Szerda reggel az izraeli biztonságiak körülvettek az óvárosban egy épületet, ahol az Oroszlán barlangja nevű csoport két körözött palesztin fegyverese elbarikádozta magát. A fegyveresek azonban nem adták meg magukat, és ellenállásra szólították fel a városban élő palesztinokat, majd tűzharcot folytattak az elfogásukra érkezett kommandósokkal.
Az összecsapásban mindkét palesztin – Huszam Aszlim és Muhammad Dzsanajdi Abu Bakr – meghalt. Egyikük tagja volt annak a terroristacsoportnak, amely tavaly októberben megölte Ido Baruch izraeli kommandós őrmestert.
Mellettük az Oroszlán barlangja nevű szervezet egy harmadik tagja, valamint még hat palesztin meghalt a razzia során, közülük a palesztin hatóságok a 72 éves Adnan Szaaba Baarát és a 25 éves Mohamed Anboszit nevezték meg. A harcok nyomán a ynet szerint kilencvenheten megsebesültek – köztük négyen súlyosan –, és kórházi ellátásra szorultak.
„Elítéljük a megszállók Náblusz elleni támadását, és követeljük a népünk elleni folyamatos támadások befejezését” – közölte szerdán Nabil Abu Radina, a Palesztin Hatóság elnökének szóvivője.
A Becelem nevű izraeli jogvédő szervezet adatai szerint idén már legkevesebb ötvenegy palesztint öltek meg Ciszjordániában és Kelet-Jeruzsálemben. 2004 óta tavaly volt a legmagasabb a halálos áldozatok száma a palesztin területeken, megközelítette a százötvenet.
Izrael azt állítja, hogy a halottak többsége fegyveres volt. Az izraeli közlések szerint a katonai rajtaütések célja a palesztin fegyveres szervezetek felszámolása és a jövőbeli terrortámadások meghiúsítása. A palesztin tisztségviselők viszont úgy nyilatkoztak, hogy a razziákban Ciszjordánia 55 éve tartó, határozatlan idejű izraeli megszállásának megszilárdítását látják.
Izrael az 1967-es hatnapos háborúban foglalta el Ciszjordániát – benne Kelet-Jeruzsálemmel – Jordániától és a Gázai övezetet Egyiptomtól. A palesztinok ezeken a területeken tervezik független államuk kikiáltását.

Két munkás meghalt egy indonéziai nikkelolvasztó üzemben a hét végén, miután a magasabb béreket és biztonságosabb munkakörülményeket követelő alkalmazottak tiltakozása erőszakba torkollott – közölte hétfőn Szulavézi sziget rendőrsége.
A jelentés szerint a kínai tulajdonban lévő PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) kohójánál lezajlott, a tüntetők, köztük az üzem egykori és jelenlegi munkásai és biztonsági személyzetének tagjai, valamint a rendőrség között lezajlott összecsapásokban egy indonéz és egy kínai munkás vesztette életét.
A tüntetők felgyújtották a vállalat több járművét és megrongálták a munkásszállások csaknem száz helyiségét. A rendőrség 71 embert őrizetbe vett és leállíttatta a kohót.
A GNI 2021 végén indította el 2,7 milliárd dollárra becsült beruházását Szulavézi (Celebesz) szigetén 1,8 millió tonnás éves kapacitással.
A GNI egyik egykori alkalmazottjának elmondása szerint biztonsági hibák következtében az elmúlt évben több halálos kimenetelű baleset – egyebek között robbanás – is történt a létesítményben.
Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita indonéz ipari miniszter részvétét fejezte ki a halálesetek miatt, és szorgalmazta a munkavállalók és a vezetőség közötti párbeszédet, valamint a munkavállalók jogaival kapcsolatosak szabályok és a biztonsági előírások teljes körű betartását. A GNI közleményében közölte, hogy kivizsgálja az esetet.
Azóta, hogy a közelmúltban az ásványkincsekben gazdag Szulavézi tartományban fellendültek az elektromos járművek akkumulátoraihoz szükséges nikkel feldolgozásához köthető beruházások, a régióból szórványosan több erőszakba torkolló tüntetésről is beszámoltak a híradások.

A zavargások azután törtek ki, hogy Muktada asz-Szadr iraki síita vezető hétfőn bejelentette lemondását. Támogatói – akik a múlt hónapban már megrohamozták a parlamentet, majd többhetes ülősztrájkot tartottak az épületnél – erre reagálva hétfőn több kormányépületet is megostromoltak a fővárosban, és nemcsak a rendőrökkel, de az Irán által támogatott politikai csoportokkal is összecsaptak.
Az iraki védelmi erők hétfő délután bejelentették, hogy helyi idő szerint este 7 órától az egész országra érvényes kijárási tilalmat vezetnek be, amelynek végét még nem határozták meg. Az ország déli részén több síita többségű tartományban is hasonló zavargások törtek ki. Musztafa al-Kádimi, Irak ügyvivő miniszterelnöke a zavargásokra való tekintettel felfüggesztette a kabinet ülésezését, és felszólította asz-Szadrt, hogy utasítsa támogatóit a kormányépületek elhagyására.
Az ENSZ iraki missziója hétfőn szintén arra kérte a tüntetőket, hogy hagyják el az épületeket, emellett felszólította asz-Szadr támogatóit, hogy „óvakodjanak az olyan cselekedetektől, amelyek események megállíthatatlan láncolatát indítanák el”.
A nyilatkozatban hangsúlyozták: „az állam túlélése forog kockán”. A síita hitszónok széles körű támogatásnak örvendett, ugyanis elutasította mind az amerikai, mind az iráni beavatkozást Irak belpolitikájába. Azt mondta, szerinte senkinek nem szabadna hivatalt vállalnia azok közül, akik Irak 2003-as amerikai megszállása óta hatalmon voltak. Jóllehet Muktada asz-Szadr pártja megnyerte a múlt októberben tartott választásokat, a kormányalakításhoz mégsem volt meg a kellő többségük.
Az azóta eltelt időszakban a befolyásos vezető olyan kabinetet szeretett volna felállítani, amelyben nem kapnak szerepet riválisai. A kormányalakításra tett próbálkozásai azonban mind kudarcba fulladtak, így a vezető júniusban összes parlamenti képviselőjét visszahívta – írja az MTI.
A több hónapnyi bizonytalanság és a pártok hatalomért folyó harca egyaránt erősítette a növekvő politikai instabilitást az országban, a hétfői ráadásul asz-Szadrnak nem az első visszalépése: a hitszónok többször is így reagált, amikor a politikai egyeztetések eredményei nem neki kedveztek – írta az AP. Sokan emiatt hétfőn bejelentett döntését is blöffnek tartják, azonban félő, hogy a helyzet feszültségének fokozódása még nagyobb politikai válsághoz vezet.

Nilanta Premaratne, a hadsereg szóvivője szerint a Colombótól mintegy 365 kilométerre északra található Viszuvamadu benzinkútjánál az órák óta üzemanyagért sorban állók kövekkel kezdték dobálni a közeli katonai ellenőrzőpontot. Miután elfogyott az üzemanyag, az emberek összecsaptak a katonákkal.

Az ukrán hadsereg közleménye szerint az orosz támadás a kormányerők eltökélt ellenállásába ütközött.
Legfrissebb sajtóértesülések szerint találat ért egy nukleárishulladék-tárolót az ukrán fővárosban, Kijevben. A Kanal 24 televízió szerint a Radon Union nevű vállalat lerakatát több orosz gránát találta el.
Az első mérések alapján a védelmi övezeten kívüli civil lakosság nincs veszélyben.

Vasárnap kubaiak ezrei vonultak ki az utcára az ország több pontján kormányellenes jelszavakkal. „Kuba nem a tiéd!”, „Éhesek vagyunk!”, „Szabadság!”, „Le a diktatúrával!” – kiabálta a tömeg, amely a kubai kommunista párt irodája előtt gyűlt össze az ország fővárosában.
Havannában a demonstrálók és a helyi rendőrség összecsapása során a rendfenntartók könnygázt vetettek be. A nemzetközi sajtó újságírói megjegyezték, közel tíz embert tartóztattak le, a rendőrség műanyag botokat alkalmazott az tüntetők veréséhez. Havannába katonai és rendőri erőket vontak össze.
A tüntetés kezdetét az ország több városával élőben közvetítették a Facebook és a Twitter közösségi hálókon. Ennek eredményeként még aznap az ország nagy részén lekapcsolták az internetet, de estére azonban újraindult. Az Inventario információs honlap adatai szerint közel 40 demonstrációt rögzítettek Kuba különböző városaiban.
Miguel Diaz-Canel kubai elnök a maga részéről felszólította híveit, hogy menjenek ki az utcára. „Felszólítjuk az ország összes forradalmárát, az összes kommunistát, hogy menjenek ki az utcára. És határozottan és bátran álljanak ellent” – jelentette ki a kubai elnök a nemzethez intézett televíziós beszédében.
Még aznap a főváros különböző részein a vezetés több támogató csoportja gyűlt össze, közölte a France-Presse információs kiadvány. „Mindenáron megvédjük a kubai forradalmat!”, írta a külügyminiszter helyettes Twitteren, és megosztott egy videót, amelyen a kommunisták hívei „Fidel vagyok!” kiáltásokkal vonulnak fel, miközben a kubai zászlót lengettek.
A kubai tömegtüntetések oka az ország nehéz gazdasági helyzete, valamint az élelmiszer- és egyéb áruhiány.
Elismerve az „elégedetlenséget”, amelyet egyes kubai lakosok tapasztalhatnak, akik nap mint nap élelmiszer- és gyógyszerhiánnyal küzdenek a mindennapos áram lekapcsolások mellett, Miguel Diaz-Canel kubai elnök a tiltakozásokért nem polgártársait vagy saját pártját, hanem az Egyesült Államokat hibáztatja.

A Kuba és az Egyesült Államok diplomáciai kapcsolatai jelenleg Barack Obama elnöksége alatti rövid rendezést követően a legalacsonyabb szinten vannak. Mint ismeretes, Donald Trump még az 1962 óta hatályos embargót is visszaállította az emberi jogok megsértéséért Kubában, és Havanna Maduro kormánya támogatásáért Venezuelában.
Ezek a szankciók, valamint az idegenforgalom leállása a járvány miatt mély gazdasági válságba és tulajdonképpen a lakosság elszegényedésébe sodorta Kubát.

Az elmúlt két nap folyamán legalább 26 ember életét vesztette abban a párharcban, ami a venezuelai védelmi erők és a Caracasban található szegény negyedben uralkodó bűnszervezet között bontakozott ki.
A BBC hírportál értesülései szerint a bűnbanda összesen 22 tagja, valamint négy járőr halt bele az összecsapásokba. Carmen Melendez belügyminiszter elmondta, a pontos számok még ennél is magasabbak lehetnek, az incidens során ugyanis legalább 28-an megsérültek, közülük 18-an járókelők voltak.
Szerda éjszaka a tűzoltók megrohamozták a főváros szegény negyedében lévő lakásokat, hogy a bennük élőket kimenekítsék az otthonukból, mivel tudatában voltak annak, hogy nagy leszámolás készülődik.
Az ütközet során különféle géppisztolyokat, gránátokat, valamint még hadiipari drónokat is bevetettek a gengszterek; ez utóbbit annak érdekében, hogy a lehető legrészletesebb információkat gyűjtsék be az őket leszerelni kívánó ellenséges védelmi erőkről.
Nagyjából 2 500 rendőrtisztet vezényeltek ki a helyszínre, hogy elfogják a bűnőzői csoport vezetőjét, akire korábban 500 ezer amerikai dolláros, vagyis körülbelül 150 millió forintos vérdíjat tűztek ki. A rendőrség több mint 24 ezer darab lőszerrel, három aknavetővel, öt gépkarabéllyal, négy géppisztollyal és rengeteg kézifegyverrel indult neki a csatának.
Melendez szerint valóságos háborús övezet alakult ki a negyedben, és bár komoly veszteségeket szenvedtek el, végül sikeresnek bizonyult a leszámolás, a banda tagjait pedig letartóztatták, és hamarosan a börtön rácsai mögött találhatják magukat.
Venezuela egyébként biztonsági szempontból a világ egyik legveszélyesebb országa, 2020-ban mintegy 12 ezer erőszakos halált regisztráltak az államban, ami azt jelenti, hogy 100 ezer lakosra 45,6 gyilkosság jut, amely hétszer magasabb mutató, mint a globális átlag.
