Március 5-én az orosz fegyveres erők harci gépe légicsapást mért a szíriai Maarrat Misrin közelében található baromfifarmra, ahol a harci cselekmények elől menekülni kényszerülők menedékre találtak. 16 ember meghalt, 18 megsebesült, a romok alatt még további civil személyeket keresnek – számolt be a Jevropejszkaja pravda az Anadolu török állami ügynökségre hivatkozva.

„A légicsapás éjjel fél háromkor kezdődött. Nekem sikerült kimásznom a romok alól. Apám szintén ott volt, kérte, hogy hívjak segítséget. Jött egy mentőautó, apámat sikerült kimenteni, hárman még mindig a romok alatt vannak” – mondta a férfi.
Mohammed elmondta, miután a szomszéd épületet is támadás érte, apjával segítettek a romok eltakarításában. Édesapja megsérült, a család többi tagjáról semmit sem tud.
Mohammed Mervan, Szíria polgárvédelmi hivatalának (Fehér sisakok) szóvivője megerősítette, hogy két légicsapás volt. Valószínűleg további 4–5 személy lehet a törmelékek alatt.
A támadás egyik tanúja arról számolt be, hogy a repülőgépek tíz percenként csaptak le. „A romok alatt még vannak emberek. A többsége Idlíb és Hamá városból menekült ide” – mondta.
Ugyanakkora a Bild újságírója, Julian Röpcke 16 halottról és 35 sebesültről hozott nyilvánosságra fényképeket. Elmondása szerint, a Szíriai amerikai egészségügyi közösség kórházában kezelik azokat, „akik Oroszország katonai bűncselekményeit élték át”.
