Fausto Salinas quitói rendőrfőnök tájékoztatása szerint a kábítószer becsült értéke 330 millió dollár (117,7 milliárd forint).
Ecuador a szomszédos Peruban és Kolumbiában előállított kokain egyik fő tranzitországává vált az évek során. Tavaly több mint 200 tonna kábítószert foglaltak le a dél-amerikai országban, nagy részét Guayaquil kikötőjében.
Ecuador a világ legnagyobb banánexportőre, ezért a csempészek gyakran gyümölcsszállítmányokba próbálják elrejteni a kábítószert, amelyet azután a világ számos pontján megpróbálnak értékesíteni. A legutóbbi csempészárut egy Belgiumba szánt, banános ládákkal teli konténerben találták meg.
A rajtaütés egybeesett Annelies Verlinden belga belügyminiszter és Ylva Johansson, az Európai Bizottság belügyi biztosa ecuadori és kolumbiai látogatásával. A két politikus a kábítószer-kereskedelem elleni küzdelem megerősítése érdekében látogatott el a két országba.
Az Európai Unió tagországai közül Belgiumban foglalták le a legnagyobb mennyiségű kokaint az elmúlt években. Az antwerpeni kikötő az illegális kábítószer elsőszámú célállomásává lépett elő a kontinensen.
„Az egyre növekvő kokaináradat már az egész Európai Unióra veszélyt jelent” – mondta Alexis Goosdeel, a Kábítószer és a Kábítószer-függőség Európai Megfigyelőközpontjának igazgatója.
Ecuadorban a nagyhatalmú mexikói kartellek emberei – hogy ellenőrzésük alá vonják a jövedelmező üzletágat – beszivárogtak a helyi bűnbandákba, ezért a kábítószer-csempészethez köthető erőszakos bűncselekmények száma az egekbe szökött. A zsúfolásig telített börtönökben a rivális bandák közti összetűzések további emberéleteket követelnek.

A jelenlegi elnök, a konzervatív nézeteket valló Guillermo Lasso aktívan harcol azokkal a bandákkal, amelyek az országot kokain Egyesült Államokba és Európába történő szállításának tranzitpontjává teszik – írja az NV.
Az ecuadori hatóságok szerint az egy évvel korábbi mennyiséghez képest 2021-ben kétszer annyi kábítószert, főként kokaint foglaltak le, s bár ez 2022-ben némiképp mérséklődött, a helyzet változatlan maradt: a rendőrség raktárai és égető kemencéi sem bírtak el ezzel.
Ezért a kormány úgy döntött, hogy a felesleges kokaint ezentúl építőanyagként használják fel az úgynevezett kapszulázós módszerrel. Ezt úgy kell elképzelni, hogy egy hulladékfeldolgozó üzemben, néhány ipari gép segítségével bezúzzák a kokaintéglákat, majd az így kapott finom port más anyagokkal (cement, homok) összekeverik, vizet adnak hozzá, s a végterméket az építkezésekre viszik A módszer ugyan hatékony, és már 350 tonna kokaint hasznosítottak így vele, de sajnos még mindig közel 83 tonna kokain vár arra Ecuadorban, hogy végül betonként végezze.

Több mint 900 kilogrammnyi, Nagy-Britanniába szánt kokaint foglaltak le az ecuadori hatóságok egy kikötői ellenőrzéskor – közölte a rendőrség vasárnap.
„Ezzel az akcióval több mint kilencmillió adag kábítószer nemzetközi piacra jutását sikerült megakadályozni” – közölte a rendőrség egy videóbejegyzésben a Twitteren. Az ország délnyugati részén fekvő Guayaquil kikötőjében tartott razziában a rendőrök munkáját kábítószer-kereső kutya segítette.
A kábítószercsempészek 13 vászonzsákban, tonhalkonzervek közé rejtve próbálták meg a drogot tengeri úton a szigetországba eljuttatni. Guillermo Lasso ecuadori elnök vasárnapi közlése szerint tavaly májusi hivatalba lépése óta több mint 300 tonna kábítószert foglaltak le a rendőrök a dél-amerikai országban.
Legutóbb csaknem 900 kilogrammnyi kokaint foglaltak le az antwerpeni kikötőben, a kábítószert egy Ecuadorból érkező hajó gyomrában, banánok közé rejtve próbálták Belgiumba csempészni. Belgium legnagyobb nemzetközi kikötőjében a hatóságok rendszeresen fedeznek fel drogszállítmányokat, a legtöbb esetben a konténerek banánrakománya közé rejtve, de 2022-ben rekordmennyiségű, mintegy 110 tonna kokaint foglaltak le a belga hatóságok az antwerpeni kikötőben.

Az októberben észlelt szeizmikus mozgások és fokozatos hamukibocsátás után most egy óriás füstfelhő tört elő a Cotopaxi nevű vulkánból. A szakértők szerint a kitörés sem várat magára sokat.
Az ecuadori hatóságokat riadókészültségbe helyezték, miután a Cotopaxi-vulkánból 1500 méteres gőz-, gáz- és hamuoszlop tört ki vasárnap – írta meg a MercoPress. A Nemzeti Műszaki Egyetem Geofizikai Intézete megerősítette, hogy helyi idő szerint reggel 5 óra 50 perckor a vulkán még nyugodt volt, ezt követően észlelték a gőz-, gáz- és hamukibocsátást délkeleti irányban.
A vasárnapi eseményeket megelőzően már észleltek némi hamut a vulkántól 45 kilométerre fekvő Quito városa felett múlt csütörtökön, amely feltételezhetően a Cotopaxiból származott.
A geofizikai intézet már október 21-én a szeizmikus jelek megnövekedéséről számolt be az Andok hegységben lévő, Quitótól délkeletre fekvő vulkántól, így a mostani események fényében a teljes kitörés a közeljövőben fog bekövetkezni.

Közel 1,3 tonna, legalább 95 millió euró értékű kokaint foglaltak le a hollandiai Vlissingen kikötőjében, a drogszállítmányt egy Ecuadorból érkezett hajó banánrakománya közé rejtve találták – közölte a Dutch News című angol nyelvű holland hírportál csütörtökön.
A beszámoló szerint egy rutinellenőrzés vezetett a banánokkal teli konténerekbe rejtett kábítószer megtalálásához.
A banánt egy vlissingeni élelmiszeripari cégnek szánták. A rendőrség ugyanakkor kizárta, hogy a vállalatnak köze lett volna a drogszállítmányhoz.
Az elkobzott kábítószert megsemmisítették.
A most talált kábítószer lefoglalását több drogszállítmány elkobzása is megelőzte idén.
A rotterdami nemzetközi kikötőben szintén banánok közé rejtve csaknem nyolc tonna kokaint foglaltak le novemberben, a szállítmány értéke meghaladta a 200 millió eurót.
A művelet négy ember előállításához vezetett.
Júliusban Costa-Ricából származó banánok között 1298 kilogramm kokaint találtak Rotterdamban, ugyanekkor Vlissingen kikötőjében körülbelül 130 kiló kokaint foglaltak le egy curacaói mészkővel megrakott konténerben.
A vlissingeni vámhatóság októberben 254 kilogramm, több mint 26,5 millió euró értékű kokaint fedezett fel a helyi kikötőben. A drogszállítmány egy ecuadori banánszállítmányban volt elrejtve.
Júliusban a hollandiai Zwolle bírósága hét gyanúsított ellen emelt vádat, amiért összesen 9000 kilogramm kokaint csempésztek Európába Vlissingen kikötőjén keresztül – közölték.
Az Euractiv című angol nyelvű brüsszeli hírportál friss cikkében közölte, a rotterdami kikötőben tavaly rekordnak számító, közel 70 tonna kábítószert foglaltak le, 74 százalékkal többet, mint az előző évben.

A elnöki hivatal vasárnap este arról számolt be, hogy vasárnap este a hét fegyveres egy Cara Sucia néven ismert embert akart megölni, ezért mentek be a kórházba és ejtettek túszokat.
A vizsgálat első eredményei szerint a férfit, akit meg akartak gyilkolni, szombat este súlyos sérülésekkel szállították a kórházba – közölte Alex Salgado ezredes, a chonei rendőrség vezetője.
Juan Zapata belügyminiszter megerősítette, hogy a túszejtés és a rendőrségi beavatkozás senki nem sérült meg.
Manabí tartomány szomszédos Esmeraldasszal, ahol – két másik tartománnyal együtt – november eleje óta rendkívüli állapot van, miután fegyveres támadásokban öt rendőr vesztette életét.
A kormány szerint ezek a támadások a szervezett bűnözés válaszai a kábítószer-kereskedelem elleni küzdelemre.
Az elmúlt hónapokban börtönökben is történtek összecsapások a hatalomért harcoló rivális bandák között.

Újra börtönlázadás tört ki Ecuadorban, melyben legkevesebb hat börtönőr megsebesült.

„A többi fogvatartottat még át tudtuk szállítani egy másik börtönbe. Kontroll alatt tudtuk tartani a részleget” – mondta a terület büntetés-végrehajtási vezetője. A rabok egy nappal azután lázadtak fel, hogy az ország 18 pontján támadtak a rendőrökre különböző fegyveres csoportok. A hatóságok a tervek szerint ezer rabot szállítottak volna át a Guayas 1 névre keresztelt börtönből több más intézménybe – írja az Euronews.
Ecuador elnöke elrendelte a tartományban a szükségállapotot és az éjszakai kijárási tilalmat. A börtönlázadások kitörése és a támadások megszervezése a drogkartellek felelőssége – állítja az elnök.

A Quitótól 80 kilométerre lévő Latacunga közepes biztonságú börtönében őrizték, míg a tárgyalást várta, ahol kábítószer-kereskedelem és pénzmosás lett volna a vád ellene.
Norerót Peruban is körözték kábítószer-kereskedelem miatt. 2020 közepén úgy sikerült elmenekülnie az igazságszolgáltatás elől, hogy a koronavírus-világjárvány közepette megrendezte a saját halálát, és Ecuadorba menekült a hatóságok szerint. Ügyvédei bemutatták hamisított halotti bizonyítványát, sőt fotóval is alátámasztották a halálát.
Helyi idő szerint kedd délben katonák tucatjai érkeztek a börtönhöz, hogy megerősítsék a biztonságot és a civil személyzetet evakuálják.
Az elmúlt években számos véres összecsapás tört ki az ecuadori börtönökben a szemben álló bandák között.
Tavaly 316 elítélt vesztette életét az összecsapásokban, idén eddig 106-an haltak meg a hatóság adatai alapján.
A legsúlyosabb összecsapás 2021 szeptemberében történt, a guayaquili börtönben 125 elítélt halt meg. Két hónappal később ugyanabban az intézményben 65 rab lelte halálát a harcokban – számolt be az MTI.
