és az Öböl-államoktól, amíg 2018-ban meg nem vonták a segítséget tőlük. A szervezet harcosai azonban még a térségben maradtak a megbékélési megállapodások után, amelyek értelmében átadták a nehézfegyvereiket, de megtarthatták a könnyűfegyvereiket.
Az Iszlám Állam új vezetője immáron Abu al-Huszein al-Huszeini al-Kurasi – közölte a csoport szóvivője. Állítása szerint az előd „Isten ellenségeinek elleni harcban” halt meg, de részletekbe nem bocsátkozott.
Az Iszlám Állam a szomszédos Irak polgárháborújának káoszából nőtt ki, és 2014-ben hatalmas iraki és szíriai területeket foglalt el. Az Iszlám Állam korábbi kalifája, Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi még abban az évben az észak-iraki Moszul városának egyik mecsetjéből kikiáltotta az iszlám kalifátust, az összes muzulmán kalifájának nevezve ki magát.

Egy férfi házi gyújtóbombákkal támadt a kenti menekültközpontra, majd brutális módon öngyilkosságot követett el – számolt be a hvg.hu.
Három, házilag készített, tűzijátékokhoz rögzített gyújtóbombát hajított egy, az országba belépő migránsokat fogadó központra egy férfi az angliai Doverben – írja a Reuters. A támadó egy Seat gépjárművel hajtott oda a menekültközponthoz, kiszállt, majd elhajította a három gyújtóbombát, amelyek közül az egyik nem gyulladt be.
Ezután egy közeli benzinkúthoz hajtott, hurkot kötött a nyakára, a kötelet hozzáerősítette egy fém oszlophoz, beült a kocsijába, majd rálépett a gázra.
A támadás motívuma nem ismert, a rendőrség annyit közölt, hogy nem terrortámadásként kezelik az ügyet. A támadásban senki sem sérült meg súlyosan, a menekültközpontban ketten enyhe sérüléseket szenvedtek.
Suella Braverman belügyminiszter „nyugtalanítónak” nevezte a támadást. Natalie Elpicke konzervatív doveri országgyűlési képviselő szerint a helyzet általában véve aggasztó, és angol-francia együttműködést sürgetett a csatornán való kishajós átkelések felszámolására. Egy helyi képviselő a BBC műsorában arról beszélt, hogy a lakosságot sokkolta az eset. Általában véve az emberek megosztottak, szerinte a lakosság fele olyan véleménnyel van az országba érkező migránsokról, ami nem tűr nyomdafestéket, a másik fele viszont inkább segítene nekik.
